President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 08:18 AM) I will never understand why it's supposed to be good for these guys to be able to sell you what's in their best interest, not yours. I did explain the big problem with this rule to you before, but understanding it isn't in your interest.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 12:23 AM) Idk man, might have prevented my grandmother from blowing generational wealth in the 80s. Long term it is going to prevent regular people from having managed accounts. Companies are going to pay the sort of costs to maintain this rule on accounts that aren't huge.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) 4. The fiduciary standard gets punted Perhaps the biggest financial reform of the late Obama era was the "fiduciary rule," the 2015 Obama regulation that requires investment advisers to act in the best interest of their clients when selling products like retirement investments. (The concern was that many advisers were pushing investments with a higher commission for the adviser, rather than a better return for the client.) It was assumed to be doomed under the new administration, but Democrats enjoyed a brief moment of celebration in May when Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that he would allow the rule to take effect in early June. It now appears the celebration was premature. Only part of the rule took effect in June, and the Labor Department isn't enforcing that part until the entire rule takes effect on January 1, 2018. But now even that won't be happening: This week, in a court filing, the Labor Department revealed that it had sent a rule to the White House for review that would delay full implementation of the fiduciary rule for 18 months, until July 1, 2019—enough time for the Trump administration to make significant changes or repeal it altogether. Politico.com The Fiduciary rule was a steaming pile of garbage. Good riddance to stupid legislation. The other side is that FINRA/SEC are probably going to be putting their own similar rules on the books without Congress, but they will be way better thought out.

Sox acquire Ryan Burr for int'l pool $$$
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Well our very own FutureSox left Delmonico off the Sox top 30. He was going to catch on to the list, but then he dropped it.

Who has best farm system: ATL or Sox?
QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Not a big deal, but does it irk anyone else that the day a prospect "graduates," they are worth zero in these kinds of rankings? I get that they have become major leaguers, and that lists like this are just a snapshot in time, but I would love some kind of system that uses weights of some kind so players could still factor in in some form. It's not like a guy like Moncada is a prospect with X major league at bats and not a prospect with X+1 major league at bats. It'd be cool if there was room for scale or gradient. Prospects are quite literally defined by rookie status. If you don't have rookie status anymore, you aren't a prospect anymore. When comparing for the #1 system, losing the #1 prospect to the majors can effect that status.

8/9
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:47 AM) I agree Fulmer was rushed, but I also feel that other pitching prospects in the system have overtaken him and are more likely to pan out as starting pitchers at this point (Giolito, Lopez, Hansen, Dunning, Adams, Guerrero, Stephens). This is true, but it doesn't mean you pull the plug on Fulmer either.

A Star is Born
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) he should clear waivers with ease, but I'm not sure anyone wants that contract even for a PTBNL Good point. That toxicity affects business BTW. He has no respect for authority. The FO wants him gone. There was no point in holding on to him with such a bad attitude.

A Star is Born
QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) Sale and Eaton started it. The sox FO viewed them as toxic and wanted them out. After trading them, it really started the rebuild. That toxicity affects business BTW. Sale had no respect for authority. The FO wanted him gone. There was no point in holding on to Q or others with such a bad team. Is there a trading block for posters? Maybe we can get a PTBNL?

A Star is Born
QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 07:54 AM) Regardless of what the board thinks, that is why He was traded in the first place. Unprofessional + the laroche saga is what started it all. FO was sick of him. Same with Eaton. How in the world can people still hold on to this? This is 100% laughable.

Hahn on 670 the score now - 1140 am Central
On Sept call ups Hahn said maybe another C, couple more pen arms, maybe another OF. Did mention Giolito specifically, but refused to confirm or deny... while kind of hinting that they would call him up. Wouldn't mention specific names, wanted to inform players first. Haven't decided on any specifics as of yet. Will say that unequivocally, Brian asked better questions in his podcast than Perkins did as a 50,000 watt radio station host.

Hahn on 670 the score now - 1140 am Central
The most interesting thing Hahn clearly said the report that JR held up the deal for a period of days was "not accurate". Stands by the timeline that they released.
