Trade avi in the offseason?
Thought I had about Avi. He almost seems to be rounding into an old school average hitter along the Wade Boggs/Tony Gwynn school of hitting. Guys who took the power swing when the pitch was there, but were more worried about making contact and getting on base.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) The Noah stuff was kind of odd, I had no problem watching him walk last year because his knees were done. Everything else i agreed with He quite literally destroyed his body because of the love of the game.

If you were Rick Hahn...
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) Weren't they one of the first? The Bears are the bigger crooks. Even the White Sox had threatened to leave Chicago multiple times before JR and company came into ownership.

9/20/2017 Sox v. Astros
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 09:43 PM) I've been down on TA but he's come on very strong this last 35 odd games. Hopefully he can carry this into the offseason and next year. This would NOT include last nights game. Dom @WhiteSoxDom Tim Anderson in 42 G/182 PA since the Stroman game: .324/.335/.547 (.883 OPS) 13 2B, 3 3B, 7 HR 27 R, 24 RBI .370 wOBA, 133 wRC+ 7 SB, 1 CS

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 12:42 AM) Blemish. That was a great move by them. They have a stadium and didn't pay for it. Imagine the payroll for the players if the sox were paying for the stadium as well. that's like blaming the players for the money the owners give them. You get what you can get when you can get it. Considering they did what pretty much every single other in professional sports has done, I am not sure you could call that a blemish, unless you are holding all other professional team owners to decades long grudges over their new stadiums.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) What makes you think there isn't something like that now. It doesn't appear so but you never know with what they can invent in a lab. I think it's more the ball right now. I have to admit, that is my first thought as well.

2018 pitching staff
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) Santiago is probably done. Was throwing low 80s in rehab starts with the Twins AAA team. Someone may sign him to a minors deal, but his time in the majors may be over. He could well be done, but those are the kinds of signings I would expect from the White Sox. They are trash picking this year.

A few wild guesses for signings and invites: SP Hector Santiago Clay Buchholz RP Zach Duke Joe Blanton Ernesto Freiri Plus some unknown MiLB free agents and wire claims.

2018 pitching staff
We will see a significant amount of players added to that mix. The White Sox will almost certainly be a major player in the Rule 5 draft. They have two open roster spots as of today and they have a large amount of players who could hit the road after the season is over. The White Sox area always a team who is active in signing everything from minor league free agents to major league free agents who are looking for a second, third, or even final chance at a career turn around. It wouldn't shock me to see the White Sox add around half a dozen pitchers in this category alone, most of whom will fail. Finally the Sox still have Avi Garcia and Jose Abreu on the roster, both of whom could ended up being traded in the off season.
