Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Oh really? Cubs wouldn't trade Bryant for Kershaw, Urias, and Seager? I think you're wrong. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) It's a dumb conversation anyway, the Cubs aren't looking to trade Bryant and I can't see the Sox and Cubs ever trading superstars across the city.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Are you an expert on this subject, Southsider? I doubt it. I am not, but there are plenty out there. If you aren't trolling and would like to learn something, this PBS special was a great primer. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/chasing-heroin/

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) Headline was something about chapman firing bullets Yeah, it is pretty insane that a guy threatens his wife's life, and now everyone else has to be careful not to offend him.

Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Is there any proof the Sox are even thinking about dealing Sale? I say no way JR is going to trade starting pitching. Yeah, because you demand more proof from a baseball team than you do a Presidential candidate.

Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) This is an intriguing, yet impossible thought for sure. I think everyone knows that Schwarber is a DH playing in the NL. If the Cubs were smart, they would deal Schwarber for a front line starting pitcher. If the Cubs want Sale, the White Sox will likely request Schwarber AND Baez. I just don't see the Cubs ever giving up on Baez. Although, if the Cubs do enter a bidding war with Boston, Texas etc-- a Baez/Schwarber package might be the most intriguing. This entire post is almost exactly what I was thinking.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
It seems the one thing the White Sox did right this year was to get their butts kicked by Cleveland early and often this year so that they could make the playoffs.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) And I'm sure you're about to tell us how bad it is to support candidates who receive lots of money from Wall Street, right? Not particularly, but if you were reading along, you'd know that the talk was about the hypocrisy of taking from one, while actively campaigning against the same.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 05:46 PM) I live in the NW suburbs. Heroin is really big out here. Within the last year, already know 3 kids a year older than me that have OD'd on Heroin. H is big everywhere because of cross over addiction from Oxycotin.

There are plenty of White Sox fans
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) I like, Sox Park aka GR Field. The park is in excellent condition and the appearance has been improved greatly over the years. Great video boards and sound system. Unimpeded sight lines. Bullpen bar, Stadium club, the multi-level bar and fan store at gate 5, 300 level, skyboxes, tailgating with ample parking right off the expressway. Convenient access for fans from the South/Southwest and West suburbs, and a small trip to or from downtown. Bridgeport has been gentrifying for several years and the South Loop has been moving South along Halsted, but most people do not head into the surrounding neighborhood after the games or need to because their cars are right there. Ricketts is doing a different thing trying to make a baseball themed amusement park centered around Wrigley and trying to keep all the fan revenue for himself. My guess is that Sox park will be there for another 20-30 years before any serious discussion about building the next one take place. Then it will probably be built across 35th Street on the original site. All the land/parking surrounding Spx Park, the convenience of the train and access right off the Ryan just about guarantee that the current site will never be abandoned. The lease runs through 2033, so any new stadium talk won't really even start until the end of the next decade.

Price rising for Sale and Q
An impossible thought from last night... Say the Cubs do get knocked out by the Indians. If the Cubs come to the White Sox with a player package starting around Kyle Schwarber, could a deal get done? What would it take to get a deal done?

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) Which is totally legal and I haven't seen Hillary talk about how motivational speakers are bad. I don't really care about the investments in a vacuum, but Stein's the pot calling the kettle black. She sure has spent a lot of the time on the rich, banks, and Wall Street. That hasn't stopped her from taking their money.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Looked closely at them since they demanded to be taken seriously. Then it becomes apparent they're woefully bad choices. Here's Jill Stein profiting off of Wall Street banks, oil and coal, tobacco, defense contractors and the pharmaceutical industry. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016...ys-another.html She could have just charged them all six figure speaking fees instead.

Your Offseason Wishlist
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Assuming Ramos doesn't take a 1-year pillow deal with the Nats, I'd like to try to sign him to one. If he is looking for a 4 or 5 year deal, it would be interesting to see how much of a break he is willing to give on the first year to get a long term deal.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) But again, the deadline for a team to offer arbitration is typically early December - last year it was December 2, prior to the winter meetings. If the rule stays the same, the White Sox could offer him arbitration, keep him in the organization, sign someone to help in the OF after the early december arb offer deadline, bring him through ST with the team, and then if no one gets hurt and he doesn't make the big league roster, cutting him would only cost $25k, assuming that clause remains in the CBA. I believe the cost is 20% of the offer.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) New information emerges, FBI reopens investigation of Clinton on her emails. Wonder if this makes people question their decision to vote for her or is everyone by this point solidly in one camp or the other. I honestly believe there is exactly nothing that can get decided voters to change their minds as of today.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) It's mealy-mouthed and non-committal to any sort of stance either way. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) Yeah, she used a lot of words but really didn't say anything at all. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) This could be fake, but if it's not ... wow. Hillary once said she likes Trump, just like Trump once said he liked Hillary. http://conservativestate.com/hillary-clint...st-cant-bought/ This is why no one takes you seriously. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Barring changes in the CBA to disallow it, I see no reason why he won't be on the Viciedo track - offer him arbitration but with only a small $25k charge if he is cut at the end of spring training so as to keep the contract non-guaranteed. If they go for it, and bring in a real OF to replace him, there is no space for him with actual back up OFs like Tilson and Liriano on the team.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) We don't know that Fulmer was a bad pick. Rodon over Schwarber was the right call at the time and still the right call now. You are b****ing just to b**** about that one. Hawkins was a bad pick. The Hawkins pick was pretty universally praised when it was made.
