QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) I thought we were talking about the Presidential records? I can't believe she has that much official authority. National secrets, etc. She is the one on the campaign trail claiming all of this experience from her work in the White House and all of the meetings she sat in on etc. Without the records, who knows.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:02 AM) So you accept she has Presidential experience because she was First Lady? I've rejected it, I just didn't see her sitting in with the Pentagon, etc. I put her and Nancy, Barbara, Rosaline, in about the same position. There was some early window dressing, but in the end, she was a First Lady. That's just it. She won't authorize the release of her records to see if what she is claiming she did in the White House is true or not. Instead all we have to go on is hearsay, and what her and Bill have to say. The records would clear that up really quickly.

John Edwards has said he would have no problem negotiating with Iran, but he won't go over and meet his neighbor, because his wife is afraid of him, and refuses to be "nice" to him.

Soxfest 08
Wow. They have totally given the finger to the small budget fan. Soxfest used to be the one event that you didn't have to be rich to attend and have a chance at interacting with the players. It seems like even as a charity event, they are pricing the ordinary fans out of it.

This is interesting... Hillary is up on the stump talking about being open and honest, yet her camp won't release anything to do with her work in the White House, dispite her referring to it all of the time. My favorite part is where Bill blames Bush, as usual. It gets pretty old when everything bad that happens to the Clinton's is the Republicians fault. http://www.newsweek.com/id/57351

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) TEMPORARY increase? Sure, and then when the Dems get into power, it becomes a permanent increase. The government, whoever is in power, hates to give back money that isn't thiers to begin with. Good point. Remember the income tax itself was supposed to be temporary, and the AMT was only supposed to affect 155 households.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) The fact that the story was posted from a news article shows that the media is covering it. Actually, only so much. It was covered by the local newspaper, and that is pretty much it. I haven't seen it covered by any of the traditional large news outlets.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) Actually, tax cuts have increased government revenue through growth of the economy. Of course, if you spend a trillions of dollars to blow stuff up in Iraq, you will still end up with a deficit. However, the Iraq war will end and that spending will curtail. However, the Democrats plan to give everyone everything for free is an expense that they plan on keeping for the foreseeable future. So what exactly aren't you and other believers in the Democrats entitled too? Ok, free house, free food, free energy resources, free tuition, free health care, and free transportation is what is on the list now. What is next? I do think the government should help people who really need it. I am even in favor of free tuition and health care for truly poor people. But that is not the democrat plan, everything for free for everyone. government takes it all for you. The irony is that without the wars in Iraq and Afganistan we would be right about a zero deficit right now. I don't know the exact number, but it wouldn't be much at all.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) Fred's Immigration policy is up on his website. I like it. http://www.fred08.com/virtual/Immigration.aspx I was just going to post this if no one else had done so already. I'll post a quick summary instead. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/200.../23/426727.aspx I actually think the idea of not having illegals round-ups is an interesting one, but he is also not allowing amnesty by still leaving it as a crime to be here illegally, and removing the incentives to do so. One of my favorite things I saw in this was this... http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/20...son-anno-1.html Bravo. There is monetary incentive to commit all sorts of crimes, but there are also punishments. Good for Thompson for realizing that we should be rewarding the people who do things the right way, not the wrong way.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Zakaria. So I am curious where the label police are when "neoconservative" is thrown around by a "mainstream" publication like it is going out of style.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) It's really not that hard, as I think you can tend to notice it in every sport. If you constantly try to succeed, continually fail, and you can't figure out why you are failing, you just stop caring. You don't stop trying, but at some points, the concern is not there. OK, I guess that makes sense.
