President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (brett05 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) Not sure what you are trying to say here on the second part. Missing some words I think. As for the first part, I literally did not. I told you where the idea originated. Not that if the dems think it's good we should do it. I know you don't understand, because you clearly have no grasp of the American Constitution.

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 10:53 AM) But why pay for a .7 WAR guy when someone from the minors would be nearly as good? .7 of a win is not worth spending money on. If the price is low, go for it. At worst he sucks and Giolitto replaces him in July. If he is good, he is trade bait.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) I'd rather draft a QB as well. With that being said, my top QB target would be Tyrod Taylor if he gets released. I could live with Garoppolo for a 2nd rounder + if Pace believes he's the guy. I have no problem with them picking up a Taylor or Romo off of the street if possible. Keep the position warm until you get draft/develop a guy. In the mean time, take one of the defensive difference makers. The D is the closest thing to legit that the Bears have. If they get guys to push pressure on a QB, that could turn them around quicker than a QB as the Bears still have some big holes on O.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) Carter-Kennedy in 1980? Ronald Reagan made a hell of a run at Gerald Ford in '76, which might not be a bad similarity with the craziness surrounding the Presidency right now.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (brett05 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) The only one suporting the dems in here and portraying a Conservative is you. But hey, you keep thinking nothign has been added. You libs do a great job of sticking your head in the ground and blame everyone else. You literally just told me that a policy was worth supporting because Barack Obama and Joe Biden did, while I still can obviously see that is violated the Religion clauses of our constitution.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Board Question: There was a decent article sometime back comparing how Trump could end up like Jimmy Carter, in that Carter fumbled his relationship with a majority dem congress so badly nothing of substance passed. If tax reform and ACA measures can't get passed (say takes too long then Dems gain the House in 18), do we see it as remotely possible Trump would be primaried? I don't think there is any question that someone will run against him. There are a couple of guys out there who have been setting themselves up to do so.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) As a snake bitten bears fan, I am very nervous about this "betters have Bears in lead to land Garrapolo" stuff. I just have no confidence that this will work out. I know it is probably irrational but I fully expect if we make a trade with the Patriots that Rick Mirer will get off of that plane. The Patriots just scream system. People go there and because super-human, and when they leave, they are never the same. We already saw that with their last back up QB they traded. There are so many things just screaming at me that this will fail, I'd rather just go through the draft and try that way.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (brett05 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) Feel free to pack those bags at anytime. I'll even drive ya. The feeling is mutual. The next time you give a clear, concise, policy driven post with any sort of actual thought process instead of repeating the talking points you are being fed... will be your first. All I have seen is name calling as a sad substitute for any intelligent thought. This board might be full of liberals, but at least 95% of them can put together a thought on their own. You have gotten to the point of supporting Barack Obama to make your point, and that is just sad.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (brett05 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 08:11 AM) 1) The Us Protects minority groups with refugees in general 2) You don't bring in minors without their parents 3) The list comes from President Obama 4) It's not unconstitutional, the 9th district did not rule on it's constitutionality 5) The nuclear option won't happen in time nor will it be necessary. As you all were wrong with the election you are all wrong thinking that this will be anything but in favor of the President. I have more faith in the liberals on the Courts than you liberals here. 6) The 11,000,000 are all criminals. Not just 800,000. You tell that it's ok to those families that have lost loved ones thanks to the crime of illegals. So far, greatest President ever. He made promises and he's keeping them at lightning speed including fixing our healthcare not just dismantling it like every single liberal though he'd do. I have to say, I am surprised to see you so openly promoting both Obama and Biden. Liberal.

2017 Republican Thread
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) SSK, NSS, and other investment guys, this is on topic with all the discussion about "suitability" and "fiduciary" standards with respect to retirement, as well as the financial system generally. Unless you work for the State in some capacity, companies that offer pensions are very difficult to find. Thus, more people need to rely on the market to save for retirement. Most IRAs are index funds in some capacity. Because of that societal reliance on the market for retirement, and the positive societal benefit to having people retire eventually, should the feds carry a greater burden in regulating investment behavior? Should investment professionals managing money specifically designated for retirement (ie, can't touch it without penalty until 59.5) be subject to stricter scrutiny? Curious to hear your thoughts. To some extent, I think this is the idea behind the fiduciary rule. The vast majority of people who have money in the market only have retirement money there, so a rule like this by its very nature is aimed at retirement funds. To a large extent I also think the rules that govern specific retirement tax havens (such as a 401K or IRA) have rules that reflect that nature. For example, you can't trade shorts in an IRA. They are designed and created to be lower risk, and by their nature, lower cost to the investors.

I am going to predict 69 wins, just because the eternal 13 year old boy inside of me thinks that number is pretty funny.

2017 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 02:29 PM) And because preventing the next collapse will cost people money in advance of the collapse, so the more fragmented the regulatory apparatus is, the more easily it is beaten to make money during that time. Eh. Then again, today you have to have staff and resources to satisfy requests from dozens of agencies, instead of just one.

2017 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (brett05 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Given your post about your voting style you are at best an INDY. So my liberal comment really wasn't wrong. You are the one showing public support for Joe Biden's plans.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) Sears is saying that the Sox are close to a deal with recently DFA'd Byung Ho Park even though he has to clear waivers first. Lets see if he gets lucky again. What is really funny about this is if you search White Sox and Park on twitter, this is the tweet that comes immediately before Sears. Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) Agreed. It has been a really long and boring offseason. It would have been even worse if the Sox didn't make those blockbusters at the Winter Meetings. It isn't just the White Sox either. This winter was just a bust for so many teams.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) Dude... QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Joe Flacco shouldn't be allowed near the hall of fame. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Joe Flacco is a Hall of Famer. Period. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) WTF is going on in here? Damn, the world we live in today is scary. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Damn, lot of Joe Flacco hate going on. I had to check my calendar and make sure it wasn't April 1. Apparently Joe Flacco too is a generational talent

2017 Watercooler TV thread
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Oh man, I loved that show. On my top 5 list. My wife and I would have watch parties with friends every Wed night. I couldn't get enough of the TV recaps, theorizing, water-cooler discussions, etc. with that show. Ending was a bit of a let down, but the ride to the end was fantastic. The first two or three seasons of LOST was some of the best TV in history. I mean it completely rewrote how a TV show worked in that there was no week to week ending. The season long mystery story arc, and on top of that the whole idea of the social media complement to the show just exploded it. Everyone needed that place to go talk about theories, ideas, and what had happened. No one had ever done that before.

Predict Thy Numbers: 2017 Chicago White Sox

2016-17 NHL Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) Lazerus just wrote article this week in the Sun-Times about how the difference with the 3 Cup champions was not the superstars, it was the depth on the 3rd and 4th lines. If they keep improving and you can play those guys freely, maybe they have a chance in April & May. One guy who has been a beast since his return is Schmaltz. You notice him on the ice a lot more than before he got sent down.

That was a really nice win to get. Despite officiating mistakes giving the Wild two goals, the Hawks were still able to gut it out.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 06:20 AM) Again, the Knicks have a generational talent that if he maxes out and stays healthy front offices will have to gameplan for. The Bulls have a guy, while REALLY good, is probably the 6th best player at his own position. LeBron, Durant, Kawhi, Giannis and George. I guess George and Butler is the most debatable. so at best 5th best. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
