  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) This is how I see Chicago sports relevance/success over the next 2 years: 1. Blackhawks 2. Cubs 2. Sox 4. Bulls 5. Bears Cubs and Sox tied at 2. It all depends on what bats that KW can acquire. Unless the Cubs completely fall apart, they aren't going to be tied with the Sox for relevance. I can't see that happening under new ownership.
  2. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) I think this season so far has shown how weak the Bulls bench has become after the loss of Gordon in terms of not having an impact scorer that you need off there. Pargo hasn't come anywhere close to replacing him, while Hinrich just doesn't really fit the mould of a 6th man. Of course they didn't have Kirk or Tyrus tonight and they only lost to a Bucks team that got Bogut back tonight and has been playing well under Skiles (although we'll see if that lasts the season), but the positive for the Bulls is that they're 6-9 and still around 8th spot in the East, teams like Toronto, Washington and Philly have had terrible starts so far. Pargo is sooo sporadic. If he has a game, he can be huge, but he can't take it on himself to do it. I really can't wait to see if the Bulls can score during THE free agent class, or to see if someone is willing to trade their superstar in the season before in order to get something for them. It is the Bulls really big shot at having a chance at another title. If they strike out like they did during the Tracy McGrady free agency year, the Bulls are really going to fall down the ladder in Chicago relevance.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) I'm a sucker for 70s/80s pop rock bands. I had Heart, BOC, Journey, Kiss and Def Leppard plus They Might Be Giants (!) Just missed on Pat Benatar and Van Halen. I have very little music newer than 1992. I love They Might Be Giants, but then again I have a weakness for groups that don't take themselves too seriously. That explains my liking of groups like TMBG, and people like Weird Al, Wally Pleasant and Rich Hardesty.
  4. Pictures you say? http://www.wftv.com/slideshow/news/2174612...;dm=ss&tn=b
  5. Another game where a Ben Gordon is missed.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) I'm 24 and they are one of my top 5 bands and I think I had them #1 for this although I just as easily could have had the Arcade Fire or a number of other bands #1. But my parents also played the Beatles a ton when I was a kid and I basically grew up listening to them and have actually appreciated their music more as I have gotten older. That's exactly how I did it. I grew up hearing them as much as I heard anything on the radio or MTV (you know back when they actually were "M"TV)
  7. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Fully agreed. It's behind Freak Out!, Sgt. Peppers and We're Only in it for the Money, but Quadrophenia and Tommy are probably 4 and 5 respectively. Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road both make it as complete albums that you never have the urge to skip a song on. Past those three, I would have to stop and think for a while to decide how to narrow it down.
  8. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) I feel dirty saying it, but ABBA is one of my guilty pleasures. I saw Mamma Mia on Broadway awhile ago for my mom's birthday and really enjoyed it, despite expecting to hate it. You should feel dirty and ashamed. Now leave you man-card at the front door.
  9. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Awesome. Looks like the Who will be #2 unless they pull off a major upset. They're well deserving of a top 2 spot, great to see them get some recognition. Tommy and Quadrophenia are two of my all-time favorite albums Tommy is one of my top five albums ever.
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) Chip Carey out as TBS lead broadcaster.
  11. QUOTE (CSF @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Little tidbit from Jon Heyman's SI article abaout offseason moves: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ....shakers/1.html As I said before, the best Joe can hope for is a minor league invite, and the minimumish salary. I wouldn't be opposed to that, but I would for sure go into camp with someone else as the starter.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) Today is "poke Keith with a stick day" at work. Everybody knows that I'm pissed off about the Bears on Mondays even though I didn't watch the game since I knew they were going to lose by at least 3 TDs going in but they all stop by my desk and ask "so how bout those Bears" or "what's up with your boy Cutler" or something to that effect. They are clearly trying to get a rise out of me but I just don't feel up to giving them the "show". Aren't these guys who are Washington Redskins fans mostly? They have got zero room to talk s*** about anyone.
  13. Funny thing is that you have to read back through this thread to remember that far back.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Well, the point I was making is that Cust's numbers were most likely a bit deflated because of the park he plays half his games in... Thome's numbers were deflated by playing a month as a pinch hitter in a terrible hitters park.
  15. Duped again old man.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) Keep in mind guys, he played 81 games in the Coliseum.... And Thome played a month in LA, and pretty never never played.
  17. By and large that is very true.
  18. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) If we signed him, chances are we throw him at DH. Not my first option but I would much prefer him at DH than Kotsay and Thome. A move to the cell would be a good thing for him, not a fan of his strikeout numbers though. Thome's numbers last year were clearly better than Cust's.
  19. I'd rather bring back Thome.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) While it's nice that Tiger Woods is very athletic - he doesn't *need* to be for golf. It means he is more of an athlete than pretty much everyone who isn't getting paid to be an athlete, yet still thinks they are on this message board.
  21. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 08:57 AM) I don't think there's really a pure dividing line between "sport" and "game". People tend to push the activities which require more athleticism and physical exertion into the sport category, and golf rates pretty damn low in those areas. Tiger Woods laughs in your face. http://munfitnessblog.com/how-to-swing-lik...inally-exposed/
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 29, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) New Muppet video! Just awesome.
  23. Zero chance of it actually working...
  24. XXX is today's date in Rome.
