QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) I think a lot of people are coming to the realization that the Brexit means less to us than it does to them...it's also not instant like a lot of people seem to think. It's going to take them over 2 years to exit the EU. And if anything, the UK was like a EU-lite member anyway...they didn't even use the Euro and were exempt from a ton of EU mandates as it was. Totally this. It really isn't a big deal for the US.
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 07:20 PM) There aren't a "lot of guys having underachieved". Frazier's average is way down, and Abreu is producing at a lower level than expected, but that's it. There are no surprises from the rest of the lineup, particularly those dumpster dive moves you called "surreal" in nature after they were all made in the offseason. Nothing underachieving about what we've seen from Jackson, Rollins, Avila, Navarro, or even Lawrie this season, not to mention that from holdovers Avi and Shuck. Their output is exactly in line with their performances of recent years. There was no basis coming into this season to expect anything different than what we've seen. You played the "oh, they just underachieved" card to defend and explain away the entire 2015 season. That dog is no longer hunting as we approach the midway point of the 2016 season. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) So the team slogan has gone from "All In" to "All If". Terrific! Nope, not bitter at all!
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) I don't think you get shot. I'll bet your house you make it to dawn alive.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) I was actually expecting a bigger knee jerk market reaction than what we got...this didn't even create a buying opportunity. I think this is typically being over hyped and overblown by the media, and despite US markets being down, they've gone up more than that in the past week, so it's like the needle barely moved. Dow is currently at 17,600 -- keep in mind that less than 6 months ago it was just over 15,000. In other words...meh. The markets moderated a lot since last night. At one point the Dow was down 700, now only about 400.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 07:21 AM) Our system prevents any one person from destroying us. Checks and balances and all. As long as "his party" stands up to his crazier ideas we'll be fine. This is one reason I like having Congress controlled by a different party than the White House. Something we always seem to do during mid term elections. We benefit when we employ the best of both party platforms. Or the electoral college, for example?
  6. I wonder how many times you see 3 times where teams fail to score with the bases loaded and nobody out in the same series?
  7. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Your best highest leverage relievers. Jennings to relieve Shields and Jones in for Beck with the bases loaded. You don't let bums like Albers and Beck lose you the game. The irony of course being that Jones gave up the tying run with an empty slate in the 8th.
  8. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) lol. That would be a miracle. If he goes more than 5, I'll eat my hat. Mmmm, hat.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) What's shields barking about? I think he was looking to ask about a check swing, but I am not sure.
  10. That looked like a neighborhood play at 2nd by Anderson.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) That just seems crazy when he is going 5IP with 100 pitches like he has been recently. Im not disagreeing with fangraphs but he just seems like he is overworking this year whereas last year he seemed like he was easily cruising into the 7th and 8th innings under 90 pitches Your pitch count doesn't get up when players are chasing two strike pitches out of the zone.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) I think that might be a cramp. Or I could be completely wrong The way the walked him off, that doesn't look good. Hopefully you are right though. Ouch.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) Kind of naturally happens that way when you don't choose to be a fan of whoever is one of the front running teams just because its convenient to watch a winner every year. I heard somebody say BURN BABY BURN!
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) If that were part of their decision making it would say a lot about how management values personal issues with people compared to winning. It would tell us what we have known forever. They are extremely risk averse.
  15. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) Personally, I'm leaving him in there to get it figured out. If you're going to lose, might as well try to get some innings out of him. This. You try and give him time to work his mechanics out. Taking him out doesn't allow him to do that in a game situation.
  16. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) No guarantee on when leaves the possibility that it may never happen. There is always that possibility. No one would ever promise anything different. Having that level of expectation is just silly.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) So Woj is reporting that the Hornets will trade #22 if someone takes Jeremy Lamb's contract 3/21. Is this something the Bulls should consider in order to get another 1st rounder? Do the Bulls have the cap room to take on almost $10 million?

  21. Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 3m3 minutes ago White Sox bullpen has thrown 9 scoreless innings in 3 wins at Fenway. White Sox outscored Red Sox 8-3 in 6th inning or later. Finale today.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) It's possible the Indians are just better than the Sox. If the Indians starting five stay healthy, and they get Brantley back at some productive level (or make a trade), they could be a 90+ win team, while the Sox are not. I'd love it if the Sox found a way to win 88 games still by Shields doing anything, the bullpen getting back into a groove, and trading for another bat. But they don't deserve any faith in doing that...just hope...big hope. If you are talking about potential, the Sox are sitting at .500, with a lot of guys having underachieved this year, and not many at all having overachieved. We haven't seen a hot Frazier or Abreu, or much of any offensive player who can be good. If Shields is even mediocre, this team improves a ton. If we are playing the "if" game, the Sox have as good of a case as anyone.
  23. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) Textbook definition of coach-speak by Cooper here. Shields is gonna be fine eventually, but there is no guarantee on when that will happen! There is a nice impossible standard to achieve.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Nobody ever answered the question of what GOALPOSTS the White Sox have set for their Latin American development program... Just saw a list of names. How is that helpful to know whether the money invested has been spent wisely or not so far? (Yes, I know, according to Dick Allen, we won't have the full picture until 2019-2022...even though Rick Hahn will likely be long gone by then.) At this stage the way you know the money is being productive is if kids are leaving the DR, and arriving into minor league ball in the United States. Take a look at the roster of the Arizona team.
