"White Sox fire sale isn’t over — it just got paused"
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) I look at it this way....in 13-14 years when the lease is up, you never know what the landscape of the world and MLB will be. Nothing is impossible, but for now, enjoy the rebuild and hope the Sox are the team of the 2020's. Unless Chicago has turned into Gary, I can't see it.

Lopez/Giolito/Kopech/Moncada/Fulmer sent down
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) Only mild surprise to me is Soto, who I thought had a shot at the last bullpen slot. Looks like now it's either Ynoa or Luebke. Chris Beck sure has fallen off the radar. Crumbles when facing MLB hitters, though in his defense he is also coming off an injury and lots of missed time. Beck seemed like a candidate for the pen as much as he was up last year. He didn't even make it past the first cut. To me that is a pretty big surprise with all of the other guys that could have been sent out.

White Sox Scout Yankees for Potential Q Trade
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) I doubt the Yankees would make a 5 for 1 or 6 for 1 trade for Q. Besides, I want a couple really good prospects instead of a bunch of decent ones. Those players would be better than just about anyone in our system that wasn't acquired since the 2016 draft.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Million dollar arm, ten cent head. Not that's necessarily the case here as I haven't heard that about him, but players talented than him have busted. This is my number one fear about him. Guys like that tend to be boom or bust, and not much in between.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) Sounds like Mizzou is about to land Cuonzo Martin for an eye opening 3.5 per. This means either two things (or both): - The prices of coaches are inflated this hiring season due to a number of schools with money to spend (u of I, mizzou, nc st) - Mizzou way over spent on Martin, a good, solid, not spectacular hire now being paid like the best in the game. I wonder where he places in the Illinois top 5?

White Sox Scout Yankees for Potential Q Trade
I think there is still plenty enough to get a deal done. If you clean out almost all of the rest of their top 10, I think you still win. Even without Torres and Frazier that still leaves position players like Mateo, Rutherford, Andujar, McKinney, Judge, and Garcia. I think every single one of those guys would be in our 3-5 top position players. That also doesn't touch their pitching depth. We could absolutely load up on quality and quantity.

Predict the 2017 Opening Day Roster
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) I think they will be up early. Melky SHOULD be traded at some point (no reason to hold onto him the rest of the season) so there should be an opening in LF at some point. I think the opposite. I think the reason they brought in all of the fringe guys that they did (Liriano, Asche, Burjos, Garcia) is that they knew these kids weren't ready, and they wanted to buy them potentially as much as a season for them to either be ready, or for new prospects to supplant them.

2017 Republican Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 09:16 AM) Even without reading the dateline on this article, this is how you know how old it is: ""This is the most transparent administration in history," Obama said during a Google Plus "Fireside" Hangout." His admin was hypocritical on this after his initial campaigning and even what they claimed during their time in office. It is his "Mission Accomplished" moment as far as I am concerned.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 07:58 AM) Has anyone really been referring to them as particularly transparent? This has been a maddening slide during his administration, which continued a slide under Bush. The general performance of both parties' leaders in this area has been s***ty to say the least. Obama and his admin were terrible about being transparent. It is how Obama referred to his own administration. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-roo...tion-in-history

Predict the 2017 Opening Day Roster
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) Maybe not, but I don't think Leury is anything more than a AAAA player and I would be highly surprised if he was a long term piece in this rebuild. May and Engel probably won't become MLB regulars either but I'd rather give them a shot since they've never had one. Leury is what he is at this point. Rushing kids who are not ready is the worst possible thing you can do in a rebuild. I'd rather start a line up of 4A players, than kids who still have more to learn in the minors.
