  1. There is a lot of knowledge being dropped in this thread. It is too bad someone isn't able to pick it up.
  2. Yes, we should quit on a guy after 100 major league innings.
  3. Inconsistency is a much better word to use with a kid who is set to pitch his 100th major league inning tonight.
  4. Walks is the one thing I am most concerned about with him. Control will be the most determining factor on if he becomes a super star at the next level or not.
  5. If they want a real return, hopefully the Sox hang up on them. I am not interested in giving up Castillo, Smith, or Narvaez at this point, and definitely not Zavala or Collins.
  6. Very happy to see they aren't pushing Kopech up yet. No good reason to do so yet. I want to see some domination first.
  7. It would be nice to have one guy in the minors who we know has the potential to play catcher in the major leagues defensively.
  8. Kopech started on Sunday and threw 66 pitches. Unless they were planning on bringing him back a day early, his normal rest day to start would have been Friday.
  9. In the 21st century, as long as they aren't a part of a corporate scandal, I am not sure that it really matters. The era of being outraged over sponsorship's has passed.
  10. I think Hahn pretty much is responsible for the process and the direction, but he has to come to JR and KW to get a final yes or no for the big things (such a changing direction for a rebuild or spending a lot of money). Again, for any person who is two levels removed from the top management in his company, this is a completely normal procedure. No one who has two levels of bosses gets to do things all on their own.
  11. I mean think of it this way. Hahn worked for the White Sox for like a decade before he got the GM job. Despite being a highly through of future GM, he interviewed for very few jobs, refused interviews in cases, and even pulled out of a process at one point. He KNEW how the White Sox operated before he accepted the position and still took the job. No matter what the situation is in the White Sox front office is, Rick Hahn is 100% on board with it, or he wouldn't be here. He's had tons of chances to leave over the years and never has. You have to make the read that he wants to be here, which means he is OK with what is happening here. What it all boils down to is if our bosses were trying to push us to do something we didn't want to do, we'd be looking for a better situation. Hahn is not any different there.
  12. I think you just argued against yourself in the Phillies part. They just now added major league talent, and are probably a year or two ahead of the White Sox in terms of timeline.
  13. More than the White Sox. Included in that stretch are guys like David Dejesus, Kerry Wood coming back, Edwin Jackson come to mind pretty quickly.
  14. The Cubs spent something like half a billion dollars in contracts on the free agent market before they got their title.
  15. Say what now? Did you forget which side of things you have been on for a minute?
  16. We are already past the extra year of control. A few more weeks will be the Super 2 deadline to keep him out of the arbitration system until his 3rd year, and not his 2nd.
  17. Yeah, I am not a big fan of this being his MLB debut. I like the idea of a nondescript home game if at all possible.
  18. They are making a Bill and Ted's part 3.
