  1. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) BTW - Zero% of this can be proven by science: Depends on who you ask. There are people who swear they have plenty of evidence. Anyways, you are totally missing the point. You are smarter than making arguments like this. That is my point. If that type of arguement doesn't work for one side, it shouldn't work for anyone.
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Because there is a ton of scientific evidence to back his message. And once again, what exactly are the negatives for instituting the change that he and many others are seeking? What are the negatives about believing in God and living a Christian life? You could make the world such a better place. If you don't you could go to hell and burn for eternity. Is it worth the risk? Go ahead argue the facts, that is fine. Don't give me the "what is the downside?" crap, unless you actually want to practice it consistantly.
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) :lolhitting You're telling ME to move on about it when someone else brought it up? Of course. And you couldn't ever be the bigger person and just walk away could you?
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Never mind. I'll go start a few tire fires and break a few mercury thermometers over Lake Michigan this weekend. What difference does it make? Perhaps you can also link abortion and immigration to this debate while you're at it. That's OK, I didn't think you would get the similarities of the strawman arguements. The statistical arguements I can handle, the message arguements bother me, but I can understand them. The "what if he is right arguements" don't work for religion or Iraq, why would should they work for Al Gore? Big picture, it is all the same fear-mongering.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) Not the least bit. At least superstitious right? throwing salt over your shoulder, not stepping on cracks, avoiding the number 13 etc... Because after all, if the warnings are right, think of the consequences!
  6. Personally I don't understand why you are so sensative about it. You got the attention you wanted... move on.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) So what are the negatives if we heed Gore's warnings and his message turns out to be false? Cleaner air and water? Fuel efficient technologies? More expansive forests? Seems like a win-win. If we ignore his warnings and he is right about his message then we all lose. So I take it you are a religious man?
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) I didn't win because I "spammed for votes" (I don't consider it spam: attempts to de-alienate SoxTalk's voters aren't "spam"). I won because I was the only non-establishment candidate. I won because I promised youth, vigor and change. I won because I was right for SoxTalk. That is why I am the President, like every President -- I won on my own merits! Busted. http://www.trueseo.net/seo-terms.html http://www.expedite-email-marketing.com/in...sdefinition.htm
  9. QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) Now, see I thought you were going for a joke about how Jim's pants are a form of toxic radiation. That is question for whomever does the laundry...
  10. Well hopefully Nieves can wake up that pen next year. It was ugly for most of the year last year.
  11. Well hopefully Rick has been training someone on how to do his job, because we will need it. Good luck to Rick, hopefully for his sake he gets the job.
  12. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) Joe Cowley on the White Sox radio show this morning, some interesting thoughts - He believes Torii Hunter is their primary target and he knows "for a fact" two White Sox players are already calling and recruiting him. Cowley says the White Sox will inquire on ARod but sees it as an extreme longshot. He says MacDougal will be back, says the Sox are going to give MacDougal every opportunity to turn things around but he will be a 6th/early 7th inning pitcher until/unless he proves himself worthy of pitching in the 8th. Says MacDougal's problem is confidence and to make it worse, MacDougal's confidence wavers day to day. Also that MacDougal needs to understand this is not KC, here it's every pitch matters from April 1st onward. Says MacDougal has kind of an "oh well" demeanor. Also says they will definetely explore deals for Contreras and Garland but wouldn't hesitate to bring them back if they don't get the deals they want. Cowley mentioned moving Konerko is a possibility but less likely than trading a starter. On Rowand, Cowley says he talks to Rowand "now and again" and he believes strongly Rowand would take less years and dollars to come back here, in relation to the $84M reports out there. Thanks for the notes... a couple of thoughts I have here. -On Torii, I am guessing AJ is one of the guys recruiting him, I wonder who the other one is? -On MacD, How can you have confidence problems, and an oh well attiutude? Aren't those kind of contradictory? If you are having confidence problems you are obviously worrying about your preformance. I am not sure that makes sense to me. -On Rowand, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the Jones and Hunter talk was out there to try to get other teams interested in them while the Sox swoop in on Rowand at a "hometown" discount.
