Democratic Rules and Bylaws Committee
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 28, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) If primaries can get their own threads, this deserves one too. This from the Boston Globe... Dem lawyers: Fla., Mich. can't be fully restored As for those "uncommitted" Michigan Votes, well, Hillary says Obama should get none. But the exit polls show differently: If these had been the candidates on the ballot today, for whom would you have voted in the Democratic presidential primary? Hillary Clinton - 46% John Edwards - 12% Barack Obama - 35% With a full field, she doesnt even break 50%. That drastically alters her "popular vote" argument. I did some number crunching: Based on my numbers, Obama leads the popular vote +468,909. With FL and not MI, Obama +174,137. With FL and MI (MI base don exit polls), Obama +108,753. And this all assumes that "disenfranchised" Obama supporters did not come out to vote since he wasnt on the ballot. The arguement falls down right there. You can't apply people's feelings today to how they would have voted months ago. Things have changed a lot since then. They need to stick to their guns and not seat the delegates so that this doesn't happen again.

All Things Pro-Obama
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) The caveat provided there is everything. I mean, I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous stretch. We are saying that it somehow reflects badly on John McCain that one of this economic advisers lobbies for a major Intl bank, which also happens to have an arm (private banking - 100% unrelated to mortgage banking, BTW) that may or may not be under some legal scrutiny? And let me put it into these terms... Do you really want someone shaping banking policy, who has no experience in the banking industry? That's how we get crap like Sarbines Oxley.

All Things Pro-Obama
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) I'm not so sure, and in fact I think Bayh could be more useful to Obama than he is to Clinton. I think Bayh presents some nice advantages for him - Indiana then is in play, for example. Not that I think Bayh is the most likely guy, I don't, but I'd bet he's on an initial list. I don't see Indiana in play for Obama no matter who he puts on his ticket. Hillary had a chance at it with Bayh on the ticket, but it just isn't going to happen against the GOP. And if he somehow does win Indiana, it won't matter because he will win the election by Reagan-esque proportions.

$10 per gallon gas
QUOTE (Cknolls @ May 28, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) I think oil could pull back to 123.70/barrel, and possibly as low as 112.85 from the recent 135.09 highs. A sell off isn't out of the realm of possibility after the run up it has had over the past week and a half or so. Hell the long term chart looks like a classic bubble.

All Things Pro-Obama
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2008 -> 08:46 AM) IMO, that all changes when Obama clinches it officially. At that point, I think Bayh is on the short list, and I don't think he'll complain about that either. If Obama is the nominee, he doesn't need Bayh.

$10 per gallon gas
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 28, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) Gas has dropped roughly 7 dollars since last thursday to 128/barrel yet prices are still going up... It was actually over $9 for oil (I am guessing that is what you meant) at the lows for the session. But that looks like it might have been a buying chance, because all of the sudden the rally hats are on, and we are up over $3 from that low point.

What should Ozzie do with Swisher?
I agree. AJ is a much better hitter when he is given a role like #2 hitter, versus a power guy in the #5 or #6 slot. This is the AJ I fell in hate with when he was a Twin.

What is going on??
QUOTE (gosox41 @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) I heard 3 distrubing things today that can greatly affect clubhouse chemistry: 1. Cabrera whining like a littile baby to the official scorer in the middle of a game. Forget him. That's garbage. 2. Ovtavio Dotel going after Allen Thomas-not sure if this true, but it's what I heard. What's the story behind it? 3. Alexi Ramirez ignoring Guillen's bunt sign in the 12th last night. Yes we all know it worked out, but who's running this team, Ramirez or Guillen. Nice to know a .200 hitting rookie is calling the shots. Are Sox management going to stand for this? Looks to me like the inmates are running the asylum. Cabrera is selfish and a cry baby. I don't know about you, but where I work physcially going after an employee is not a good idea. Last, Ramirez should listen to the manager. Am I over analyzing this, or are these 3 incidents somewhat disconcerting? Bob I'd be curious to hear more about this as well.

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 27, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) First off, Critic, you still suck B) Second, I hope this thing becomes a series. It would suck to have this thing only go 4 or 5 and be a dud. Its a shame, I really wanted to see Pittsburgh make it a series.

Your first place Chicago White Sox!
28-23 +2 games
-
Alexei full-time at second base?
The thing that bugs me about Ramirez is that he really seems to have a low baseball IQ.
-
Carlos Quentin
Keep writing in CQ on your ballots. Force the AL to either pick him, or put him on the final ballot.

Uribe to 15 Day DL retroactive, Wise called up
Wise is gone as soon as Uribe is healthy. They brought him up because they don't care about burning his options. Best case scenario is that Richar's rehab goes well, and quickly, and we bring him up and cut Uribe completely.

Soxtalk Softball Part II
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 27, 2008 -> 05:15 PM) I'm going to look through my admin contract and see if there are any incentives tied towards softball related activities. If there is a free shirt/hot dog involved... i'd have to consider it. The only free hot dog is if Gage shows up...

For GOP only
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) I know it's the GOP only thread, but FWIW, it turns out it was Buchenwald and his Great Uncle, both of which have been confirmed. He messed up 2 details. Figured you guys might not see the details in the "Hillary" thread if I didn't mention it here. Aushwitz just plays better to the crowds because most people have never heard of the other camp. That makes sense now why he would mention that camp. It feels a lot more intentional to me now. I wonder if his uncle had to duck sniper fire while he was at it?

All Things Pro-Obama
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 27, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) Why anyone thinks Bayh would be on Obama's short list is beyond me. He was one of the last Hillary holdouts on the planet. Not a chance.

What No thread on Joakim yet????
Another reason that drafting Beasley might not be a bad idea...
-
Alexei full-time at second base?
Ozzie liked that move in the 12 inning because it was a specialty of his while he was playing still. He'd stick the bat out there to fake the bunt, and then when the corners charged he'd slap it over someone's head. It's a lost art now-a-days.

Soxtalk Softball Part II
QUOTE (DumpJerry @ May 23, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) The individuals who caused that debacle last year were perma banned from WSI to a degree never seen before. We went to each of their computers and made sure all and any cookies were removed from them to prevent them from even lurking us. We then traded for some prospects that, by comparison, make the Carlos Quentin deal look risky. *Yawn* Even the trashtalking is slow and popped up.

Soxtalk Softball Part II
Any other opinions? We need to get this shored up to start to take orders and arrange for tickets. We need to know who would be in for a patio party, and who would be in for group tickets and how many people.
-
It's Never too Early..............
Trade for a second baseman who can hit at the top of the order (#1 or #2)... Such as Jose Lopez from Seattle, Brandon Phillips of Cincy, Ray Durham of SF, Brian Roberts of Baltimore, Felipe Lopez of Washington, or Freddy Sanchez of Pitt.

For GOP only
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) I like the idea of cutting spending, but it's going to take more than a promise to reduce or eliminate earmarks because that's just a couple of drops in the bucket in the big picture. That's just one step in the right direction. A Congress that would quit sending pork to the President and then over-riding the vetos would be a nice place to start.

Carmona to miss a month
I hate to see injuries, but this is something that could help to bury Cleveland.

Should Konerko be put on the DL to heal his thumb?
QUOTE (The Beast @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) What if the Sox put Konerko on the DL and called up Brad Eldred to play first base? He's been hitting the ball well---but I'm not sure about his defense. Would Eldred be a viable option? I very seriously doubt it. There are plenty of guys ahead of Eldred, especially because the Sox have other guys who can play 1B. I think they would call up a middle IF if Konerko was DLd.
