  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) If any teams think Joe Crede is on the "downside" look for a one yer contract with incentives and maybe mutual agreed on extensions and Joe will prove he can still play. With Borass as his agent, he will get a one year deal, no options. He wants to be able to get his guys into free agency as many times as possible.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) Pavlov's Uribe?
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) are you holding the camera or are you next to that guy? Holding the camera. You can see the lens and the SOX logo on my jacket... that's it.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) Hey, I like the renewable energy tax cuts being renewed, you should like the AMT reform...everyone's happy right? Now shut up and let us give these banks your money. Just like the entire bill, its all about treating symptoms and not problems. This bill sucks from A to Z.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) Since we're all making policy decisions based on the dow now, I conclude that the large drop this morning suggests that they don't want a bailout now that the Senate has passed it, and we should all just drop that silly idea. But now that we have tacked on another $150 billion in spending its OK, right?
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 06:41 AM) I'm still wondering why the Twins sent Cuddyer, it was a stupid move. Any CF not named Jerry Owens could have thrown out Cuddyer in that situation. In that situation you send him only if it takes a perfect throw, and Griffey's throw was far from perfect. I don't buy that for a second. At that point in the game no one has come close to scoring, you try to make something happen. A million different good things can happen from the Twins view, and only one bad one. The Sox just executed the play well and it didn't work out for MN. Its the exact same way the Twins have played all year long, and put up big innings doing it. Getting conservative at that point just wasn't going to happen, and nor should it have.
  7. Crede would be a classic Twins free agent signing. A guy on a downside for some reason, and on the cheap. Cabrera I just don't see happening.
  8. QUOTE (Scwible @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:44 AM) In this picture, I am the guy on the far left where you can see half of a camera sticking out.
  9. Do you see yourself as being a potential super-utility guy at the major league level, or do you think your best chance at the bigs lies in you mastering one position?
  10. Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:55 AM) That, and a $1.25 gets me a bottle of pop. Thanks for your appreciation Greg. Are you drinking RC? Man, I wish I could find a bottle of coke for a buck and a quarter! Anyways, thanks again for your work here good sir Knight.
  12. Check out the Soxtalk page at facebook. I put 10 pics up from the game.
  13. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 06:09 AM) im looking there, just sucks that none of them fit my situation. I need 1 ticket, perferably in the upper deck for less then $100, and i cant have these damn auctions!! If i get a ticket i wanna be @ the game at noon, and not fighting to get a parking spot at 1:30pm. These auctions last til noon, which blows cause im about an hour away without traffic :S Go up to the park and hang out. You will find someone trying to get rid of a ticket. One extra is pretty easy.
  14. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Does anyone know or have any experiences of walking up to a game like this (big playoff game) and trying to get tickets? Is their anyway id be able to be at the trop tommorow getting tickets? or no chance? The later you are willing to wait hanging around the park, the further the scalper prices come down.
  15. My personal favorite moments from the game... 1. The play at the plate. 2. Mauer bunting in the eighth 3. Ozzie leaving Danks in after a running reached in the eighth, and then getting the DP 4. The line out DP in the first 5. The Anderson catch to end it 6. The Thome HR 7. Singing Steam with 40,000 of my closest friends after Blackburn was lifted 8. Gardenhire using Kubel as the tying run, instead of bunting Gomez, and making Jenks get off of the mound and field the ball 9. Jenks lighting up the gun and the crowd in the 9th 10. The players standing at attention for the national anthem, even the guys from other countries But all time greatest moment from that game was absolutely getting the champagne sprays from Juan Uribe and Jim Thome
  16. QUOTE (TLAK @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 05:21 AM) One last comment on the game, wasn't it great to hear Nancy Faust again? I really miss her playing the night games. Even in such an intense game her word play (like Morneau has broken ...) brought a needed smile. And when they pulled Blackburn she really pumped up "Hey, Hey, Hey Goodbye", between the organ and the crowd singing, the place absolutely shook. Old time White Sox baseball, baby. Funny, the impressions that stick with you. It was quite a night. I'm glad you mentioned that, because I said it early, and had forgotten about it in the midst of the rest of the game. Nothing is as great as Nancy playing some Steam, while 40,000 of her closest friends sing-a-long.
  17. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 06:03 PM) I was listening to KFAN today, which is a Minnesota sports radio station and they were slamming Joe Mauer like no other because of bunting in his 3rd at bat. They were calling him afraid to hit against Danks since he had strucken out both previous times. Being the league leader in batting average, you shouldn't try for a bunt to get on base, according to them. I kind of agree with them, you have to question bunting when he's the league leader in average. Two things at work there. He definately did us a favor by bunting in that exact situation. Secondly, that is a hit in the dome. He deadened that ball so much because he is used to the roll on the turf in the RollerDome. At a grass stadium the ball sticks. Mauer didn't adjust for the road.
  18. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:55 AM) just curious, did the twins have anyone on the bench from the minors or whatever/expanded roster, that had more speed than cuddyer that could replace his position in the field? you'd have to think that someone with actual speed would've scored there They used Tolbert to pinch run in the 8th and Cuddy was the DH, so I don't think the D replacement would be problem
  19. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) I'm wondering if Anderson was in center if the Twins would have sent Cuddyer? I have said repeatedly during the last couple days that Anderson doesn't throw out Cuddyer at the plate, and Griffey doesn't make the catch in the 9th. Anderson has a better arm, but the first time I see him hit the target at homeplate, it will be the first. Griffey doesn't have the range that Anderson does (duh).

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) Ricobene's king-sized breaded steak sandwich with mozzarella and sweet peppers, from the original spot... Now THAT'S what I am talking about!!!
  21. The blackout effect in the ballpark, in person, was just visually stunning. I'll bet it looked awesome in HD, because it was spectacular being there.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Yes, it is now over. Yes, yes it is
  23. We have interviews set up with Sergio Miranda and CJ Retheford out of the White Sox minor league system. Please take your time to mosey over the future sox section of Soxtalk and add your questions to be asked of these players!
  24. Getting off to a quick start in the Trop Dome would be huge in this series. Getting on base and scoring a couple of runs in the first inning could really sow the seeds of doubt for a team that has never been there before. The longer the game stays scoreless or Tampa is ahead, the better chance they have in the entire series.
  25. CJ has agreed to talk to us, so let's hear what you would like to ask him. For reference sake, Scenario has done excellent work on his AAP page if you all would like more info on him. Hopefully this is the first of many talks we can arrange over the next few months. Let's hear those questions for CJ and for Sergio@!!!
