Matt Davidson to DL, Avi Garcia back
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 03:43 PM) Davidson was out 6 games prior to the DL listing. Are they back-dating the DL time? They always do. No reason not to.

Tebow
I'd be more worried about who we gave up to get him and where he would play in the minors as there aren't a lot of OF slots left in the system as opposed to who he is etc. There is zero chance I would call him up this year, no matter how many tickets he would sell. It sends a terrible message to the rest of the system.

Robert out a week to 10 days
QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) This. The injuries are the minor-est of injuries and he could probably just rest for a couple days. But it's much better to be cautious. Realistically, there isn't any need to push him through it. This season is literally just about getting him back into baseball shape. Letting a minor injury turn into a nagging injury does the opposite of that.

The Korea Situation; It's Very Serious
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) There is very real danger there. There's also very real danger in taking military action against NK, which you never want to acknowledge. It's not a non sequitor to point out that you're willing to risk millions of peoples' lives for your preferred NK solution, but you're not willing to risk your own. That's not about political points, either. There's nothing Republican or Democratic there. It's about "attacking NK is going to lead to at least hundreds of thousands of deaths, possibly millions." Doing nothing IS risking millions of lives. That is what you are all missing here. But they aren't white, so American's don't generally care.

The Korea Situation; It's Very Serious
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) When are you signing your family up for military service, possibly moving them to Seoul to be first in line when the missiles rain down in response to military action against NK? lol, nice non sequitor. If you can't see the danger here, there isn't anything that can be said to change it. The same people have been feeding the same lines for decades now yet NK keeps going towards this end game. But the important thing here is political points.

The Korea Situation; It's Very Serious
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 12:03 PM) Come on now, SSK. You obviously know that the alternative to all the sanctions and whatnot of NK was an invasion - either by bombing campaign or an actual ground force. Who knows how China reacts to that. NK definitely reacts by sending missiles into South Korea. Millions of South Koreans probably die which destabilizes that entire region. I mean, NK's nuclear program is definitely a concern and a major risk to the West, but let's not act like there was a particularly reasonable alternative to sanctions and more sanctions. This is what appeasement is. I have been told for decades that there is nothing we can do about it, they aren't a threat, if we give them what they want they will back off etc. Instead we have a disaster waiting to happen. And we are going to keep waiting until it happens, and then everyone will take joy in pointing fingers and pretending like they tried to stop it from getting this far like they did with 9/11.

Reds Claim DJ Peterson from White Sox
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) Whats the harm though? The sox had 5 open 40 man spots (with a slew of guys who won't be on it in a few months). If they don't like what they see, they can DFA him whenever and try to keep him in organization. There really is no harm at all, and you never know when a change of scenery makes something click for a guy like this. Chances of him becoming an asset are very small, but there is literally zero risk. This exactly. If something better comes along, you dump him. Heck in a couple of months we are going to have a lot more 40 man spots opening as well.

Who's getting promoted?
QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) A little under one month left in the season for the Minor Leagues. Do we see any of our top prospects earn a promotion? Would have to think that Jimenez, Burger, Hansen, Kopech, Stephens, and Dunning could all be in line for a promotion to end the season. With as full as some of the levels are, and with as many guys have been cut in the last month or so, I am guessing that there won't be a lot of last season move ups. It might be different if some of the upper levels had playoff teams. As of right now the only playoff team we have is Kannapolis, so moving kids out of there would actually mean them losing ABs and playoff experience. The White Sox do seem to like their guys to get that experience, so I see zero chance that guys like Sheets, Adolfo, Fisher, Rutherford, Burger, Gonzalez, etc who are in Kanny are promoted.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 05:27 AM) Love that actor. The Wite, The Dark Knight Rises... but Little Finger is his best role. He's been brilliant throughout. Agreed. Honestly the entire show is well cast. Even the kids have grown into their roles as they have aged amazingly well.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) If the White Sox think he's a left handed Frank Thomas, taking him #1 wouldn't be considered stupid 20 years from now if they were correct. But a guy who could be Carlos Correa wouldn't be bad either. The thing is, Beer's bat will probably be ready by 2020. A HS SS probably will not, and you are going to have to trust the White Sox developmental team. A lot will happen between now and the draft. It will be interesting to see how they are lined up by the gurus next June. If you gave me the choice between the next Frank Thomas and the next Mike Trout, I am taking Trout every time as he can alter a game on multiple levels. But what it all comes down to is scouting. What are they telling you?

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) I don't understand the thought process behind those that "don't believe" it's a rebuild and JR is just being cheap, and wanting to spend bad money on free agents just to prove a point. JD Martinez? Jake Arrieta? Those are bad long term investments for all 30 MLB teams. Decades of grudges are hard to overcome.
