  1. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) Fine. let's just have the China model where we all make the same, and are told by the government what jobs we all can have. I'm ready for it now... since I got fired, I've seen the ways of communism. I WANT COMMUNISM! Give me my house, job, doctor, what I can do and when! RIGHT NOW! I'm tired of the free market. It screwed me! DAMN IT, why do I not get a bailout? In all reality, I wish that the media would do this type of detailed investigation of the day to day operations of any governmental agency, the way they have the banks and auto companies. Working in the south loop, I have gotten to know many people who work in various agencies in the federal government. I know everyone thinks that these private companies are run badly, but believe me when I say there is no way that the government would be doing any better, regulations, intervention, nationalization or whatever. They are run even worse, with less oversight, and with more waste. The funny thing is that it was government intervention that caused a large part of this crisis, but still no one outside of a few bloggers is talking about that fact.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) Bullard I have never heard of you but I wanna wish you a happy f***ing birhtday. Bull is a former White Sox minor leaguer who posted here for a while. One of the nicest guys you will ever run across.
  3. A little more clearly, No longer any connection between the two...
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Rezko's lawyer owns Obama's Chicago home? http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=...mp;pageId=84101 So much for no connection between the two...
  5. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 01:05 PM) Adam Dunn would look good How far along is Allen in the minors??? would he be a possibility??? Brandon Allen spent about half of a season at AA Birmingham. While his K's and BB's numbers have improved, I don't believe he is ready for the bigs yet. He might approach 250 K's in a full season up here.
  6. Wow. That must mean your team REALLY sucks Mikko, because you just got soundly walloped in every single facet of the game.
  7. So besides Owens, who is left as a potential leadoff hitting Centerfield target for the White Sox?
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) Question is... at what level is it government's job to make sure we can't make a mistake by banning things, rather than taking steps to give people a chance to do what they want to do? (perhaps while also providing ways to fix things if people do make mistakes) Such as polluting and freedom with their money? Nope, sorry, the government makes morality judgements all of the time that take away from what peopel really want to do.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) well there was no right person to be elected in this election. I'm just standing up for Minnesota's election officials, who are doing a reasonably good job. Because the Democrat is winning...
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) http://www.minnpost.com/davidbrauer/2008/1...car_story_false So where did the 100 votes just show up from, and why have they never been subtracted?
  11. With the infamous Glove flip to Pauly with the barehand play. It was the highest rated highlight for any baseball play. Top SC highlight of the year was Michael Phelps with the come from behind win by 0.01 in the Olympics. #2 was Eli Manning to Snee in the Super Bowl.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 11:38 AM) Yeah, I was really not happy with the way he handled that scandal, if you can even call it a scandal if they didn't do anything wrong. They did nothing wrong, I just don't like the fact we were lied to at every step of the way by the Obama camp.
  13. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) This guy did not invent some new insult. The intent, as is the long standing custom there, was to insult and not to actually hit him. Just like flipping him off is not to actually hit anyone with your finger. This seems to be the point that many people are overlooking. This was a traditional gesture. The man had many other objects available to throw at Bush if the intent was to assault him. He did throw a cell phone, clipboard, lap top, chair, he threw a shoe, because that is the custom. Basically you guys would be saying that flipping someone off should result in jailtime. But yes, if Bush was actually hit and died, or any other silly what if you want to come up with, it would be different. Just as if someone was flipping someone off and accidentally killed them or caused them to need stitches. But instead, just like when you flip someone off, no one is hurt, this guy managed the traditional and long standing custom perfectly, and no one was hurt. So we should just ignore the laws as they are in Iraq because it isn't a big deal here?
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) Do you know why recounts automatically happen when it's this close? Because the #'s are usually off in the rush to report during the day. Recounts take a long time, and if our barometers are Florida or, I think Wash. State congressional recount, then Minnesota is a hell of a lot closer to Washington's then Florida's. Recounts are goign to suck for one side or the other, but these accusations of partisanship in the election board of minnesota is just projecting your political cynicism to every political event. Do you think Coleman was unpopular up there? My friends from Minnesota thought there was no way in Hell it was even close. It isn't as if there is no strong republican party in Minnesota either. You know those sample ballots balta provided us with? Nearly all were rejected as valid. Most people thought more of those ballots should go to Franken. Do you really think it is normal for partisian electoral officals to find 100 ballots in their car, all belonging to the same candidate, whom he happens to support? If you don't think things like that aren't going to make people cynical at what is going on there, you obviously are looking at this through partisian glasses.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 07:26 AM) How many liberal blogs do you read? I'm not trying to snipe, honest question. You'd be surprised. I do like to read what people are talking about.

  19. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:54 PM) That's pretty awesome. While Tallon has made some mistakes, I can't give him crap for drafting Toews or Kane. Sharp is excellent as well. Not to mention the Kris Versteeg trade...
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 11:52 PM) If you only read this thread you'd think the Minnesota recount was disastrously handled. And if you read only the liberal blogs you'd think the Minnesota recount was handled fabulously.
  21. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) Well, I'm exaggerating it a tad bit but I still hear stuff like this a couple times a week. Bigger things like school shootings don't happen that often, but I'm always hearing about somebody shooting up the McDonald's in Seattle or like the Dallas Highway shooting. Hearing about it, is the key phrase. Stuff like this has happened forever, there just weren't 24 hour news networks to hang on every detail about.
  22. Well they weren't quite able to take down SOX, but they are looking to take the teeth out of it... http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...&refer=home

  24. QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) The expression comes from the image of people sitting around a hot wood or coal burning stove in the old days, talking about baseball as they long for spring. No fair, you probably actually did sit around a hot stove
