  1. QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 06:32 PM) Thanks. Will do. I like seeing progress. Thankfully this isn't the NBA, in which case I would be rooting for losses. How you can look at this offense and see progress over last year is beyond me.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) Considering they have said they'll invite Robert to ST, I would be shocked if they didn't extend one to Eloy as well. There is zero chance that Eloy isn't invited to ML spring training.
  3. QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) The team without the NFL offense is 2-1 since they put a QB in there that doesn't turn the ball over multiple times per game. You don't have to say anything. I'll continue to enjoy their wins. Enjoy the mediocrity.
  4. QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 06:10 PM) I hope you aren't counting on 7 pass attempts a week being a normal thing. The Bears don't have an NFL offense. If you can't see that, I am not sure what to say here.
  5. QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) The Bears offense? Did I miss the part where they needed to score more to win comfortably? I hope you aren't counting on two defensive touchdowns a week being a normal thing.
  6. QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) Saying a team shouldn't have won a game when they led for nearly all 4 quarters, including them being up two scores for nearly 3 of the quarters, seems pretty dumb to me. They likely call plays a bit differently if they are down there. They just didn't need to. The Bears defense absolutely dominated Carolina. And their offense managed 3 points.
  7. Can we get back to Eloy? Find another place for the petty whining.

  9. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 21, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) I just heard on the score that Chris bosio got fired. I guess he's taking the sword for the genius Maddon. Wow, that dude is going to be snapped up really quick.
  10. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 21, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Wish him well. Hope he retires. He's not good even when healthy (which is very, very rare...) Thats not really true. The problem is that he is never healthy.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Ep 2 response. 15 minutes in. After the first couple scenes. Jesus Christ Rami Malek is the best f***ing actor on Earth. The 1st episode was pretty broad and wide open, but the second really brought things back into good focus and started moving things along again. Nice start to the season.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) Think we will see a Schwarber for Betances trade this offseason Why?
  13. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) Yeah, but what Republicans are speaking out (and by speaking out, I mean consistently)? Those that have retired from political life or have already retired. People who aren't up for election in 2018. The fact that Flake - who is running in 2018 - is the only Senator running in '18 who has spoken out against the President speaks volumes. 89% of registered Republicans voted for Trump in '16. Lots of Republicans spoke out about Trump during the campaign, but 89% still voted for him. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cbs-news-exit-...-us-presidency/ After Donald Trump does something extreme, you get tepid "that's bad" from Republican legislators. I hope that if a similarly extreme Democrat was somehow elected president that you would get consistent pushback from the Democratic Party... I have yet to see any Democrat face anything near the backlash that the Republicans give to their own. Democrats march in lockstep with their leaders right or wrong.
  14. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) Respectfully, I think you are looking at this the wrong way. Your flat Earth analogy isn't on point with what we're dealing with here because this isn't about convincing the flat Earthers that the world is round. It's convincing enough people who either don't care about the argument generally to agree that the Earth is round. The goal is to prevent Donald Trump - who is uniquely unqualified for the job as President of the United States - from winning a second term. That doesn't mean only convincing Donald Trump's supporters that he is uniquely unqualified, it also involves getting people who might not have voted because of voter ID laws, or people who feel that both parties are different sides of the same coin, or people who are apathetic about politics to participate in 2020. It's about creating as large of a tent as possible from the voter pool. If someone feels that the political machine systematically ignores the issues minorities face in this country because they don't confront racist words and acts, you risk pushing that voter out of your tent - and that should be an easier person to pull into the tent than the person who thinks that kneeling during the National Anthem is the worst sin an American can commit. Based on what we've seen in the first 10 months of the Trump Presidency, I have no hope that said support is going to come from Republicans in any meaningful way. Politico had an article up about Jeff Flake today (linked below) that was littered with quotes from Republicans wondering why Flake would criticize the President in an election year. Trump's base is rabid, and his base is keeping previously mainstream Republicans from talking about the stuff that makes President Trump uniquely unqualified to lead. You need more Republicans to speak out against the things that make Donald Trump unique. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/19/j...-arizona-243925 More Republicans have spoken out against Trump than any President of the same part in my lifetime. By far.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) Why does it feel like if Democrats elected Susan Sarandon for president we wouldn't be hearing that it was actually the fault of republicans for not creating an accurate tier system of liberal labels to help us decide who was an acceptable candidate. I'd full well admit that the Sanders presidency run was set up by the right wing gobbling up moderates on the Democratic side. Hell they are going after Donnelly here in Indiana who was voted least supportive of the Dems, knowing it full well could result in one less moderate and one more radical left winger.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) IMO its actually the opposite. Demonizing Bush led to the rise of people like Trump because when people tried to show how Trump is truly an evil/incompetent/unfit person it just seemed like noise. Its no different than the boy that cried wolf, if you call every little puppy a wolf, eventually people tune it out and then when the real wolf comes, no one listens. And Im not saying Bush was good/bad, just that when you say he is a "war criminal", you then have to put a bunch of other President's into that list as well. Id rather not deal in sensationalism. If you believe Bush was wrong on X, say he was wrong on X. The same away if Obama is wrong with Y. But its way to easy to say "Bush/Obama are war criminals", and that is what society is becoming. Most of life is grey, its not black, its not white. Boy that sounds familiar...
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) What do people think would have been an acceptable deal with the Yanks? Subtract Kahnle and Rutherford from the deal and its close? Replace Rutherford with a lower prospect than even Polo and Clarkin? Then we make Kahnle the closer post-trade and beginning of next season to flip at deadline? Supposedly the Yankees had no interest until Tommy K was put on the table.

  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:48 AM) Trump White House debates presidential visit to demilitarized zone along North Korean border OMG. We would quite literally have WW3.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) None of us were there or saw how things escalate so I think it is lazy for everyone to just assume and point finger at Gar/Pax (in the case of this) and deflect the blame from the individuals directly involved. That said, below is a quote from Cowley referring to Doug Collins being upset. Of course it is Portis and Niko's fault more than anyone else, but as in any employment situation when the employees can't handle it, it then becomes managements problem to step in and solve. More than Pax and Gar this rests on Hoiberg. But if Doug Collins can walk in that quickly and see a problem, but everyone else can't do anything about it over a period of years, that goes to my point exactly. If players couldn't fix it, then management needs to do it.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) There is a difference between blaming Gar and Pax for basketball decisions, etc., and throwing the blame on this incident on them. It's the easy/lazy thing for fans to do. Here's the problem. If this is something that has been building for years, there is plenty of blame to go around. First off the Coach needs to be the person who steps in here and either fixes this or figures out a way for them to co-exist. If that can't be accomplished, then the Coach needs to go to upper management and tell them that one of these guys needs to go. If the Coach isn't able to handle the situation, it is up to upper management to either decide that the Coach isn't able to do his job and find someone who can, or to look at Player A or B as the problem and move them out of the organization before something awful happens. Especially when you factor in that Niko was just a free agent that the Bulls didn't have to bring back, this situation could have been easily "solved" by not resigning the guy. If Portis was the problem, find somewhere else for him to go. It isn't lazy to point that out.

  23. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 01:26 AM) I believe if they take someone else off the roster with an injury, Seager can be added back. The catch is the player that comes off of the roster can't be on the WS roster either.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) Their record is good, but they definitely haven't been too impressive after winning the first two games 15-2. The last few games have been much closer to what we saw at the end of last year.
