2016-17 NHL Thread
#1 Crawford was a beast last night. STL could have had 4 or 5 goals in the third period alone. That skate save he made last night? OMG! #2 Please let Anisimov be OK. #3 The PK is still looking marvelous. It is looking more and more like the start of the season was just a blip on the radar. #4 And perhaps most importantly, SUCK IT SAINT LOUIS!

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) Less people voted for HRC than Obama because America is so racist. Even more telling is that more white people voted for Barack Hussein Obama, than did Hillary Rodham Clinton.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) I wouldn't call it "much" cheaper. Miggy isn't going to command a ton heading into a decline and still being owed 200 mil Also very true. He is going to have some really dead years at the end of that deal. His trade value has to be pretty close to zero because of that contract.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Astros are in the market for a 1b/dh type. I'd offer them Abreu for some of their prospects. They have 4 or 5 of the top 100. I don't see Abreu getting THAT big of a return.

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) The GOP and this thread lives despite earlier reports. Republican President, Republican House and Republican Senate. Wow. At the end of the day Hillary Clinton underperformed Barack Obama by 6 million votes, or about a 10% fall off. To me, that is the postmortem of this election on the Democrats side.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) Thoughts on what sox could get from Cubs for Q? I would go after Contreras, Soler and Happ A cubs deal has to start with either Contreras or Schwarber. Schwarber actually makes a lot of sense as he really is a DH in waiting.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) Jeremiah Tilmon Oh, ouch. That is the one recruit I have actually seen in person. That is a big one, that kid is a freak. Real good shot at the NBA IMO. EDIT: I didn't realize he went back to East STL either. Too bad, I would have loved to see him play in my HS's gym this year as we host LaLumiere where he played last year. They are currently ranked as the #1 HS team in the nation.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) So I'm going to SLU-Ball State this Friday and going to see SIU-SIUe next Friday. About to see me some high quality bball!!!! Do me a favor and let me know how Keenan Simmons looks from SIUe. He is from my hometown, and a great kid. He took over a starting role last year, and hopefully he gets some good minutes and touches this year.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) 55% voter turnout, pretty embarrassing as a country. Wonder how the other 45% would have voted. Only a quarter of the country actually voted for Trump More than third party votes, or votes for the wrong party, if all of the people who didn't vote at all in this election all came out and voted for one completely different person, that person would be President today.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) From today's Dave Cameron chat: Interesting, (1) hadn't thought about the QO factor for Frazier, and (2) that Red Sox deal sounds like one I'd gladly take for Sale. I had thought it even before recent news, but I do believe Frazier gets a long extension.

President-Elect Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) I don't think one could make an argument that Donald Trump has more consistent political principles than Hillary Clinton. As you noted not far back, he aligned himself with Democrats not long ago. Yeah up until Obama took office you could say that, but in the last 10 years? No way. He quite literally said whatever it took to get elected.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) However you want to look at it, Trump winning just gave Democrats a really easy way back into the White House in 2020 where they can elect a candidate much better than Hillary. Michelle's very well liked and well spoken, so she has that going for her. But going off the sentiment of anti-establishment rhetoric, Warren has a really good shot in 4 years. She's basically the younger female Bernie Sanders. From my point of view no matter who won this election, we were looking at a one term President. The negatives are just so high for both, and either one would face a firestorm of opposition from the other side.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Exactly. Trump had 1.1 million fewer votes than McCain in 2008 and 2 million fewer than Romney got in 2012. The problem is: Hillary Clinton got 7 million less votes than Obama got in 2012. It's not a Democrat problem. It was a Hillary Clinton problem. That is fascinating. I had no idea that both candidates had that kind of drop off. I am totally stealing these numbers.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) Warren, Michelle Obama. I don't think Biden will be too old. McCain ran when he was 80 and he'll be serving until he's 92. I can't see Michelle wanting the office. She just doesn't seem like she wants to expose herself to that.