  13. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) Here are the sweet, proposed, new cook county taxes. I thought you Dems would be happy to hear about it. • Hiking the sales tax 267 percent • Increasing the gasoline tax 100 percent • Driving up parking taxes 100 percent To summarize, Blago tried to add $8 billion in new taxes, Stroger is trying to add $888 million in new taxes, Daley is trying to add $293 million in new taxes, while the CTA is pushing for another $150 million in funding from a 0.25% sales tax hike.
  14. They usually do way better in the humanitarian end of things than they do in the political end of things. Is there a use for them? Eh, I guess, but they should be much more effective and reactive. The red tape and politics are just nightmares, especially when you add the corruption that has gotten all of the way up to the top of the organizational structure of the UN. They are pretty much the Articles of Confederation. Good starting point, but they have outlived their usefulness, and need a replacement.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) My point is that although language towards each other might be irrational, actions toward each other tend to stay rational in the mideast. Ahmadenijad talks crazy, but won't act crazy. And probably won't get the opportunity to because the President of Iran needs permission from the Supreme Council to take a dump, let alone invade or attack another country. Rational? Using a nuclear weapon wouldn't be a rational move in the first place. The very survival of Israel would be at stake at that point. I have no doubts they will respond as they always have and blow their attackers to smitherines. Ahmadinejad doesn't talk crazy, he talks like a total devotee to his religious beliefs. He honestly believes that it is his job to blow Israel off of the map to herald the return of the 12th Imam. Any context of this thinking has to be viewed through those ideals. The guy is preparing his country for the end of the world. That should tell you what his priority list looks like. Read through his belief system if you are not familiar with it. http://www.danielpipes.org/article/3258 http://freedomspeace.blogspot.com/2007/10/...or-mahmoud.html
  16. BTW, for those who did not Toews goal because of the Friday home blackout, check it out, it was incredible. http://www.talkbhawks.com/forums/index.php...0entry754
  17. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) I'm still not convinced that ARod would even sign with the White Sox if they were the highest bidder (which ofcourse they would never be). Why would he want to play for a team that is unlikely to make the playoffs ? Why wouldn't he take less money to play for the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Cubs, Dodgers, Padres, Angels, Cardinals, Astros etc. ? Who was the last Borass client to take less money for anything?
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) I've hung around a Tigers board on occasion. There are some smart posters in there. Also, my favorite team site (non-Sox) used to be Bat Girl. People here will probably hate me for that. Anyway, I thought she was bloody hilarious. But I guess she is sort of retired now. There was no one in Soxdom that put on the show of Bat Girl until Palehose 6 came along. She was incredible.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) Yeah, virtually zero. I still think he may be setting himself up for an independent run. I have said it before... I agree 100%. It would be interesting to see what combination of issues appeals to the most people. Ron Paul seems like he is on the right page of at least a couple of hot button issues, and it could be enough to make him a spoiler.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) Ron Paul higlighting his social conervative credentials, now that he is becoming a slightly bigger blip on the radar. He's apparently a staunch pro-lifer, wanting to pull the rug out from under the courts. Interesting idea, though I don't really agree with it. He certainly does get right to the point though, doesn't he? His Iraq stance leaves him no chance at the Republician nomination.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) It was just another example of him not knowing what he would do or not knowing about an issue. He seems like the least ready candidate in my life time. Why is he even running? The "conservatives" want a true conservative candidate, who also has name power. No one outside of a select few really gives two craps about the guys in the race now. The two guys leading the race are both guys who are way to centric to satisfy that wing of the party. Thompson gives them name recognition and a record to go with it. Personally I do think you are reading too far into that statement to make it into something else convient. All of the candidates seem to be trying to corner the "one with God" thing. Its rather annoying actually, as if you know anything about Christianity, you aren't supposed to be doing things for recognition, it is supposed to be between you and God.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) Which is funny, because the polls asking if the public favored the bill showed over 70% support. There seems to be a 20-30% band in there that are expressing opinions on a bill they know nothing about. That seems pretty low if you ask me
  23. Interesting USA Today poll. Dispite the inability to get their side of the story out, a majority of Americans seem to agree with the Republicians and Bush on this issue. http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/...ppoll16.art.htm
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 08:32 AM) Classy. http://www.drudgereport.com/flash6.htm It seems Pete Stark has a nice history of saying some really ignorant things about people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Stark
  25. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) assuming the bid is real, a very good thing. Wow, Rush is going to be a little lighter in the wallet! I guess according to the rules, this makes him a great person now.
