  1. You are on to something here, and that is that predictive stats aren't nearly as useful with SSS's.
  2. TBH, surving the Jon Garland and Gavin Floyd up and down's make me less worried about Lucas. But with them all having similar backgrounds (High HS picks who lost stuff in their journey to the majors, had some pretty big ups and downs, struggled to get consistency from start to start early on in their careers, big tall RHPs with long arms and legs, called to the majors at a young age, etc) it gives me a viewpoint that there could be something to guys needing a bit longer to get comfortable at the major league level. I remember all of these same conversations happening for years for both Floyd and Garland.
  3. Lester was $155 million Fowler cost about $20 million over his two years. Zobrist was $56 million
  4. The Cubs world championship took about half a billion dollars in free agent spending to achieve, in addition to the other stuff.
  5. I see some triggered posters in your future.
  6. Once Upon a Time is also done for which was a favorite of my kids.
  7. With the casinos most states have in place, plus the huge need for cash they have in IL, I would bet we see sports gambling in the state in less than 5 years, tops.
  8. If we have learned anything from the first six weeks of this season, it should be to pump the breaks on assuming instant stardom from call ups.
  9. If we get Adam LoRoche out of Matt Davidson, that is a huge bonus.
  10. There is just so much volume of potential starting pitching in this system right how. After the top level guys, it is really hard to get a read on not only who could break out, but if there will be a spot for them.
  11. This. A bad day at the baseball stadium is better than a good day at work.
  12. Let me put it this way, we weren't winning 80 games with Sale, Eaton, Quintana, Jennings, and Robertson all at peak performances. There is no way that steaming pile wins 90 to 95.
  13. One of the wonderful new additions to this boards technology is that you can actually tag someone like so @greg775, so that you can be sure they see a thread.
  14. See also Garcia, Avi.
  15. Even that is perennial all-star level.
  16. With a .950 OPS he'd be almost Mike Trout. He'd be better than Stanton's career average. I think that would be more like Hall of Famer is he did that for the rest of his prime.
  17. https://www.minorleagueball.com/platform/amp/2018/5/13/17349354/3-things-to-know-about-the-rise-of-white-sox-micker-adolfo?utm_campaign=minorleagueball&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&__twitter_impression=true
  18. So everyone in the organization is going to underachieve, except for one guy.
  19. No. Keep your day job.
  20. So despite multiple smaller guys in modern time being star players, you are going back 30 years for 1 that did not?
  21. And in exchange they would have given up Rutherford, Clarkin, Polo, Casey Gillespie, and our 2nd and 3rd round picks this year... all so they could be a .500 team.
