  1. Look, if you want to be upset, that's fine. if you want to ignore the history, that's fine too. But the need to drag every single piece of this to death just murders these threads for everyone else who is interested in hearing people talk about these kinds of rumors. You keep complaining about what is allowed at Soxtalk, but you aren't exactly helping with this routine through the trade deadline.
  2. That's fair, but "Agreed to" doesn't have to mean 100% done. There is a million things that can go wrong once a deal is agreed to. A guy can fail a physical, the Sox could have to open up their vault to the other team so that they can review footage of these guys as a condition for getting a deal done, someone's medicals could throw a red flag, or like I said in 2020, COVID testing could even be a thing. Because of all of these things, until the commissioners office gets the call, it doesn't mean it is 100% done, even if an agreement is in place at one point.
  3. I know you really want to bury this guy, for whatever reason, but I don't think it is anywhere near as simple as this.
  4. A trade frame work could have already been agreed to, but with no scouting, the reviews of the medicals and such takes on a whole different meaning now. Heck for all we know, COVID testing could be part of a deal at this point.
  5. He's already someone who doesn't want his real identity known, and is probably not on his first fake account either. It is someone who we have seen before.
  6. Quitting on your guys with that kind of talent when it matters is counter to everything we did in this rebuild.
  7. There are people talking about him not pitching in the playoffs.
  8. Heuer had been getting some key set up roles until this weekend. Of course that could be because of the whole trade rumor thing, but he had been working into the slot right before Marshall coming out of the pen until a couple of days ago. Foster they originally seemed to be saving for longer relief/opener work, though he did some later work over the weekend. He pitched the 7th inning in a one run game with the Cubs, the 6th in one run game against KC, and the 10th in a tie game yesterday. Both of these guys are getting higher leverage rides as the season has gone on.
  9. Am I the the only who noticed that RR has been using him in higher leverage situations the last week?
  10. He isn't going to get mechanics by getting benched. Lucas Giolito needed to be the worst pitcher in baseball to get through figuring it out.
  11. Then you were never cut out for a rebuild. This isn't all about today.
  12. Seriously, the idea that we should run the franchise on the short sighted opinions of internet posters overreacting on a message board in a moment of bad play is about as dumb of a thing that the White Sox could do. I could give a crap less about the "why didn't we trade for another pitcher crowd". The Sox undertook the rebuild for a reason. The worst possible thing would be to pull up short 10 yards short of the finish line because fans want to make a splash now.
  13. Every single rep and experience is going to help him. Getting a guy exposed to what it takes to win at the highest levels is exactly the kind of experience they need. Being scared to let Dylan Cease pitch is the exact opposite of what is productive for this franchise going forward. Do we sit Eloy in the playoffs because he could commit a stupid error or injury himself at any point? No, you let him learn on the job because of his importance going forward. Quit thinking so shortslightedly here. This isn't about today. it is about the next 5-7 years. It is being scared to buy stocks in your retirement account because the market is down today, even though you invest for decades forward. Now is not the time to be scared.
  14. Cease has the arm and talent to do that. But he never will if you don't pitch him.
  15. Again, if he fails in the playoffs this year, he won't be the only one. I could start naming names of guys I am suspicious of, but it kind of pointless. The time to protect these guys has passed, unless you really don't believe in them in the future. The franchise will be much better for not shitting themselves over being scared to let these guys play when it matters most. They got you here, you ride them through.
  16. Cease is going to be far from the only who gets his ass kicked in the playoffs. Every single guy on his roster, outside of a few newer signings, will be learning how to be a playoff player at playoff intensity. I know Cease is the target du jour, but reality is none of these guys are "ready" for the playoffs until they actually experience the playoffs.
  17. Sure. And we are a much better franchise going forward with a guy like Cease learning how to be a playoff pitcher versus someone of a lesser ilk who will be gone in a year or two.
  18. I think the only people "not taking this seriously" are the ones who think we put this team together without intending to let them learn on the job. Players taking their lumps IS a part of the process.
  19. I would love to have him pitch in the playoffs, even if he fails miserably. There is no trade off for that kind of experience. You can't simulate that sort of intensity. Getting that in year 1 would be a huge push forward not only for Cease, for all of the guys on this team. Trust me when I say that there will be plenty of these guys who look overmatched in the playoffs.
  20. It's year one of being a contender. This is a part of the program. Guys need to get experience. It won't be pretty at times, but this is a part of the rebuild process. You got the Ferrari, now you need to figure out how to drive it.
  21. He's a dude that needs his innings. If he figures out his technique and consistency, he is a TOR arm and stuff. He just needs his reps to try to make that click.
  22. Sadly, that is too close for comfort.
  23. I am more of a John Hymen follower.
