  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) fixed it for ya. And each pitch mattered last night as much as the 2008 game. And the HOFers is a stretch. There were at least two HOFers in that game with Thome and Griffey. Guys like Mauer, Nathan, and Morneau could be very well in that class in another 10 years.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Apparently no one in our country is qualified to make a film criticizing capitalism since we are a capitalistic country. And I guess that also means a meat eater cannot make a documentary about factory farming, someone who doesn't own a car cannot make a film about cars, etc. And yet you seem to revel in the religious right being taken down for not being able to keep it in their pants. OK, I guess you won't be doing that from now on, right?
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) He lives in a capitalist society and made a film bashing the principle. Wouldn't that mean he is advocating getting rid of capitalism? And yet he got rich by utilizing those same capitalistic principles. Yeah, there isn't any hypocrisy there.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) Nice of David Wells to get dressed up for his studio work. To be fair, he probably just came from out drinking with Miguel Cabrera.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) As you can see from the video Balata posted he has admitted in many cases to help the people in his spotlighted films. Ultimately he's a film director shining light on issues he feels need exposure. Not sure why you would think that he should automatically work for free or donate his income. Shedding light on the topics in his films will be more of an impact than 1 man donating to charity anyway, which he is doing as well. He's also pretty well fabricated and stretched the truth in most of his movies. I think you could call him Glenn Beck if it made you feel better, because they are pretty much cut from the same cloth. They have no problem making things up to suit their truth in the pursuit of the "truth". It doesn't surprise me that he could demonize people for doing something, and then turn around and do the same thing himself. It also doesn't surprise me that people who line up to defend that.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 06:06 PM) How is that different then a reporter doing a piece on corporate fraud? Should that reporter donate their salary to those who were defrauded? Yeah, that is totally the same.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) What does that have to do with anything? The guy is doing a movie about the evils of capitalism, and trying to get rich off of it. You don't see the irony there?
  8. I'd be curious how much of the proceeds of this movie that Moore is donating to help people?
  9. Hey, I am just doing my job.
  10. For anyone else considering Backstreet Boys lyrics, please note that a banning might be possible.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) You just described Milton Bradley. Well that does leave out the self-centered, asshole, racist attitude.
  12. Don't worry Jim, it is just another sign of aging.
  13. Out again, huh?
  14. I can't believe you drug Yoda into this.
  15. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Unless I missed it, it looks like we're kind of closed to the possibility that Nick Johnson will cost the same yearly as Figgins. If Milton Bradley with his malcontent-history got 3/30, it's not crazy to think Nick Johnson could do the same...even with his injury history. 450 ABs this year while being a fielder. '08, extensive missed time, but then the two years before were a combined 950 ABs. Plus consider the sellers market in free agency this year. Actually I'll bet with the economy the way that it is, we could really see another year of depressed prices on the free agent front. The first guys to sign will probably get money again, but after that, it is going to look a lot like the end of last year, I bet.
  16. Gordon is not happy.
  17. Doubtful at best.
  18. But what else would you expect?
  19. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) No MLB team opens their book up to the public. Some are very good at crying "poor". I'm just stating that they might have to spend some more money if they want to better the team. Reinsdorf likes to threaten fans by saying "show up and we'll spend money". I doubt you would find anywhere in the marketing world, "buy our product and we promise to make it better". So you don't trust the likes of Forbes who breaks down each of the teams annually?
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) I don't think they had guaranteed contracts. I wonder if that were gone how much baseball would change. They had guaranteed contracts, but no one gave out multi year deals, there was not really a need before free agency.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Fixed it for ya. You act on as if you are really "in the know". They don't give out that information and what is out there can be questioned as accurate. So what is your source that knows what is so accurate as to be able to tell others what isn't accurate?
  22. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) You have twenty thousand left handed Speaking of one handed posts
  23. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) I'm sure he left a decent amount of money on the table. He was wanting to get paid a little more than what Heyward-Bey got. Eugene Parker(his agent) and that whole clown crew didn't help the whole process. They seemed to be waiting and hoping the 49ers lost so that Crabtree would have more leverage, but after a 3-1 start, they gave up and signed. having guys like Deion and Michael Irvin as "advisers" certainly didn't help, surprise surprise. Well he left at least a quarter of a years salary on the table for starters...
