  1. Sadly when the team gets on a hot streak, I am sure people will start talking about the playoffs again.
  2. The reason is to let the kids learn on the job so that they are ready to play once the time has come. If it were truly what you think, Jose Abreu and Avi Garcia wouldn't be here. Neither would Miguel Gonzalez, Wellington Castillo, or Joakim Soria. That is $40 million right there that if what you thought was true, wouldn't be here. Turning this around, why would the Sox be spending money on these guys if the object was truly profit?
  3. Yeah, when Rodon and Kopech are ready, the team is going to get a whole lot better. Even if Kopech struggles, substituting Rodon for either Shields or Miguel is going to be a HUGE step forward.
  4. So you can't answer the question?
  5. Answer me this. Who was the last team to succeed in a rebuild by this method?
  6. How did we get from fans melting down about guys being rushed, to fans demanding that guys be rushed? Kopech is NOT a finished product, and even if he is called up this year, he will still not be a finished product. When he gets called up, we should all fully KNOW that he will have 6 walk 8 strikeouts in 4 innings kind of outings.
  7. Add the Tigers into that mix as well. While they got lucky to shed the Verlander and Fielder money, they still have to worry about Miguel's contract.
  8. Beck wasn't on the 40 anymore. He was dumped over the winter, pretty early on IIRC.
  9. And don't act like people are out of line for pointing out that this is what rebuilds look like.
  10. But they aren't. This is such an urban legend, but the numbers don't hold that up. Look no further than the annual business of baseball ranking as to the Sox annual revenue rankings versus the rest of baseball. Remember these rankings are taken in April, so really you are looking at the results for the previous season. Even at the peak of their rankings, they weren't a BIG boy. They are a middle sized fish at best. 2006- 14th 2007- 13th 2008- 12th 2009- 10th 2010- 10th 2011- 10th 2012- 10th 2013- 14th 2014- 16th 2015- 16th 2016- T-17th 2017- 18th 2018- 20th
  11. Why would people expect to have their opinions NOT generate replies on a public message board?
  12. With Danny already out for the forseeable future, this is awful timing.
  13. Hawk even said 2020 on opening day.
  14. I'd ask if you want to bet on this, but I know better than to fall for the old house bet.
  15. Yeah, the Twins basically worked the top picks to see who would give them the best deal, and then picked that player IIRC.
  16. I will either come with repetition or the next guy up will replace them. Unless you are Randy Johnson, that kind of walk rate isn't sustainable.
  17. Probably more like we originally thought of Leury. A track guy with zero power.
