  1. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) He is 23 playing in A ball. Very slim chance he ever sniffs the majors. Only shot would be as a reliever. Or if they fix whatever is wrong with him ala Tommy Kahnle.
  2. Saladino has great instincts at 3B.
  3. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) Davis is the definition of a fringe prospect. Puckett is the real asset here. And raw. Big fastball, was a two way player.
  4. As a FWIW, if they aren't convinced in any of the upper level kids for LF, this also opens up the door to be able to bring him back easier, as they don't have to worry about the whole arbitration offer and process with Melky. It probably won't happen, but it does eliminate some of those potential issues as he is going to be getting a pretty serious paycut next year.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) Hopefully the players remaining know this is part of the process, and their job is to be professional and play hard, otherwise somebody else is going to take their position. The remaining players all have contracts and futures to fight for, outside of maybe Abreu. If they don't play hard, they won't have jobs on a major league roster next year.
  6. This is the MLB.com report on Puckett
  7. This is Andre Davis https://www.baseball-reference.com/register...id=davis-000byr http://blackcollegenines.com/?p=2535 http://blackcollegenines.com/?p=2958
  8. According to MLB.com, RHP Puckett is the Royals #13 prospect, is 9-7, 3.90 ERA at A+ 98K, 46 BB in 108.1 IP this season. He was a 2nd rd pick in 2016
  9. I am going to wild card guess Luis Robert
  10. He is taking way too many strikes at this point. So far I am wondering about his pitch recognition, or if he is too hesitant to swing.
  11. Hanging up on tweets now? Bleh.
  12. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) There's a reason someone just dropped 50 million to build a stadium for an unaffiliated minor league team and Rosemont offered free land to the Cubs to build a stadium. It's a perfect place to put a big entertainment spot. You have easy highway access, endless parking, airport, metra access, CTA link, tons of food/bar/entertainment/casion/shopping options and most importantly a population base with a ton of money. Rosemont is in the dead center of Cubs country. You notice Rosemont didn't make the same offer to the White Sox?
  13. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 06:00 PM) Judging by attendance and TV ratings it's not much of a fan base and you'll place the team in fairly centralized geographic area with a fairly affluent high income population base with decent access to public transportation. At some point they're going to start thinking about a new stadium and and for the Sox sake I hope they seriously consider getting out of the south side. The NW burbs are the opposite of centralized. It is one thing to say move downtown to the actual center of the metro area. It is another to move south as that is where their fan base is. Rosemont makes no sense at all.
  14. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) You'll build a whole new fan base, one that might actually support the team. It would take a generation at least to do that, and in the meantime you would lose your existing fan base.
  15. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 05:49 PM) Tinley Park is a pretty terrible place to build anything. 80% of Chicagoland would view Tinley Park as an inconvenient drive. The absolute best place to build a park was Rosemont. They're actually putting an unaffiliated minor league team there and I'm willing to bet they'll do fantastically well in terms of attendance. The south side baseball team to the NW suburbs? That would be awful.

  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) Kopech has only thrown 233 minor league innings, I would prefer to wait on him until 2019. Why start his service clock any sooner than necessary as well? He should start 2018 in AAA though. He still needs to cut down the walks otherwise MLB hitters will lay off his great stuff. I said it in a minor league thread the other day, but he is just about to hit 100 IP in a season for the first time ever. He is also still walking 5 guys per 9 IP. Until you get him through an innings base (say 150 to 180) and more into the 3 BB/9 range, he can wait. One of the biggest things that people tore down the Sox player development for is rushing people. Now we have no need to and I think the White Sox are starting to buy into that philosophy. In years past I would put money on Moncada, Giolito and Lopez all having been on the opening day roster. It is July 28th and only one of those guys is in Chicago. A guy like Kopech has spent the entire season at AA. Despite Adolfo and Jimenez tearing the cover off of the ball for extended periods, they are still in A ball. I don't think the White Sox want to rush Koepech.

  19. Chris Boden‏Verified account @CSNBoden 2h2 hours ago #Bears Fox clarifies McPhee scope was "cleanup". Doesnt see this as Fuller situation last yt, when missed whole season.
  20. I know aggressive promotions have been a big argument around these parts... it is interesting to see both the Dodgers and Braves mentioned here, and not the White Sox. http://www.baseballamerica.com/chat/?1501251328
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 02:51 PM) Holland does have some value to the Sox. He goes almost 4 innings every 5 days. I guess you can't spell Holland without the lol.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) But Jay Cutler did find a job, just not in the NFL. Do you think the NFL Network, CBS, Fox, NBC, or ESPN will reach out to Kaepernick? For the purpose of collusion, it is irrelevant.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Of course, but find a guy who can't play but is fast, or is a good defender. Or some guy who whiffs all the time but has some power. Or a 24 year old in A ball who has a 9.00 ERA and walks a guy an inning, but can throw 97. A Courtney Hawkins, Jared Mitchell equivalent, and pay the freight. At least there is a million to one hope. And if teams don't want to give you that, then keep him in the rotation. You find the best offer you can get and ship him out. Even a C level guy is better than nothing.
  24. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) I'm confused as to why any team would be interested in Holland? He's a veteran with a 6.02 FIP this season and a negative WAR. Most teams have somebody in AAA they could call up and put up at least a 6.00 FIP down the stretch? Honestly the fact that anyone wants him is the headline here. He is going to generate a garbage return at best.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) Yes, it's more in the lines of, if you pay his entire salary, and we give you back basically nothing we may have some interest in acquiring him. At this point, someone has to pitch. Unless you are getting someone with a plus tool, and not your typical 25 year old in high A stinking up the joint, you might as well let him get killed for you. Did I miss someone expecting a big return for Holland?
