  1. He has great stuff. Once he learns to harness it a bit better, he is going to be a front line guy.
  2. Now that the process is in place, the absolute worst thing that the Sox can do is try rushing it. Both in terms of the big picture and individuals, they need to take the time that this affords them to grow and evaluate the players and the team. Let kids compete. Let kids get their ABs and IPs. Literally the only way this has a chance at working is if the Sox don't panic. Giolito, Lopez, and Fulmer need innings, and unless something drastic changes, they need them at the major league level. The hitters need their ABs and they need those repetitions to work on fundamentals at game speed. Practice and the minors will get you to a certain point, but eventually you have to learn on the job against the best in the world. As of April 23rd there is no reason to be sending guys down or cutting players. When the next group is ready to move up, there are guys on the roster who are expendable. It is not about winning 75 instead of 68 games this year. It is about what is essentially a mass internship for guys who are trying to break into the industry.
  3. Get over yourself. There is no expiration date on mourning and sorrow. No one gets to dictate to another human being how they should feel. There is a need here for professional help, but the problem isn't Anderson. The problem is people who think they own athletes and that they exist solely for their entertainment.

  5. There is nothing worse than an armchair fan who looks down on athletes for being human. Tim Anderson's young best friend was murdered completely by surprise. I don't know many people who could easily deal with that, let alone be able to do a really tough job in public. Any who tells me otherwise is full of it.
  6. Still means a roster move. We already cut one OF at Bham. Who gets cut?

  8. once they decide to do so, assuming they do, yes it will open up a spot on the 40.
  9. The rebuild has apparently turned Soxtalk into Kenny Williams fans.
  10. Finally we get the Ron thread. The Sox can start winning now.
  11. Just goes to show you can take the Verlander out of Detroit, but you can't take the Detroit out of Verlander.
  12. As Aaron Burr said, "Wait for it". Quite literally, the day to day results are like points on Whose Line is it Anyway. They don't matter. What this team does, doesn't matter. Win, lose, or draw, the important thing is the ABs and IPs that these guys are getting. Get these kids their lumps, let them learn on the job, and quit panicking. People did such a good job of not caring about bad baseball last year, they should really think of this year, and probably next in the same way. Quit looking at the Top 10 lists and thinking it means some sort of instant success. As was outlined the other day the Astros took 6 years to do this. The Cubs with tons of luck, half a billion dollars in free agents, and a huge fan base to support, it took 5. How did people think we would be competitive again in about a year after starting and why? Even if you look on the field, barely the tip of the iceberg is still in the minors. Realistically only 3 of "The Guys" are even in Chicago at this point. The big thrust of guys is still in Charlotte and Birmingham. This is still a process. Go back to last years mentality of losing isn't a bad thing. And yes, it will be better. These kids will start to play better as a group. It's only a matter of time.
  13. I wonder what will happen when Jimenez and Kopech come up and have struggles.

  15. Yet the Astros went on and scored 5 more runs... I don't see them quitting.
  16. How do you make decisions on guys literally before you play them?
  17. The fans narrative has changed. Management has been saying the same thing all along.
  18. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone really. This is year 2, and the first full season without guys like Quintana, Melky, and company around to mask the growth of the younger kids. The rebuild has barely begun.
  19. Per George Offman Sox reliever Danny Farquhar passed out in the dugout after the 6th inning. Was attended to by Sox medical staff and taken to Rush Univerity Medical center for further testing, @WBBMNewsradio
