  1. QUOTE (max power @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) I wonder what the logic behind having quentin bat in front of crede is. OBP in front of clutchness.
  2. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) With only one spot left some good ones are definitely gonna be left out... Animal House Blues Brothers Fast Times at Ridgemont High I am pretty sure Blues Brothers is in here already.
  3. Out of curiousity, what was the total number of appearences for the movie that the most people nominated.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) I believe he means that the Cubs franchise itself has never been below .500 ever at any point in time over the course of its history. Cubs franchise history...they f***ing dominated in the 1870s and 1880s. Yes, that is what I meant, thanks for saying it much more clearly.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) Thanks for your donation, Southsider! Just please, no biker short pictures! Good luck
  6. QUOTE (vandy125 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) That's another movie that didn't make my list. I'm sure its funny, but I've never gotten around to seeing the full thing. It's one of those movies that I always catch bits and pieces of on TV. I usually don't feel like renting it because I know that it will be on TV, but I never actually catch the whole thing on TV. It's kind of a weird cycle that I have with certain movies and this is one of those movies. It loses A LOT on TV because it is pretty well censored to eliminate lots of the unpleasentries that were in the orginal.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) On the other hand, Broadway's not exactly a guy who'd be in a great position to give back a couple of mph on his fastball to gain more control is he? This is true too, though with the amount of movement he has naturally, he might not have to give up too much. I don't know what will happen, I am just curious to see how these two will affect each other.
  8. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 10:02 AM) If you don't think Caddyshack is funny, something is seriously wrong with your sense of humor. Also, Blazing Saddles is a fantastic choice, hilariously great movie. It was on 7 lists, and 4 of which it was listed #1. That's a really telling fact (although it definitely should have been on all 23 ) I think the age of BS has something to do with its rank, especially when you look at all of the "new" movies on the list. I seriously consider it, by far, the greatest comedy of all time, and its not even close. The one liners, the double entres and the suble genius that is Mel Brooks really shown through in that movie. I think I have seen it at least 100 times over the years, and it never gets old.
  9. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) Uggh, sorry to hear that. I haven't lived in an area that used Chicago's city water since the mid-'90s. Back when I lived in the area, it at least *tasted* pretty good. Then I take it that it's even more dangerous to eat Lake Michigan perch now. I used to go fishing in NW Indiana with my grandfather all of the time. Too bad the next generation won't be able to do the same. yeah, its not pretty... http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/905720,...water21.article http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...0,6283521.story
  10. This is a perfect chance to get Anderson into a game tonight. Hopefully it happens.
  11. Happy Birthday boys
  12. Good luck Rexy

Holy s*** was an incredible episode. Ben might be one of the best characters there is out there. He plays that role sooooo well. The scene between him and Whidmore was just awesome.
  14. I also remember seeing on the Bravo pop up video version of Blazing Saddles that originally Mel Brooks tried to get John Wayne to be in the movie. Wayne said there was no way he would be in the movie, but he would be first in line to see it.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 07:26 AM) A socialist group honoring Hitler? Anyway, IN should be a fun one to watch. Polls are currently very tight, and it really seems like the difference maker state for the next few weeks. http://www.citybythelake.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1283 I also did an interview with the guy, along with his two GOP competitors looking for the right to run in the general election against incumbant Dem Joe Donnelly. The interesting thing is that the guy never disavows anything that the group said or stands for. http://www.citybythelake.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1288
  16. Am I the only Hoosier voter out here? Just curious. Anyways, this doesn't need to be pinned, but it might be an interesting area to discuss polls, campaign visits and the like here. There are some interesting races, starting at the top of the ticket and including governor, and the US House seat district two, which includes a guy who spoke at a socialist group honoring Hitler.
  17. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Liriano got the s*** kicked out of him today. It's gonna be while. What does his velocity look like, and are they letting him throw the slider?
  18. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) As far as tap water goes, Chicago's is by far the best I've ever had. I take it you missed the Trib and Sun Times articles last week about all of the different crap in Chicago's drinking water...
  19. Always nice to wake up to good news
  20. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) interesting the Cubs are the lovable losers even though they have a .514 winning percentage. I heard an interesting trivia bit... The Cubs are the only MLB tream to never have had a losing record for their whole history.
  21. QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) sweeney might soon be gone His back probably won't last anyway.
  22. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Note that Paulie has been hitting about as badly as Frank over the past few weeks, yet Ozzie hasn't "indefinitely" benched him for lack of production, even with a much cheaper and ML-ready Josh Fields waiting patiently in AAA. The question was in reference to wanting the Sox to take the same basic action at the Blue Jays did, when the vast majority feel that Toronto's actions were wrong.
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) So, the reason he did well is only because Durham sucks. OK... what about his last 3 starts where he gave up a total of 2 earned runs? They didn't all suck. One game was an 8-inning start against 1st place Scranton? (Scranton is second in both OBP and SLG in the entire International League.) He doesn't need a blazing fastball to be a starter. With the late movement he has on his pitches, if he shows good command he could start. There are alot of starters in MLB I can think of who are similar. It would be interesting to see what happens with Broadway when Cooper gets ahold of him. His big thing is to give guys a repeatable delivery to use, that way they can spot their pitches. I'd be curious to see how much his control improves and how much movement he loses in return, and to see what kind of pitcher it makes him.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Heard in an interesting take on this on NPR a few weeks ago. Basically, the earlier they catch plots like this, the harder it is to prove anything in court. So early detection and prevention is good in some sense, but it lets the plotters walk. Or you can let them blow it up and have all of the evidence you need! Its a no win situation.
  25. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 08:25 AM) Also, Fields's defense is barely acceptable at 3B as of now which in my mind just doesn't justify trying to move him to a more important defensive position where he'd probably suck horribly for a while. Not to mention that the last stat I saw was Fields had 24 Ks in something like 59 ABs.
