QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) Did you guys really think a politician of Hillary's caliber would be indicted? Sure you hoped but to honestly think it would come fruition? Politicians have always played by separate rules just like the nation's rich people. It is what it is. Sad, but true. There was a zero percent chance of indictment, even before Bill tracked down the AG.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Core Chris Sale - pre arb Jose Quintana - pre arb Addison Reed - pre arb Veterans worth their contract and worth something via trade Jake Peavy Alexei Ramirez Prospects in the top ~200 range Erik Johnson Courtney Hawkins Carlos Sanchez Dayan Viciedo was on quite a few All-Rookie team lists and was a productive player in 2012. I also guess that Trayce Thompson, Marcus Semien, Josh Phegley, Chris Bassitt, Micah Johnson, etc., weren't in the organization at the time. Hector Santiago has mysteriously disappeared as an asset to go along with Addison Reed. Tyler Flowers statistically is better than our current catching combo when defense is factored in, and for a cheaper price. Pitch framing/pitch calling strategies have slipped with Navarro, not to mention throwing out opposing baserunners. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- White Sox roster now Core Chris Sale - Hahn locked up on a team friendly deal Jose Quintana - Hahn locked up on a team friendly deal Jose Abreu underperforming his career WAR from 2014/15 by 125-150 points, should be DH, in ideal world Adam Eaton - Hahn locked up on a team friendly deal Carlos Rodon is there a single poster here who would have picked anyone else with the 3rd pick? and still not close to All-Star status, work in progress Tim Anderson would feel a lot better if Hahn had anything to do with targeting him Avisail Garcia Matt Davidson Nate Jones Veterans worth their contract and worth something in a trade Todd Frazier (I would hope he's STILL worth the equivalent of Thompson/Montas +) Brett Lawrie Melky Cabrera James Shields (SURE!!! Get on the phone right now and see if someone will assume that $27 million) Prospects in the top ~200 range Zack Collins Carson Fulmer Spencer Adams (has gone from near the Top 100 to closer to 150-200) Zack Burdi Alec Hansen at some point, results/ability is trumped by performance....in 2012, this was the equivalent of Chris Beck Trey Michalczewski (really?)

Do you believe the Sox will make the playoffs in 2016?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) Avi needs to be gone, a 650 OPS at DH is embarrassing, it would be pretty bad for a middle infielder even. Second point, that LaRoche money is free and HAS to be spent, at least for the remainder of this season. If they find the right fit for a player whose deal goes through 2017, great, because the offseason FA market is crap and will force more overpays. Finally, you're probably right about the Sox not wanting to give up top talent for a veteran RH reliever. They'll monitor Burdi, Danish, Jordan Stephens, Alec Hansen (that's a very low probability event) and Fulmer and hopefully one or two of those guys really click in the next month or so. Maybe, just maybe, Ynoa takes the next step but that's asking for a lot. Albers is almost at the end of his rope. His last 20 or so appearances have been terrible, and Ventura pulled him after just one batter today. His patience is now at zero to turn things around for Matty. Morneau is about a week away from taking Avi's job.

Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) Well, this has been kinda different recently, at least for the first round picks. Fulmer started all 9 games he appeared in after being drafted in 2015, Rodon had 9 appearances and 6 starts in 2014. They kept some of those guys on innings limits, but they were still starting. Sale of course went straight to the pen...because they were planning to call him up immediately to work from the pen (possibly as part of his signing agreement). Fulmer's 9 starts? A total of 23 IP, or basically 2.5 innings per outing. Rodon's 9 outings were for a total of 24.1 innings, or still short of 3 IP per outing. I'd classify both of those as not being "pushed". Now contrast that to Sale's 2010 which actually saw him throw 33.2 innings professionally after being drafted.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) What hypocrisy do you think you're seeing here? Where's the contradiction between "Clinton did a really dumb thing with this server, was sloppy, the security was a joke, but it wasn't criminal" and "Trump retweeted an antisemitic image and doubled down on it" The part where we are supposed to recognize a pattern of behavior from the Trump campaign, but minimize this to an isolated incident that wasn't really a big deal in Clinton's case where there is a long history of intentional deception there, just like with Trump.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) lmao you just can't help yourself. I'm being pretty openly critical of Clinton here, and I'm not a huge fan of hers. bmags called it "classic Clinton" with all that implies. We're talking about what rises to the level of criminal indictment in this case, and what the FBI said they found/didn't find. That has nothing to do with Trump retweeting unquestionably antisemitic memes. I can't help myself, that is true. The hypocrisy is so deep, it is hard to ignore.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Comey: Here's a ton of evidence about repeated violation of federal law at the highest level. Thus, we're recommending no criminal charges. Haha that presser was fun. There was absolutely zero political will to do anything about it. It was the least surprising thing about this entire Presidential campaign. It is why Bernie Sanders didn't make an issue of it.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Clinton exercised poor judgement in setting up the private server in the first place, but they've found no evidence of her intentionally and willfully breaking the law. The people shouting "the system is rigged!" don't actually have to show any proof of their claims, and it's a nice "heads I win, tails you lose" argument where either Clinton got indicted or she didn't and they get to say she absolutely should have and her not getting indicted it proof of corruption. It is a funny transition of posts here on the switch from the Trump anti-semitism stuff, to the Clinton stuff. Mere posts ago we were being told to watch the pattern, and not necessarily the specific deed. The pattern of this stuff from Team Clinton can't be ignored, just like it can't be ignored from Trump. But then again this election seems to have boiled down to which con-artist are you going to believe, so...

QUOTE (Coach @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:29 AM) Hawk has a lot information to give but my only complaint about him is he never shuts up. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:33 AM) http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...ept-dream-alive Where was Paddy's assessment??? Venezuela is supposed to be his first country of expertise. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/331117601.html The pickup of Guerra is interesting in that he'll be 31 years old by the time the Brewers open spring training, and he was out of affiliated baseball from 2009-'14. Neither would seem to mesh with a team in the midst of a rebuild. Guerra, a native Venezuelan, made a total of 31 appearances between Class AA Birmingham and Class AAA Charlotte in Chicago's system – including 11 starts. All told, he went 4-7 with a 3.13 ERA and a WHIP of 1.10 with 105 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings. From 2008-'14, Guerra played in the Venezuelan Winter League as well as a number of other foreign and unaffiliated leagues. He began his career in 2006 and spent that year in the system of the Atlanta Braves, then spent the 2008 season in the New York Mets' system before being suspended 50 games for PED use. The White Sox signed Guerra as a free agent last October, and he went 6-4 with a 3.46 ERA in 15 starts in the Venezuelan Winter League. You do realize that older players isn't what Paddy does for this organization, right? He is looking at the 14/15/16 year old crowd, not guys a decade older.
