  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) The Russian Deputy Prime Minster was just on CNN and accused Georgia of Ethnic Cleansing like that of Kosovo. Project much?
  2. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Tell you what Jake, if you and I are ever in that situation, you go ahead and try to grab the guy with the big knife and while he swings around and sinks the blade through your eye socket and deep into your brain, I'll be setting the world record for 200 meters. Just remember, you don't have to be the fastest guy, just faster than everyone but one person.

  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) Bulls***. I was just in Texas a month ago and you f***s drive as crazy as anyone in Illinois. Especially when it comes to speed.
  5. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 07:23 AM) We're judging the whole trade by how the pitchers look now? How about the contributions you could have had from those guys, cheap, that the Sox gave away? Replace the utter crap we rolled out every fifth day in 2003 with Kip Wells throwing 200 innings of 133 era+ ball or anything close to that and we win the division. That's enough by itself for that trade to maintain its reputation as the s***tiest piece of s*** s***ted on Sox fans in as long as I can remember. I'll go to my grave swearing that Wells was never going to put up those numbers for us.
  6. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 06:52 AM) Belle does make Frank look like a media darling with loads of PR savvy. Bonds isn't exactly an easy interview either...
  7. Supposedly the story is that Jerry gave Frank Thomas the choice of signing any ball player he wanted after that season, between Belle and Barry Bonds, Frank chose Belle.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) He and the woman still claim the baby isn't his. To me that is immaterial. To have an affair after going on the campaign trail talking about how the cancer changed his life and all of these things he wanted other people to sacrifice because of his eye-openings, is just inexcusable to me. I don't think much of someone who would have an affair in the first place, let alone one who made his wife's health one of the central reasons for what he was campaigning for.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) And since we're deservedly bashing the man...hell let's note the old story about what happened to their other son a decade ago. Even more of a reason to be faithful to your wife.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) Holy crap. Bad enough it happened at all. Worse if he did it while his wife was battling cancer. Worst of all if it also resulted in a child. What an asshole. ^^ f*** John Edwards and his "life changing experiences".
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) What I thought of here was on 9/11 when the passengers of one of the planes stopped the terrorists from crashing it into whatever building they were aiming for. I think a lot people, at least Americans, would band together against someone doing such a terrible deed even if some damage had already been done. (Who's to say he wouldn't go after someone else with that knife?) Actually this situation is very similar in that they prevented anyone else from getting hurt. The kid was gone. That might be a harsh realization to come to, but it correct. The passengers got everyone else to safety, which was the most important thing to do at that point, even if the killer had somehow escaped.
  12. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) Wait so this list is only one person's favortie sox players...so we all could essentially make a thread for our 50 favorite players? Its a combination of everyone who took the time to send in their personal weighted lists.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) Dude, the whole point of this is to talk about them. Asking people not to react would basically take the whole meaning of a message board away. I don't think that's a good call at all. I think it is a much better idea than having something that looks like the cesspool the Brian Anderson thread got turned into.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) I love the fact that he made essentially the same "threatening" comments to both Bush and Obama, and they only charged him with threatnening the candidate. Also, the fact that they used his "weapons" as proof of his intent, notwithstanding the fact that he owned them and was in a bailbondsman class when the comments were made. If I were this kid, I'd hire myself a real good lawyer and sue the pants off the government. Especially when you factor in that even talking about killing the President is a federal offense.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) <!--quoteo(post=1712067:date=Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:57 AM:name=BigSqwert)-->QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) <!--quotec-->Cool. That means negative McCain attack ads! I'm curious as to what kind of ads each side will run. Obama already has one ad released it it doesn't mention McCain at all: Will McCain continue to run negative ads? Or, go positive and prove why HE should be president, not why the other shouldn't? Should be fun. I just saw the Moveon.org ad they released.... I am glad to see that Obama indeed is just doing his attacking by proxy.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) True. A civil debate shouldn't be discouraged though. It adds to the desire of going through lists like this. I wouldn't have said anything if it had been civil...
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:47 AM) Oh come on now. You can't expect to see a list of 50 favorite players and not expect people to question some of the results. What's the point of even doing this if people can't comment. BIG difference between questioning results and acting like the way some of reacted in this thread.
  18. Before we move on to the next lists... Can I ask one small favor? If you don't like the picks of people's favorite players, keep it to yourself. This is a completely subjective list based on nothing else other than who people like. It is not going to have any rhyme or reason, or make any sense to some. Just because you don't like a player, or he doesn't have big stats, doesn't mean that someone else doesn't as well. Please keep the discussions to the player, and things about him. K, tnx.
  19. 63-50 +0.5 games over MN
  20. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 06:55 AM) How big of a donation before the candidate himself knows about it? I can't believe either candidate knows about every $5,000 donation that flows in. I wonder what the threshold is. "I cannot recall..." Yup, I can see this coming a mile away.
  21. I watched this story on CNN yesterday and was totally shocked by it. The part that amazed me was that he also threatened to kill someone else important... Who was it? Oh yeah, the guy who is actually the President of the United States... It was a complete afterthought in the story.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) Frankly, I'd love to find out. I really hope the press takes a close look at all these bundlers now that it's starting to be an issue. It's bothered me for years how rich people conveniently seemed to get all their friends to contribute as well. This guy broke his teeth working in Chicago. You KNOW he is not clean. I have already seen an article about his getting money from someone in Palestine by listing himself as being from Georgia instead. It was published in a Jewish newspaper.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) What the hell is the "Rally McBoone?" Whatever it is, it needs the Old Yeller treatment, because about the time it showed up, Boone cirlced the drain.
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) The biggest threat to humanity is humanity. This may sound cliche but something like 99% of species that have ever existed on this planet have gone extinct and one day humans will be gone too unless we figure out a smarter way to live here. Yes, we can f*** it up for ourselves and it wouldn't be that hard to do it either. And even if someone thinks all of this is bulls***, we are eventually going to run out of oil, so going single-mindedly after drilling domestically as if it's going to fix things by itself doesn't make any sense. Nobody is going to take it seriously either as long as they're getting their fix (i.e. as long as they get cheap oil). It is cliche when you go back and look throughout the planetary history of dieoffs. They are fairly common.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Do I need to dredge up the info on the 700,000 barrels of oil spilled by Katrina and Rita? Those 2 storms spilled about 2/3 of an Exxon-Valdez. Right in the area you're drooling over. So what alternative energy is completely 100% clean and safe?
