  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) Not by Senator McCain's definition Then again by Senator Obama's definition I am rich, because my taxes would go up under his plans.
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Mcdonald's at Union Station FTW! Getting someone who can understand your order is the hardest part there... Anyways, another great place in Union Station is Robinson's Ribs. Their tips are great.
  5. Great night for the US team in track. 2/3 in the 110 hurdles and 1/2/3 in the 400 meters. This is where these guys earn their keep.

  7. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) Who would have said THAT at the beginning of the year (that GF would lead the Sox with wins on August 21st)? Heck how many people thought we would have 73 wins... for the entire season?
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) I agree. There was nothing more impressive in the Olympics than that. A guy that tall and can get out of the blocks the way he does and with that speed. Unbelieveable. I would love to see him run the 400. That stride would really give him an advantage. I'd bet he could go sub 45 with zero training. He is built for the 400, or even better the 400 hurdles.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) dont touch age with a 10foot poll. Let MoveOn or a union hit that. It's ok for Lieberman to call Obama a nice YOUNG man, but the moment obama says McCains a geezer, forget it. over. THe GOP will pounce like a pride of lions. Kinda like any attempt to call Obama smart has been countered with turned into racial garbage since day one?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) So, clearly then you're going to abstain from voting since John McCain's tactics pissed you off so much, and if Senator Obama's campaign had not responded in kind you would have voted for him? Honestly the people campaigning for Obama have done more to convince me to vote for John McCain than John McCain ever could have. Watching his backslide away from what made him a great candidate in the first place has been depressing. If it hadn't have been for the Obama-trons, I would have seriously looked at the Libertarian candidate. More and more these people have convinced me to look further into the man, the myth, the legend, and the more I see, the more I see the man behind the curtian. He's not going to be a better President, he is just a better actor. Seeing the blatant two-faces of the Obama campaign, while getting it shoved down my throat has been simply nauseating. Somedays I swear that AHB is actually working for John McCain, and is just trying to piss people off so that they won't vote for Obama. Go ahead and give me all of the preachy "if that's why you vote" crap you like, I have had it with the Obama campaign. Hell I am ready to open a McCain campaign office in my house just to counter this exact type of BS, and do anything I can to make sure that Barack Obama does not win this election.
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) neither was Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. See how well that works? time to put the shoe on the other foot. Yeah change! I am glad a candidate for President can use the "He did it first" defense with a straight face. Same old stuff, different day. Obama is no different than Hillary Clinton now.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) May and Walsh didnt even lose a set, thats pretty damn impressive to me. I dont think they even lost a set in the last Olympics either, dominating a sport like that is more impressive than running in a straight line in my opinion. When you win a 200 meter race by half a second, that is the very definition of dominance. When you can set a world record after running full effort at only about 80% of a race, you don't get much more dominant than that. Not that May and Walsh aren't incredible, but this was epic in events that the entire world participates in, not to mention has a long and proud history.
  13. Well at least we know Obama isn't going to run a negative campaign that doesn't focus on the issues and instead points to stupid stuff like this...
  14. QUOTE (mreye @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) They gone! It's an Italian joint now. Not too bad. Damn. That's too bad.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) Hey SS2K, I'm pretty sure SF101 just called you old. There must be a generation gap or something, because this is the most literal bunch I have ever seen.
  16. Good lord you folks really enjoy missing the forest for the trees. Keep digging into the details of a hypothetical... Oh if only I said D2 instead of softball, THEN it would have made perfect sense. Forget I ever said anything and dive back into the stat page.
  17. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) Is that still there? I remember a Finkle's that was up near the Sara Lee building further north on Halsted Street off the river. Pretty good sandwiches there. Sounds like you and I have traveled the same path over 10+ years in the loop. Since you mention Greektown, have you ever been to Nine Muses? A little pricey and definitely a destination lunch spot that requires well over an hour of time but great grilled meat platters and excellent iced coffee drinks called frappes. Also a few decent looking eastern European waitresses as well. I highly recommend it if you have time to venture out of the loop. The outdoor or window seating is so nice and relaxing if you have a slow day at work in the summer. I haven't been there before. Mr. Greek, Greektown Gyros, and Zues were the places I used to hit up, along with Taco Burrito King, and the place that did gigantic pizza slices. Sounds good though.
  18. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) Cajun Chinese? That sounds good. Beware of Dog. They do a great bourbon chicken. I love it.
  19. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) But will another blow to the head cure it, like in the cartoons? In Gage's case you have nothing to lose...
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) As Costas was signing off on the NBC primetime coverage last night, he said that May/Walsh had the most impressive performance of the day in the Olympics. What a joke....I'd say that 19.30 seconds says otherwise. His two races are the most impressive thing of the whole Olympics as far as I am concerned.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Are you honestly comparing a softball league full of old people to college baseball? I guess you missed it, because there was a point in there. The level of competition and the tools of the player do make a big difference in what someone's future will be at the next levels. Statistics aren't everything.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) I think we got ourselves a steal with this one. This guy hit over .400 in college ball (WVU), and went undrafted until the 15th round or something. How does that make sense? Even if he doesn't have the best tools, the guy is a hitter. I hit over .700 in my softball league... And I don't think I should be drafted. Competition and tools are very important.
  23. If I am John McCain, in the state of the economy we have today, I BEG Alan Greenspan to run with me.
  24. EDIT I misread the question
