And add to that the Cuban leagues are basically worthless when it comes to teaching. We saw how fundamentally bad that Abreu, Viciedo, and Alexei were when they got here. Moncada has his own bad habits and things to learn.

So the good news is that I finally got to use this guy as a reaction.

As I understand it, these guys usually go pretty far underground until they can establish residency in a place like the Dominican Republic. They definitely aren't playing organized ball, and are probably just reduced to quietly working out on their own, if anything. But yes, the safest assumption is that he didn't play at all during that time.

Once they sustain success beyond what they were projected to do, we can talk about them being long term building blocks. So far Palka/Davidson/Delmonico haven't been anything more than we thought possible... which isn't a whole lot. If they cross over into an arena where they could be potential starters, and we still have the minor leaguers forcing the issue, you move those guys to fill other holes or replenish the minors again. If Palka/Davidson/Delmonico force themselves into the long term picture, that would be a great problem to have.

His WHIP is insane. It will be interesting to see if/when they bring him stateside.

LaMarre doesn't preclude Eloy. He just gives you a guy who can cover CF if needed. This does leave the Sox even thinner on the IF. It means that basically the only back up for the middle IF is our starting 3B now. If Anderson or Moncada get a day off, Davidson has to play 3rd, with Yolmer sliding into the middle infield.

The realistic answer to this in three years should be D.) None of the above. With the amount of OFs we have coming through the system, at best these guys are just future tradebait and PH's.

Just seeing this first list makes me happy. A guy like Bryce Bush would have been a top 10 guy two to three years ago.
