The Official Put the Voodoo Devil Curse on the Tigers Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) You think the Twins will overtake Detroit? Will the Sox win all six vs. Detroit? Stay tuned. Gee look who shows up after a loss...

CREW most corrupt list
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) So that's kind of interesting - the 8/7 ratio is very close the same ratio of the entire house. Corruption knows no party. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) I don't think even the hard cores in each party would have disputed that. Not a chance... This is when Kap's "They all do it" line comes into play.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tony Pena gets a shot at being our closer next year. I think Ozzie likes using Thornton all over the place too much for him to be it.

The Onion is Awesome
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) How does it lower the bar? The guy is 37th all time hit leader and has the most RBI's of any player not inducted into the HoF but is eligible. Its a great example of why statistics aren't the best judge of a Hall of Famer.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) Well, supposedly KW tried to acquire him before the deadline, so it seems they could have got something for him. I am guessing they want Toronto to pick up some money if we sent a player(s) up there. Either that or we were getting more players than just Rios included.

I [heart] Beckham. His defense has improved a lot in just the last month to six weeks. Hopefully that is a good sign.

Rally Rios?
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) To be fair, I do that too. I did that in the Brandon Allen thread just recently and believe me, I'm watching, and the first time Allen goes on a roll I'm going to bump that thread and stir s*** up again. I'm sure you'll hear about it too.

CREW most corrupt list
California managed to get 4 of the 15 slots, Illinois got 2 (Burris and Jesse Jr.), and Indiana even managed to get 1 (Visclosky). 8 Dems and 7 Repubs. http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/42385

"More bunting"
Honestly, unless we manage to figure out how to get a runner in from third with less than two outs, it doesn't matter how the hell they got there.

Healthcare reform
Here we go... http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/ho...amp;newsLang=en The important part? Also that 87% would reduce coverage if costs increased because of this plan.

Fall of '09 television thread
QUOTE (The Bones @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) I don't watch too much TV outside of sports and poker. I'll watch The Office because I've watched it since the beginning, even though it has gone downhill the past 2 years. Other than that, the only shows I'll be watching are Dollhouse and Community, which looks like it could be pretty funny. I have to wait until next year for Lost. I don't particularly care for Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime shows, reality shows, or hospital dramas so that cancels out about 95% of tv for me. And I'm still pissed that Pushing Daisies got canceled. Oh...and I'll find a way to watch the new season of Curb even though I don't get HBO. Word

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) I'm not the only non believer, just the one who gets criticized. You are the only one who stalks all of the threads that don't agree with you, and repeats the same thing ad naseum.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) First, off, I do not believe the final plan will result in that big of a cut. But even if something that drastic occurred, will they quit and take an even bigger pay cut? What will any of those Doctors do to maintain their wages and life style? And depending on when this happens, where in this economy will they go? Financial services? Sales? Medical research? Possibly. I just do not see where their options are to quit and maintain anywhere near their salaries. And perhaps we should look at their salaries like we looked at the auto industry. Their wages are too high, benefit packages too generous, for their industry to survive, and like those well paid auto workers, the end is here. Call me silly, but I think we need auto workers less than we need doctors. I worry a little bit more about artificial caps on doctors than I do artificial floors for union workers.

We now control our own destiny
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) You guys following the Tiger games crack me up. When are you gonna believe we're toast? We're 5-6 in our last 11. We STILL have done nothing to pick up any ground. Last night's game was horrible. Stop it. Seriously. All this does is bring the quality of things around here down while everyone wastes their time talking to a brick wall. We get it, you know the Sox can't win. Now quit it.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) Edwin Jackson getting beat much worse than Floyd last night. 5-0 Royals top 3 with Zach looking good. Olivo with a 3-run shot. Tigers must have the same advance scouts as the Sox. Do you mean Royals lead?

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) After a decade of school, $$$,$$$.$$ in medical school costs, I'm going to quit if anything changes. Sorry, but I am just not believing we will see double digit, or even large single digit defections. Perhaps a rise in early retirements, but I just do not see Doctors suddenly quitting to become MonaVie independent sales consultants. So if you were told that you were going to be looking at a 30% cut in your wages, plus a huge increase in your workload, you would just go along with it?

High school football
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) Yea, there's some pretty good high school football teams in Texas. Dare I say that a lot of "state ranked" teams in other states would be lucky to finish .500 here. That's just a guess, though. No joke. Its like difference between the basketball teams going the other way.
