  1. This is incorrect. FutureSox has been reporting for a while that there is a third brother, who would be potentially in the class which could be the first international draft class.
  2. Which is exactly what should happen.
  3. Just because of how much easier it is to find a guy like Vaughn to play 1b or DH, I would be WAY more willing to deal him than I would our top level pitchers. But on the other side of the coin, I don't think he would be valued as the centerpiece of a #1 starter who is under control for 2 or more years type of deal.
  4. He can be a 10 year utility player with his tool set. If he was starting for you, you are probably looking for someone better, but you love a guy like that on your bench, especially if he can pick up some corner OF skills at a decent level.
  5. Though that could serve as a catalyst for these guys to take the highest bidder early, versus subjecting themselves to a slotted draft.
  6. The ideal situation would be for him to be pushed into July of 21(with no delay in the period) so that they can work both Cespedes in the first window and Colas into the 2nd window, and maybe even the newest Cuban pitcher by the time he clears. Realistically, if they really do delay the second window to Jan of 22, there is about zero way we get both of them.
  7. I know it is a popular sentiment, but I would give up on the idea that we are resigning McCann. Just about everything to do with our roster construction means that McCann isn't going to get the playing time he is going to want.
  8. Sure but that is all conjecture and speculation. There is no ACTUAL rumor of agreement or even real negotiations between everyone. LIke we KNOW we are signing Vera at this point. We have nothing like that for Colas and Cespedes, at least that I have seen.
  9. Two of the top Cubans that can be signed as of the next international signing period. Sox have been mentioned as potential destinations for both, though nothing official or even sort of official has been said.
  10. FG has us 6th overall with our odds. Bref has us 13th. LAD sits atop both lists, up near 20% in each one. The Yankees, Twins , A's and Astros rank above us in both methodologies.
  11. Probably nothing TBH. This is a cash considerations type of move.
  12. Lambert is also on the 45 day DL.
  13. There are 15 other teams in this. Even if we called it equal odds for everyone, that is about 6% each. I think we are above some of the teams in this, and below others, so I can accept 6% as a a solid number.
  14. FWIW I looked up what the computers say. Fangraphs gives us 6% odds at winning the WS. BRef puts it at 2%. I am comfortable with those numbers in my head. With those kind of odds, how much do you think a Lance Lynn improves them? Even if it increases us say 50%, we go from 6 to 9%. Is it worth giving up pieces that could help us in the years where our odds are higher, either on the field or in a different deal which helps us then, and not now?
  15. Even with that in mind, I think the odds of the White Sox being World Champs increase in 2021 and 2022 for sure. I also think this year will serve as a test drive for exanded playoffs. It might not be 16 teams, but it will be something which will increase the number of teams in.
  16. Realistically, this period was supposed to be over in June, but because of COVID was extended when the last period got pushed to Jan of 21. Effectively, anyone who could be signed, was already signed because the full expectation was that the class would be over with at this point. We are also talking about $243k worth of space, in an environment where the flowers have all been picked, and the weeds remain. This has no effect on the big class we are looking at for next year.
  17. Its about being smart. Increasing low odds by a small amount, at the expense of when we really do have our best chances to win is how you close your window before it really opens.
  18. Add a healthy Leury to that bunch and you have one helluva 4X100 relay team.
  19. I am saying this year, I think our odds are probably less than 10% of winning, and those odds increase as we get to 21, and then peak in those next few years. With those odds, I am not willing to push all in for a slightly larger chance at winning, when we could use those assets down the line when we will have a much higher chance.
