  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Hey Chili, What was your minimum PAs for Avi in our wager? 550? Could be close... If you follow MLB leaders rules you have already won.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Sorry, gonna have to wait, not playing tonight. Looking at this roster, not much reason to even watch tonight. https://twitter.com/MarkLazerus/status/910151611305086981 Blah. All though the fact he isn't going with the rest of the starters... hopefully that is a sign they wanted him working with the big named guys.
  4. They didn't wiretap Trump... they wiretapped everyone! As if that's better. Awesome.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) Wow. Just saw that on baseball reference. For the 2019 season. Highlights https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/nate...er-surgery.html
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) Yah I'd say all of these guys are probably gone shortly after the season ends: Alburquerque, Beck, Farquhar, Holmberg, Volstad, and Brantley. That would put the 40 man at 32. One more wild card to throw out there... Zach Putnam will be non-tendered, so will not need to be added back. Geo Soto will be a free agent so he won't need to be added back either. The only guy who will need (in my guess) adding will be Charlie Tilson.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) I think your "flippable" player who provides significant value in a trade is already in the organzation. His name is Nate Jones. If he can stay healthy sure. The really good news is that because of his lack of health, his contract now has a minimum wage year in it.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) Probably could use a bigger body on that second line. I'm very intrigued to see if DeBrincat makes the roster to and see what he is capable of. I know to keep expectations low though. I just wanted to post exactly this. I hope he is in the line up tonight because I am excited to see if he can stand up to NHL size.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) Bulls have hired Doug Collins as a Senior Advisor that will report directly to John Paxson. So I wonder if he is here to potentially replace Forman or Hoiberg?
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Could be wrong but I thought Hahn had said last winter that he wanted to rebuild before the Shark trade and Robertson/Melky signings but those acquisitions were a last ditch effort by KW and JR. I do not remember seeing Kenny Williams attached to that.
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) IIRC. I think last winter Hahn indicated that he wanted to rebuild sooner but JR and KW wanted to go for it. I don't think KW was onboard with the idea until the 2016 unraveled on them and that's when KW changed his tune which eventually convinced JR to finally rebuild. I have not seen anything that said Williams opposed a rebuild. In fact I remember seeing that Kenny had wanted to rebuild at times, but was overruled.
  12. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 12:22 AM) wouldn't surprise me if they go with a 6-man at some point next year, maybe not for the full year but perhaps to start the season or start the all-star break Historically that sounds nothing like the White Sox. They will try everything they can to get these guys stretched to a full season. If they have dead arm periods they will either be skipped or they will be DL'd and replaced. The White Sox typically push guys to get their innings if at all possible.
  13. My guess is that we aren't looking at a guy that is a year removed away from decency. We are probably talking about people who are two to three years past their good year/s, and/or guys who are high ceilings but have never gotten there.
  14. To be honest, I am not quite sure what the rush to Trubisky even is about. This is a trash team that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Why rush him in? So the Bears can win 5 games instead of 3? Eh. Let the kid learn the game from the safety of the sideline as long as possible. He has absolutely nothing to throw to anyway, so what is he going to learn?
  15. Odds are that Lunchables will be worth more than most of these guys.
  16. I think I asked about it earlier in here, but Turn, Washington's Spies is a great series.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) Yep. Then you factor in that they'll need to make room for the few guys on the 60-day dl soon along with anyone who may need to be added protected from the Rule 5 draft. You do have the Pelfrey slot about to open soon, and I am sure there will be some other roster managment moves made over the next month to clean it up a bit. We already saw Holmberg dumped once already. I have to imagine Volstad, Farquar and Albequeque aren't long for the roster either. I'd also guess that Brantley and one of the OFs (Rymer, Hansen, or Willy) are also purged.
  18. The writing was on the wall when the White Sox didn't even recall him despite being on the 40 man roster.
  19. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) Agree. But a young player who is "really struggling" and does not try switching bats on the suggestion of the coaching staff seems a little far-fetched. Now maybe the coaching staff came up w the idea and asked Abreu to be the messenger. What would you think would happen if Coop makes a suggestion to Lopez, Giolito or Fulmer and they decide to ignore it??? Players not listening to coaching happens all of the time.

  21. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) If I were Rick Hahn I would have resigned as the White Sox GM. He has been the worse GM in modern White Sox history. (post 1951) He has been a flop as the GM. Between his lousy drafts, trades and free agent signings he should hang his head in shame and leave the scene. Being a lifelong Cubs fan he should try to hook up for another job at Wrigley Field.
  22. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Blake is literally a kid a year removed from high school. Are you going to give him the same 7-8 years to develop like Avi has been given unquestionably? Avi Garcia is exactly why people should have patience with talented prospects.
  23. Just for reference's sake, when people talk about age and experience, Sale, Quintana, Eaton, and Kahnle were all years further from free agency than Avi is. It isn't about age or experience, the idea behind trading him is to have people that will be here when the Revolution is complete.
  24. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) If Melky Cabrera was 26.. Would you really give him a 5 year 80 million dollar deal? The perfect comp to Avi Garcia is Melky.. period. Considering he is coming off of a 3/42 that he signed at age 30, it isn't THAT crazy.
  25. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) They got a short, 28 or 29 year old PG "star" who can't play defense and who has legitimate hip problems on a one year deal. He's not even going to play a full season. They're going to have to decide whether to offer him a max deal, or near max deal, to be their franchise player once Lebron leaves. I wouldn't want the Bulls to be in that position a year from now. That's a hard, hard pass. They got a 27 year old Jae Crowder, an ok role player who can't shoot very well and has had his own problems with injuries (ankle) that Celtics fans will tell you limited his defense (the one reason you would want him) They got Ante Aizic, someone who will probably never play. And they got the Brooklyn pick, which may or may not be great. The Nets won't be good, but the east will be super s***ty and the Nets have no incentive to tank. The Bulls, Pacers, Hawks, Kings, Magic are going to be worse. Are the Lakers really going to win 25-30 games? It'll be a lottery pick, but not necessarily a top 7 pick. On the other hand, the Bulls got Zach Lavine, a 22 year old super-athlete who averaged 19, 3 and 3 last year and has consistently gotten better each year he's played. The ACL tear is worrisome but plenty of guys have come back from it. They also got a big, beefy PG prospect that had a bad rookie season playing under Thibs (not uncommon) but still has tons of potential, and the #7 pick in the draft who at worst will be Niko 2.0, i.e., an ok role player. I don't see how, in any way, this is a substantially worse deal than what the Celtics got. They got the NBA's leading scorer. As much as you want to undersell Thomas, he is Derrick Rose in his prime.
