  1. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Totally. A black fly in my chardonnay isn't ironic, it just sucks. Jagged Little Pill was actually a guilty pleasure of mine. I still think it's a great album and you are now allowed to openly mock me. When JLP came out I was the program director at my college radio station. We got that CD about three months before You Outta Know hit the airways, and I fell in love with the CD. About the time I got bored with it, mass radio picked it up and killed it for me. The other one I still like to this day is the Presidents of the USA's first big album with Lump and Peaches on it. I still break that out from time to time.

  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) Well, when I say young relief stud arms, I didn't mean young arms that project to be starters. You managed to use a few fairly extreme examples there. But perhaps "stud arms" is a bit too much. Perhaps "young relief arms with great stuff" would be better. Are you telling me that there are not teams out there that would trade two young relief arms for Crawford? I disagree... Two relief arms, or a proven closer. There is a big difference there when you are team trying to get back to the World Series.

  7. Not a bad idea.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) If the Rays want to move Crawford because they aren't interested in paying him $10 million this year, I have a hard time believing they want to do so in order to acquire a high-priced closer coming off a poor year. My guess is that if the Rays do move Crawford, they would be hoping to get back young arms and a catching prospect. The can use a closer more than they could use another OFer. It might not be the best that they can get for Crawford, but it might be the move that improves them the most for next year.
  9. There is nothing better than following the birthday feed at the bottom of the main page and laughing about the user names that have become completely outdated and irrelevant. Gioin08, I am looking at you.

  11. Good to see that people are realizing the first step to recover is admitting you have a problem.
  12. X words skipped again? That is the worst part of this thread.
  13. I love those last three on that list. I can't wait to see if we get a star or two out of that grouping.
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) A team that has 4 quality starters, why does everyone want to mess with that? I have no idea. Teams can deal with bad hitting when they have good pitching. It is much harder to deal with holes in your starting pitching with good hitting. We have seen that on and off for pretty much the entire 21st century with the Sox. When our pitching is good, we win. It is that simple.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Someone told me Akim Aliu could play tonite, is there truth to this...and can someone make a bunch of animations of tonites game and send them to me...i def. cannot find any hockey feeds down here. I don't even remember him getting much PT in camp. I for sure don't remember seeing him at the open practice. He has to be behind a bunch of people at this point.
  16. I don't know that I am willing to trade Floyd for a position player, except for ones that aren't going to be available anyway.
  17. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 06:15 AM) Hey, Sliders launched Jerry O'Connell's career. Oh wait... Sliders have launched lots for lots of people...
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) I guess I'm just struggling to comprehend the issue here. No one in a capitalist society is allowed to create a film criticizing capitalist society because they live in one? Is he supposed to create his own nation that doesn't employ capitalism, perhaps on an island, in order to create a film criticizing the concept? If he is going to slam his society, he probably shouldn't get rich doing the very thing he is saying is so wrong. Why is that so complex? We ask that of people all of the time. People who hold up their high moral standards and family, probably shouldn't be having affairs. People who fight for the environment most likely shouldn't be the biggest user of electricity in their state. People who preach on the ills of drug usage, most likely shouldn't have a meth lab at their house.

  20. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) So if he keeps some of his profit in a socially responsible sort of way, does that make it ok? Would any of his detractors really suddenly accept his film if he donated 110% of his profits? Any business reporter who reports corporate fraud could only work as a volunteer. I didn't say it before, but that is a terrible example. A reporter who reports fraud, probably shouldn't break laws. That would be more apt.
  21. For reference's sake, my dad used to let me sip his beers when I was that age. It explains a lot.
  22. Cardinals are the total upset special. They have been on cruise control since August. If the Twins weren't so beat up and tired, the Yankees would be it. Remember 5 out of the last 10 years the team with the biggest divisional lead at the end of the year, lost their opening round. Out of the 5 that did win, only one made it to the WS, and they lost.
  23. xanthophyll is filling my trees as we speak.
  24. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) fixed it for ya. And each pitch mattered last night as much as the 2008 game. And the HOFers is a stretch. There were at least two HOFers in that game with Thome and Griffey. Guys like Mauer, Nathan, and Morneau could be very well in that class in another 10 years.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Apparently no one in our country is qualified to make a film criticizing capitalism since we are a capitalistic country. And I guess that also means a meat eater cannot make a documentary about factory farming, someone who doesn't own a car cannot make a film about cars, etc. And yet you seem to revel in the religious right being taken down for not being able to keep it in their pants. OK, I guess you won't be doing that from now on, right?
