Q may get moved "sooner than you think"
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Kahnle isn't a must go, but it would be ideal. He's got youth and team control on his side, but generally, you want to trade all the relievers you can. I think in the cases of both Avi and Tommy, it will be impossible for a team to give the type of price tag that the White Sox will put on them, especially when the Sox have so many guys they really have to deal in the next few weeks.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) Swarzak will be pitching for a different team August 1st barring injury. He should be able to return a decent piece. No doubt he will be somewhere else. Hopefully he brings back at least a B rate guy.

Luis Robert injured
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) Usually I would have an issue with this approach, but since Robert had been out of baseball for an extended duration, it makes sense that he is eased back into things and is able to build some success. I would like to see him in the US in time for instructs in the fall, but I am not sure how that affects his agreement on tax shielding. As long as he is not driving, there is no real issue with him staying in the DSL. If it makes one feel better think of it as his spring training. The guy hasn't played real baseball in a year.

Q may get moved "sooner than you think"
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:00 AM) That post was a reference to a twitter user reporting trade rumors related to Quintana who had a user handle of "gay bar tourist". Tweet linked earlier today It's called comedy. Humor. As a moderator I'd suspect that you're supposed to have enough composure to either ignore users who you don't care for or at least abide by the rule of not engaging in a personal attack. Contrary to your statement, I do contribute... have contributed for what... 13 years... and have no intention of getting lost. My personality is not a "shtick" that can be subjected to your arbitrary judgement and presented as objective fact. In this case, my wit likely went over your head and your continued personal disdain towards me lead to you yourself breaking a board policy. Just ignore me. There's plenty of other moderators on the forums who can take me off your hands. It really isn't funny, especially the fecal obsession. It isn't about ignoring someone when it happens over and over and over. If you really want to keep around, it needs to change.

Q may get moved "sooner than you think"
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) He has a point. We have heard it all before. Hahn may be lying, but he has said before nothing was anywhere near close with Q. You wouldn't have concluded that with the previous rumors, the exact same kind of rumors we see now. This could be more BS. I think he is like many like me who are at the point of I believe it when I see it. I am not at the point where I am refreshing the screen every 10 seconds, because I bought too much of it previously. Eventually it will happen. Maybe today. Maybe in the next couple of weeks. Maybe next winter. Maybe in 2020. I don't recall ever hearing something about this being close.

7/11 Games
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:51 PM) Adams has really picked up the K rate this season. Actually, the same can be said for Guerrero. Both have been impressive and should finish the season at Charlotte. It seems like a month ago people were writing Spencer off... mostly because they were.

Earhart may have died in Japanese custody
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/ju...isoner-by-japan The image was part of a Japanese-language travelogue about the South Seas that was published almost two years before Earhart disappeared. Page 113 states the book was published in Japanese-held Palau on 10 October 1935. And that is why I would love to see their programming go back to being more two sided. They wasted two hours on something a random dude smashed in 10 freaking images. Damn.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) I think it's strange that no other team's rumor mill is churning like ours is about this. We are the one team committed to selling who has premium parts for sale.

Quintana
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) Tin foil hat time, but maybe Hahn is trying to use the unwritten rule of not overshadowing the all star game to leverage teams by saying we are looking to get this done soon and then putting out all these rumors and telling teams that one team popped and is offering what were asking and that we are going to take it, but are waiting until tomorrow, which gives the other teams time to up their offers. That would be awful smart of him, especially when you have an event where everyone is in the same town at once. Build a sense of urgency.

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) I know the Sox are 9 games ahead of the Phillies right now, but I really don't think that is too big of a gap to jump. With that difficult of a schedule plus selling pieces off and bringing up inexperienced players, it really wouldn't surprise me terribly for them to play right around .300 baseball down the stretch. Frankly, once Quintana is gone, I don't see much of a reason to keep around guys like Shields, Melky, Frazier, Swarzak, Holland, Gonzalez, or Robertson, though they'll be dealt as the offers come in. Maybe we even see surprises and guys like Kahnle and Avisail are dealt too. The team could be really, really ugly in the second half. The suck has only begun. We are about to get worse in the starting rotation and in the infield defense, as well as the bullpen. It is going to be ugly with a capital U after the deals start.

Quintana
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) Braves are so deep that they could definitely form an attractive trade package for Quintana and not be all that damaged as a result. Albies/Acuna/Maitan + two or three more prospects would be very attractive The BEST you can hope for there is 2 out of 3. My guess is one of Albies/Acuna is the other limitation.

Quintana
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) "Scott Carasik @CarasikS Follow More Braves are pushing hard for Quintana from the White Sox. Large package of prospects looking like what gets deal done.WS want a top 3 org bat" No source attached, but this is certainly a very interesting development if true... Good. I am happy to see them still sticking with the high price tag.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) Yet when it was Hillary's and her staffs' emails that were hacked, and Wikileaks made public, this holier than thou attitude didn't persist. In fact, most of the right WELCOMED AND APPLAUDED IT. They just have a problem when they are the ones who have private conversations leaked. And we have these because Jr. put them all on twitter. Dems have tried the go high technique. Unfortunately all that is left is to out Trump Trump. And the right can't complain since they do absolutely nothing about Trump when he is sexist or classless, or just plain dumb except mention Hillary or Obama and look the other way. When they mention the troubles with leaks, then have a problem with Hillary's leaks. Actually I was impressed by how much the Dem's turned on Wikileaks when this happened, after fully embracing them when it happened to Bush. I was mostly amazed at how quickly the reformed into a GOP partisian machine.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) I'm sure, according to SS, Benghazi was in no way political either. I'm sure Bill's impeachment was in no way political. And frankly, who the f*** cares?? Are you seriously suggesting Dems NOT use this stuff for political gain? You'd support the GOP doing it if the situation were reversed, I have no doubt. Your double standard is honestly baffling. Uh, no. It was all political.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) You keep referring to this investigation of the Trump campaign's collusion with Russia in hacking the election as "politicized." This is a criminal investigation into the extent to which the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 election, and the extent to which Trump obstructed justice when he asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn, and then subsequently fired Comey. Previously, Flynn had to resign after failing to disclose contacts with Russians. Today we got e-mails released that prove Donald Trump Jr. (and Kushner and Manafort) met with people who claimed to be Russian operatives in an attempt to receive negative information in Russia's possession that portrayed Hillary Clinton in a negative light - something that is absolutely illegal. What will it take for you to stop calling this "politicized" and start calling it what it is? That is a quality reframing, I will admit that. What it doesn't identify is that this is what is somehow being made public, not what is happening at the intelligence level. Just because we are now learning of it, doesn't mean they are. In fact the whole idea that more and more top secret intelligence is being leaked only reinforces the political nature of this now. So we are back to a political operation that denigrates our entire government stability and standing while risking war with our most dangerous enemy, all in an attempt to delegitimize someone who needs absolutely no help delegitimatizing himself in front of the entire world.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) I think this is correct, but I think the case against Obama looks much stronger in hindsight than it did at the time. It looked like Hillary was going to cruise to victory and that this could all have been dealt with after the election at a time it would be less politicized. The onus changed 100% when Hillary lost. It wouldn't have been politicized if she had won, and it wasn't before because they thought she would win.

Q may get moved "sooner than you think"
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) I did think it would be quite funny if the Sox took Torres, Fowler and Kaprielian and let Herm work his magic that would be absolutely terrible unless they got back more players in exchange for that incredible amount of risk.
