  1. One of those guys won't be here until May 2021. One of those guys has missed most of the season so far. One of those guys is in a gigantic slump. They will get there, but I think most of us hoped that this core could move up the playoff date, but I think the smart money has always started around 2021 for this team really hitting the big time. The pitching injuries aren't helping that, not to mention our FA hitters have been largely hurt too.
  2. AJ would be a disaster in a coaching role of any kind. His future is in a booth somewhere. He does that really well. I am just saying that I could pair him with Jason and see what happens.
  3. Engel doesn't even have to "figure it out". He can be a 40 to 45 hitter, and still be a guy who has value to a team because of his ability to play a 65-70 CF and play all 3 OF positions well when called on. He also has at least plus speed and skills on the basepaths when needed. With guys like Jose Abreu and Eloy Jimenez on the roster he has a valuable skillset even if he isn't starting.
  4. Realistically, We wanted to see them go about .500 against Cleveland and Minnesota, and then come out ahead of the rest of the schedule. So far they have gone 3-6 against them, and 5-2 against the rest. It really feels like .500 is going to be the breaking point for the playoffs if they don't manage to get in the first two slots. When you also factor in losing two of the their top 5 starters, a key member of the pen, plus the opt out of Kopech, and 16 games into the season, they haven't had their entire starting line up on the field for one game, I think .500 is a solid achievement so far. We will see what health and performance look like going forward, but I still feel pretty good about this team getting into the dance.
  5. So we will probably get 2 to 3 innings out of Foster, and then a bridge outing from Anderson. Then we will see if we are winning or losing to see what direction we go from there.
  6. They also just said he wasn't ready a day ago.
  7. SUCK IT INJURIES!!!
  8. Sox fans are the greatest. Everyone just assumed it was because of RR, then the truth comes out. Again, I think even though it a short season, the fact that no one had a normal spring training, or preparation for the season, you might actually need to rest guys more than usual versus less than normal. Even past that, we are just going to see a ton of injuries.
  9. I think the one thing you can say is that they will be hit or miss, and they will be explosive. They will define standard deviation this year with how inconsistent they will be.
  10. The problem is that all indications are you are already looking at a bullpen day on Saturday and you have Dylan Cease going today who also hasn't shown much in the way of working deep into games so far. You may well be looking at 20 non-starter/bullpen innings over these three days. He wasn't going to be quick on the trigger knowing Friday and Saturday could well see 15 innings pitched by guys who are in that bullpen.
