  1. QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Thank you. I live by the rule that if the title doesn't interest me - I stay out. I don't get the whole thing about the NFL draft. I don't really care. But, when there's multiple draft threads I don't go in and post how boring the draft is and how idiotic everyone must be to give a crap about round 8. I stay out. More people should do the same. Theads about mods are stupid
  2. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Another one stealing my catch phrases. Lets go down to SD and pound the hell out of the surfer dudes with the rediculous camoflauge uniforms. RIP EM!!!!! You know what they say Nuke, immitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Yes, they did. The way I did the numbers...Garcia and Dye were bought with Ordonez's money, while El Duque, A.J., Pods, Hermanson, and Vizcaino came from El Cabayo. The way I saw it, Maggs money was pretty well spent before 2004 ended. Pretty much Garcia+Contreras=Maggs.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_a...0054.shtml?5day Tex think you'll be effected by her..? Its rare for a hurricane to catch a straight west course. Usually at some point they catch a jet stream north and strike the gulf coast. It does happen occasionally though.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) Looking for a Beatles refresher course, are you? There is always time for more Beatles... QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) did you catch both references? Absolutely. And any analogy is better with a Beatles reference, for anyone looking for tips on how to be a better poster
  6. And something like this is the EXACT reason why GMs and MGRs don't overreact to players who have bad games or even prolonged slumps. In a professional major league baseball player, the margin of error for Neal Cotts was the position of his eyes during his delivery. Think about that for a second.
  7. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:03 AM) Meaningless posts with no content make me angry...and you wouldnt like me angry.. OK, besides the "Incredible Hulk" reference...c'mon guys, if you are gonna take the time to make a post, SAY SOMETHING IN IT. This is the perfect time to steal a Hawkism... HE GAWN!!!
  8. Its another good example of Ozzie looking at the big picture. It is better to have Damaso miss a game or two in June, vs having Damaso go out and seriously hurting himself and missing a longer stint.
  9. QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) :rolly That could be the dumbest thing you've ever said. I'm sure you are just taking me out of context... :rolly
  10. Happy Birthday and Welcome in
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 06:44 AM) I would like to point out that the moderating team is a large cross section of Soxtalk. Not everyone is an old fart like YASNY. With that comes a very healthy debate on the back side of how to make this site friendly for a wide range of posters. We have created forums and sub forums with this in mind. Some posters have a majority of posts in forums other than Pale Hose Talk. Others, never stray from White Sox Baseball threads. We hope there is room for everybody who wishes to be friendly, courteous, and kind. We have many examples of heated debates that did not step over and become rude. Unfortunately, we have some current threads, over silly topics, that have become rude to the point of needing to be closed. I've always used the party analogy. You come to the party, meet a few people, make a couple "friends", share some stories, hell get drunk and sing Brandy, Your a Fine Girl, at the top of your lungs and no one will care. Get drunk, call the guy next to you an idiot, piss in the corner, disrespect the guy who is throwing the party, and you *will* be leaving. Sometimes until you sober up, sometimes when many pages from the calendar have turned. If you think while suspended you can come in through the bedroom window, protected by a silver spoon, it will be a very long time before you are welcomed back. And normally when the drunk is tossed out, the party gets better. Seriously, does any album flow together better than Sgt Pepper?
  12. QUOTE(56789 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I just found a perfect example to the comment on how admins and moderaters are treated better than other posters. In the NHL Salary Cap thread people would say something bad about the NHL and everyone would say "If you dont like the NHL stay out of an NHL thread" well then aboz comes in and says "the nhl :sleep :sleep :sleep " and no one says a word to him. Out of curiousity, what do you feel should have been done?
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) My guess is he a troll. This situation has been addressed.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) If we're talking about things that bug us, I would like to throw out the fact that notification on certain things is slow. Whether it be about suspension, a thread being closed, a warning, or any other type of thing, I think I'd like to see the entire mod and admin group do a better job of notifying people very shortly afterwards. That is all Unfortunately that is one of the draw backs of how we "team moderate" for lack of a better title. Unless something is completely egregious or completely obvious (a cub troll posting "Sox Suck"ie) we pretty much take the situation to the admins/mods as a group, and all discuss it to get the best possible answer. Sometimes that takes a while as we try to get a solid cross-section of admins/mods to make sure that we are not under/over reacting to a situation. That system prevents one person from making a hasty decesion. Its not the best, we know, but it seems to work best for us.
  15. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) You couldn't hit either, eh? Not a lick. But I could take a walk, and run like hell.
  16. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Me too!!! It probably doesn't fit me anymore. But if it does, it's now my Jermaine Dye jersey and before that it was my Joe Nossek jersey. It'll always be Robin, no matter who wears 23 as far as I am concerned.
  17. I love watching Pods play the game. He is the major league player that I always dreamed about being while playing little league.
  18. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) Perhaps I'm in the wrong major? Nothing says useless undergrad degree like German and International Studies. you do a great job at writing stories. Most people who do interviews are satisified with putting out a Q&A format story. To actually incorporate the questions and turn it into an article is a step above. Take a pat on the back, because that is solid work.
  19. Reminder... if you want to be a part of this, your guess is due by Friday at 3 pm CST. Thanks
  20. Jackie and MB>KW, thanks for the posts... seriously. We like to think that one think that makes us stand out is that we as mods and admins aren't above critisism and correction. We know we aren't perfect, and we want to make this the best place we can. That's why we allow you all to say when you feel like we are messing up. For people who do not know, you are always free to contact any of us and tell us your concerns and feeling, because we won't blow you off, or tell you that you are wrong. We listen and try to incorporate what we can into our site.
  21. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) I decided today that I'm going to take a week of vacation in August, fly home a week early for a bridal shower I'm throwing, so I can see the Sox play at home once this year. Yes, I am planning my vacation around the Sox. (My other mini-break this summer is driving to Baltimore to see them play at the end of July.) But I'm excited!!!!!! We were planning a vacation out east to see that same series in Baltimore... then something popped up and plans changed a little. Instead of seeing Baltimore, DC, and some civil war sites, we are getting ultrasounds and looking for houses... You'll have have to hold down the fort for us Soxy
  22. f*** the Cubs. I wouldn't and haven't given them a dime.
  23. Beautiful Cerb. Really professional looking.
  24. southsider2k5 replied to ChiSoxfan123's topic in SLaM
    Welcome to Soxtalk dude!
  25. QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Here's some context to Dean's statement. Yeah him and Hitler... they were just misunderstood.
