2019-2020 Official NBA Thread

Seems like they are making the right moves. Hopefully this will awake this sleeping giant of a franchise. -
It will be interesting to see the stats diverge now between more and less strict states.
-
Some sobering numbers, on how much we are probably undercounting deaths. https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2020/04/27/covid-19-death-toll-undercounted/?arc404=true&fbclid=IwAR1WMfe5T6TFAb_7tXt4qeR9MCCeHFew2S3Kp85eD7tTQQvEytIgerVhbso

Both deaths and cases are being underestimated significantly according to anecdotal evidence. It is also incredibly clear that if you are getting more deaths from something in a month, than you do over a six month season, it is WAY more deadly.
-
Which again SHOULD go to prove how important isolation is, and how dumb it is to open up too soon.

32 days. That is the difference between these two charts. On March 26th, the United States had 75,000 COVID cases and just over 1000 deaths from it. As of this morning, we have 900,000 MORE cases or just under a million cases nationwide. For the record, that works out to 1 in every 330-ish Americans having recorded a positive test. On the deaths side, we are looking at a 5000% increase in 32 days or just under 55,000 deaths. Deaths per million US citizens has gone from 2 to 166. Case saturation has gone from 227 cases per million to 2950, or about an increase of 1300%. Finally for those who want to use the "just a flu" line of argument, the worst flu season we have had in a decade was 61,000 deaths over an entire season for the 2017-18 flu season. It took an estimated 45 MILLION cases to get there. COVID-19 done very close to the same number of deaths (55k vs 61k) in about 44 million LESS cases. At the pace we are going at, COVID will pass this flu season in 3 more days. To close this thought, The United States military recorded the deaths of 55,220 troops in Vietnam between December 1956 and when we left the country in April 30, 1975. COVID is going to pass that death total today in about 14 weeks worth of time from the first case in the US until today.

So who is he, and what is his background? -
It would have been nice to take a developmental QB in all of this. They have their chances.
-
If you expect instant answers, sure. These are things that take time. It takes testing and more testing, along with good information. This is still in its active phase, and still largely anecdotal at this point.
-
Meanwhile the President has talked publicly about being sexually attracted to his daughter.
-
According to Worldometers, today set a new high for positive tests, at almost 38k so far today. This passes the old high from April 4th.

This is unreal in a prison about 15 minutes from where I live.

In reality, it should be a deal breaker. But welcome to 2020. On your right you will see President Trump, on your left Bill Clinton. Look across the street at the Supreme Court and say high to Justice's Kavanaugh and Thomas. No idea why that isn't a deal breaker, but it isn't. In the reality we live, these are our choices. In this reality, all of the things that get leveled at Biden are things that the President has against him in multiples.
-
Politicians sell out there morals to win and gain power. Everything about Mike Pence is contra to Donald Trump. Given the opportunity, he jumped in a heartbeat, and is one of his biggest cheerleaders today.

This is where the US failed more than anything in the two months between the situation getting serious in China and the outbreak really getting to pandemic standards in March. Even if we didn't have preparations in place, such as testing, facilities, and PPE, those two months were when we should have been ramping up. The Congressional Brief's were scary enough that multiple members of Congress sold stock against it, so even if a few randomly selected public statements were trying to be soothing, there was plenty of information indicating that the Government people who actually understood this stuff knew this was really serious and really dangerous.
-
Sometimes I wonder if he just states everything, that way he can always take credit for being right. Its either that or he doesn't remember what he said before.
-
Why does every Trump supporter default to this when Trump's actions are brought up? I mean Trump talked about having sex with his daughter, and has settled numerous serious sexual allegations, in addition to all of the charges that have been leveled against him. He has encouraged people in inject Lysol into their system. If Biden is senile, Trump is mentally ill.
-
Also, today we hit 50,000 deaths as a nation. Within about 4 more days we will have passed the total number of American deaths in the Vietnam War.
-
So you are trying to argue that people shouldn't be stupid enough to listen to the President. Makes sense to me. Too bad 45% of voters are in the cult and not capable.

“Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light ... and then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re gonna test that,” Trump said, addressing Bryan. “And then I see disinfectant, where it knocks it [coronavirus] out in a minute — one minute — and is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that. So, that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.” Donald J Trump

Heck the Clippers are under a decade out of having an owner that was racist AF, and it hasn't stopped them. -

Honestly, that isn't really true. Hiring a crappy front office handicapped the team, not renegotiating deals decades ago. The White Sox did the same to Frank Thomas, and it hasn't stopped them from signing guys when they were actually the highest bidder. Garpax was the problem, not Scottie Pippen going contra to his financial advice and signing a bad contract. -
And the best part is that all of the penalties are being muted by us not playing in 2020. What a joke.

Let's also not forget who are we are talking about here. Michael Jordan thrived off of anger. He lived to have enemies. He took whatever slight he could find to make himself angry and focused. If it wasn't Jerry Krause, it would have been someone else. Maybe it is Phil? Maybe it is the next GM to come along. I love Michael and all, but the dude is a Type A asshole. He just figured out a way to channel his fury into his game, unlike 99.9% of other people who let it consume them.
