Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox, 7:11, CSN
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) Things that you can probably pin on walker: 1. These terrifically bad games against guys we haven't seen before. 2. Fields's lack of development. His swing needed improvement and it just never showed. 3. Rios. The guy needs some major mechanical work right now. That's a hitting coach's job. 4. JD. I still don't know what's wrong with him, I think it has to be injury related, but if it's not, then the hitting coach needs to kick his ass. 5. Some of the really long slumps our guys got in to. Ramirez to start the season, Getz in June. Those really hampered us too. Josh Fields had problems long before he got to Chicago. I know I felt the strikeout numbers would kill him at the major league level.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) Seriously? What the f*** is this? US Should Shoot Down Isreal Air Force Over Iraq If They Attack Iran's Nuclear Facilities Posturing. Nothing else. I don't care that Obama is in the white house, it will never happen.

Top-5 prospects Kenny will trade this offseason
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) With Kenny, I'd expect anything. Seriously, it wouldn't shock me at all if any of these players are here next year: Halladay Haren Fielder Crawford Bay Holliday Figgins (most likely) Cross the top three off of your list right away. We aren't trading for expensive starting pitchers, nor are we trading for middle of the line up plodders. Crawford and Figgins are the only guys on that list that make sense.

Top-5 prospects Kenny will trade this offseason
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) Phil Rogers jumped out of the bushes a few weeks ago to call Gartrell possibly the biggest sleeper since Maggs. I'm a little surprised that Gartrell hasn't been added to the AFL roster because organizational hype through Phil Rogers + AFL appearance would pretty much spell Kenny flashing his cards. Who was the last guy Rodgers was right about?

Financial News
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) continuing collapse of the housing market? where are you seeing any indication of that? You are right of course about the job losses, and the fact that the commercial real estate market still has a lot of risk... but the housing market continuing to collapse? I have seen nothing of that sort. I think the "collapse" went on for quite a while, and it seems an abundance of evidence says that we're flattening and even improving in some areas now. We haven't seen the real unemployment wave go through yet. As long as things are this bad in the employment sector, the housing sector can't recover.

Zambrano: Sox One of Three Teams He Would Go To
QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) It's not your money or my money, so who cares? You know as well as Kalapse that it would mean less money to spend on things we need way worse.

enGAGEd. Congrats- What Would Bobby Jenks bring back via trade?
QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) This is a baseball organization, not an investment firm. Trading assets at the point of highest value comes in a distant second to putting a winning team on the field. Great post.- Zambrano: Sox One of Three Teams He Would Go To
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) you guys should have heard Coop a few days ago when Rongey asked him about this. Coop said "There is no chance that asshole comes and plays here. You got that? That asshole isnt playing here" Not completely verbatim, but VERY close. And he called him an asshole about 4-7 times in a small period of time Glad to hear it. Besides the points about the money we already have in our rotation should put this to bed quickly.- What Would Bobby Jenks bring back via trade?
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) exactly why I do not want Thornton as our closer, much more valuable as a 7th-8th inning guy multiple times per weak than a closer who will go once over a 10 day span sometimes. Unless we do something big over the winter, I get the feeling that Tony Pena gets a shot at closing.- Sox consider shutting down Floyd and Buehrle
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:35 AM) I've watched KW do his thing for too long to put 95% certainty on any open position at the end of the season. Its a long offseason. Also, if its Freddy, we won't know until well into ST which version of Freddy we would get. Unless there is something we don't know about. He is only going to get better. Odds are he should recover another mile or two at least worth of velocity, as is the usual progression after the surgery he had. I doubt he ever gets back to 95-96, but if he gets back to 92-93, his off speed stuff is enough to carry him to a very solid season.- Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox, 7:11, CSN
Well here is a nice chance to see what this kid is made of.- Peavy claims to be ready
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) Really, that's what you see in him? An irrational desire to win? I haven't gotten that impression at all. Thank you. Irrational is a good word to describe Z though...- Debate: Swap Linebrink for Bradley?
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) Rangers did, but i recognize your point. I do like Bradley, but i'm playing a bit of the devil's advocate here. They offered him a one year deal, for less money, when the Cubs were offering him three years, and a higher annual salary. That is pretty much like saying the Sox tried to bring back Robin Ventura.- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) I was flipping back and forth between football and Emmys last night. Isn't this "30 Rock" stuff kind of overrated? I mean would you put it in the same category of other great shows in the past? I've only seen a few episodes and it hasn't exactly blown me away. I'm with you FWIW. I don't find it very funny, especially Tracy Morgan. He is terrible.- Debate: Swap Linebrink for Bradley?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) Ozzie deflects attention away from players who put in the work and don't complain. Bradley is not that guy. Ozzie would hang him in the press, eventually. He doesn't do prima donna players - see Orlando Cabrera, who Ozzie defended at first, but then stopped defending when Orlando caused problems in his clubhouse (not getting into whether that was right or wrong - just that it simply is). Yep. The first time he got into Ozzie's face, it would be on. They wouldn't make it through spring training.- Debate: Swap Linebrink for Bradley?
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) Sounds like AJ before he came to the Sox, doesn't it? The best year Bradley ever had was with a laid-back manager (Wash) in a really relaxed clubhouse. Sweet Lou felt the need to try to intimidate Bradley, Bradley hates that. If you talk to the guy on his level, he'll produce and behave. Not really. AJ was in one bad situation. Bradley has been on seven teams in nine years, none of which wanted him back.- Debate: Swap Linebrink for Bradley?
Linebrink has a chance of bringing something to the Sox next year. Any positive that Bradley could bring would be lost by him doing something stupid.- Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Beckham's nuts then Cutler's face. D-Rose needs to watch his ass. Are you predicting a prison stint?- 2016 Olympics
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 07:21 PM) He's going to suspend the health care debate to go there? And by suspend the health care debate...we mean "Piss off Dave Letterman"? He is on Letterman on Monday. Perhaps that's part of the plan... Yeah pretty much. Its just funny that with all of the technology in the world, and all of the staff that he has, that he acts like he would miss anything.- Sox consider shutting down Floyd and Buehrle
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:38 AM) Sort of odd to say this, since we don't know who that 5th guy is yet. Maybe you want to know that before deciding on such a thing? Barring injury, I would say with about 95% certainty that it is going to be Garcia.- Peavy claims to be ready
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Well, except Ozzie loves him. Sounds like he really likes Peavy as well...- Dan Hudson to Start VS Twins
Carrasco also pitched two days ago, so he was out anyway. I wonder how far into the game they let Hudson go?- What Would Bobby Jenks bring back via trade?
QUOTE (beck72 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) Exactly. Thornton seems to have Ozzie's confidence and would make sense to replace Jenks. What I was saying was signing a free agent or making a trade for set up, not for closer. I would think that would be why Ozzie wouldn't use him as a closer. He likes being able to bring him in at anytime, instead of just the ninth inning with a lead. - The Sultan Pimp of Soxtalk Is Now Retired
