2019-2020 Official NBA Thread
southsider2k5 replied to Bananarchy's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Honestly, that isn't really true. Hiring a crappy front office handicapped the team, not renegotiating deals decades ago. The White Sox did the same to Frank Thomas, and it hasn't stopped them from signing guys when they were actually the highest bidder. Garpax was the problem, not Scottie Pippen going contra to his financial advice and signing a bad contract. -
And the best part is that all of the penalties are being muted by us not playing in 2020. What a joke.

Let's also not forget who are we are talking about here. Michael Jordan thrived off of anger. He lived to have enemies. He took whatever slight he could find to make himself angry and focused. If it wasn't Jerry Krause, it would have been someone else. Maybe it is Phil? Maybe it is the next GM to come along. I love Michael and all, but the dude is a Type A asshole. He just figured out a way to channel his fury into his game, unlike 99.9% of other people who let it consume them. -
It's all BS. Declarations of emergency, curfews, lockdown orders, etc are all a long tradition in American history. I mean George Washington himself used this during the revolutionary war and during his Presidency when epidemics broke out of things like Yellow fever and smallpox. Washington used curfews. He used travel bans. He used vaccines. They have also been used countless times since in places like Hurricane Katrina, the Watts riots, Ferguson, Hurricane MIchael, etc. They were used during the Flu's of 1918. The power to create and enforce this rules is 100% clear. Anyone who denies this has zero idea of both civics and history.

I thought there no was no such thing as an antidote for a virus? There are treatments and vaccines, but you can't actually cure a virus, right?
-
And how many of them are the same people that believe the Civil War was fought over State's Rights.
-
I am only going to go with players that I saw. I could try to, but it makes more sense to pick from experience, that said, here we go: C Carlton Fisk 1B Frank Thomas 2B Ray Durham SS Alexei Ramirez 3B Robin Ventura RF Maggio Ordonez CF Lance Johnson LF Albert Belle DH Harold Baines Honorable Mention 5 Joe Crede Jose Abreu Paul Konerko Ozzie Guillen Carlos Lee SP Chris Sale SP Mark Buehrle SP Lamar Hoyt SP Jack McDowell SP jose Quintana CL Bobby Jenks CL-SU Bobby Thigpen SU Keith Foulke SU Damaso Marte SU Matt Thornton LOOGY Scott Radinsky

It will suck, but when you limit home field options, you have to limit time options as well.
-
So much for State's Rights.
-
Our veterans got to die to prove this is wrong. This the party of loving the military that is using our vets as guinea pigs and killing them.
-
I am guessing they will have to throw out all normal time slot conventions as well.

Best testing is also turned upside down if you look at test per capita. We are currently 41st in the world in Per Capita testing, trailing all of the typically mentioned European countries that get talked about such as Italy and Spain, plus others.

I have it on my DVR myself. -
I would say that works both ways. Maybe if she found a better way to protest other than trying to kill people at a hospital, I'd have a bit more empathy.
-
That's the fun part. Gas isn't something you make overnight. This is like a 6 month long process to drill, pump. deliver, refine, and deliver again. There is no playbook for what's happening now. Six months from now scenarios could be everything from the Great Depression, to business as normal, and somehow the producers and refiners have to guess the right one, when this has literally never happened before in the modern world.
-
Yeah, this is ugly. It is an amazing time to watch this happen in real life instead of always reading about them in text books or something.
-
So instead of that nurse trying to save someone's life or caring for their loved ones, they have to stand in traffic and risk their lives because someone wants the right to kill people. What a metaphor for 2020. The pro-life party wants to be able to infect people with a virus that kills somewhere between 1-3% of people who are infected with it, because freedom.
-
If you knowingly infect someone with AIDS it is a felony. If you repeatedly shoot a fire arm into the air and eventually strike someone, it is manslaughter. Let's start talking about the same kind of penalties here.
-
Considering new cases have plateaued in the upper 20k per day range, I don't see a convincing case for deaths to drop off in the next couple of weeks for sure. I would imagine us staying around 2k deaths per day for the foreseeable future, which puts us to 60k in a week and a half.
-
lmao. Keep digging.
-
Have you read your own work lately? Though my favorite part of the "new" you is where you reach back into history for insults but pretend to be new. But it's different, just like it's always been.
-
Good lord. Are you still this bitter? Let it go. It's been like a decade.
-
It's the same spin you've used through all of your IDs on Soxtalk. Sadly while you protest too loudly, your actions still show otherwise.
-
The only leap is to read a thread like this and feel the need to attempt to correct non-factual interpretations of the articles for no reason at all, if I were to actually believe this pile of fertilizer was actually truly how you felt. It is no coincidence that every single reply you have made here supports one political narrative, even when only the human angle is present.
