Speaking of college seniors, a lot of them are going off the board in round 8.

Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) This is exactly why I'm not excited about Anderson being called up. Maybe he's physically talented and mentally tough enough to deal with being sent to the bigs early, and maybe he's not. I hope that he rakes with the Sox and dispels my concerns. The one trademark he has shown through his trip in the minors is extreme inconsistency.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) Have to say I'm a bit disappointed that with a comp pick used on a reliever we then have had to use so many other picks on college seniors for signing one third round level high school shortstop. I really like Collins, Hansen and Fisher, but this isn't the haul I was expecting. I'm very open to the fact that I have never heard of any of these players though, but considering the interviews of hostetler I'm surprised to see our strategy of basically slot for top three players then a bunch of college seniors to sign one high schooler. We haven't draft a senior yet, have we?

Bye Bye Burdi Bonus?

Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd
QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) He wasn't being paid as a #4 in San Diego, though. He was their Ace @ 66 IP, 32 ER giving up all the walks and jacks I already listed. In Chicago he is being paid to be an end of the rotation starter.

Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Really surprised at all of the concern about bringing up Anderson too early. Look, the kid is not 18 years old! He's been playing pro ball for a number of years now. Do we think if he goes 1-16 he's going to fall into a deep depression and never recover? There's tons of young prospects that have come up to the big leagues with much less experience than Anderson and succeeded! Age is a number. Not all guys are on the same developmental path at a certain age. Anderson is proably something like 1000 ABs, maybe more, behind kids his age. He didn't play baseball his first two years of HS. He hardly played in college either. His entire college career was barely more than just Gordon Beckham's last year of college in terms of total ABs. That isn't even counting lost time in the off season that baseball only guys got.

Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd
QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) Shapiro's job? I think that's a pipe dream. Any team seeking a person to fill that position should have a much better track record of drafting, farm management, and international shenanigans. Toronto sure wanted him. The way baseball operates, I am sure they are far from the only ones.

QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) If there is to be any accountability for the 3 year plan failing (and I'm not saying there will); I will guarantee you Hahn will go down before Kenny. I could see the Sox letting Kenny leave for his promotion that he wanted so bad before I see Hahn leaving.

Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) His huge weakness is he cannot recognize pitches, at all. I dont think he ever develops that. His eye has gotten better this year, but the bat still has to come around, because that is literally the only thing that will keep him in the majors.

Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) One thing I do agree with Caulfield on is Avi Garcia is on the clock. I think he's next. If he isn't hitting, he's totally worthless. So a rotating DH makes sense before Morneau or another bat arrives. Avi has been on the clock for six months now. They had replaced him, but then LaRoche quit. There is no doubt in my mind the Sox are shopping hard for his replacement and have been for a while now.

Robin Ventura should be fired today
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) I don't think that Hahn has the power to fire RV. JR would likely have to sign off on that one. I'm not sure that the comment is anything other than posturing. Fans want accountability right now, so the Sox have to feed that perception with regard to the manager. I would bet on that one.
