OK, interesting. Love the plus tools. Would be nice to have a real defender or two out there.

This too. He can always be cut if he can't be taught to get to his power at a reasonable level.

Some interesting notes in here for subscribers, including Getz saying that Shultz seems to be on a 26-27 arrival time frame because his workload has been so light up until now. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6227833/2025/03/25/chicago-white-sox-general-manager-chris-getz/?campaign=5888993&source=dailyemail&userId=6062851

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox

So they were buying shares at an effective franchise price of $1.1 billion recently, and now selling them to the FNG for $1.8? Quality work if you can get it. -

Two more days and it will a full month since the sale deadline, and we still have no idea what happened. This is exactly why I have zero faith in the local sports media in this town. They only write what they are told to write, and do zero actual investigative work, -
And for as much as we keep getting told how great this new development staff is, maybe we should actually put them to work on someone who isn't a soon to be 16 inch softball player.

In order to be sent to the minors he has to be put through waivers. It's a crapshoot as to win the best time for that is.

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?

The Cubs crying poor and not acting like a big market team is an automatic F. They are a cash machine and flat out lying to their fan base. -
62 days of service time and 24 years old catches my attention. On a team full of flawed players, might as well get someone with any upside.
-
Hopefully they aren't rushing some of these guys.

He was questioned as soon as he was selected because of his limited ceiling.

And by many accounts the Sox didn't get into that deal because they didn't want to take on Willis.

Who are you most excited to watch this year?

Ah yes, objective Stacey King. Right up there with Hawk as a truth teller. -

hahahahahahaha Bite on the Bulls playing well when the pressure is off all you like. Come back in a few years when the Bulls still don't win s%*# and are in the lottery. -
People don't respond to being browbeaten anymore.

And if 2020 was the reason, why did the guys everyone is trying to blame get fired? -
Are you really telling me that you are going to be excited to tune into a game to watch relievers? Eh.
-
Very quickly for a guy who has zero MiLB ABs or experience is still a year or two away even if he FLIES through the system. If that's the case though, I am not sure why we fired Rick Hahn.
-
The last three I could see, but I am not going to get excited by Meidroth or bullpen guys.
-
This is my problem with the 2026/27 crowd, we have maybe 1 or 2 guys on that mid-season time frame, and one of them has a significant injury red flag. I can't squint at this team and feel like we will have something to watch in the near future.

Jerry's wallet is even going to get it's ass kicked this season. Between the fall offs in attendance, advertisting, and TV money, it is going to be a very bad year for him and the investors, after about five straight years of lower than normal returns.
-
And more importantly, if he was absolutely inept in his job at running player dev, what in his role as his GM is he going to be able to do better to know that someone else is able to do it right, or at least significantly better than Getz did when he had the job? It is a fair question to ask with his failure at this job, if he could even understand it well enough to be able to ask the right questions, and demand the right things of the next person to do that job, and maybe that is why we saw so many key hitters regress last year, and we are also seeing so many massive injury problems. I think if you make the question, how many other GMs would have come in to this job at the same time, with the same limitations and freedoms that Chris Getz got, would have seen their team do what this franchise did last year, is what is being gotten at. Going off of MLB history, I don't see many (if any) other truly qualified GMs losing 121 games with this team last year. Using that as a standard, I feel it is absolutely fair to give Chris Getz a failing grade for last year.
