  1. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) SS, I see your point, I'm just being a smartass. You have to admit though, there is some irony there. Take off the LOVE button, it's disrupting my history lesson on war and killing. Sometimes I don't think we give kids enough credit. Meh, seeing teenagers today at a pretty close level, sometimes I wonder if we give them too much credit. We all know if it is something that could attract attention, good or bad, teens are drawn to it like moths. If it involves sex and offends teachers/parents all the better. If teens could act like adults, this wouldn't be necesary, but seeing as teachers hear giggles everytime the word "penis" or "vagina" is mentioned in sex ed class, I know these things would cause problems.
  2. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Can someone explain why this was such a highly contested battle?? What's the big deal? Hoosiers are backwards and fear change... next question.
  3. I am still not convinced we will win the AL Central either. We have played weak teams, and are still only 2 1/2 games ahead of a 2nd half team. It isn't hard to imagine the Twins winning the Central IMO. And based on history, you know the Twins will have a big run in them. We might have already seen ours.
  4. Attendance is going to explode if we keep playing well. Luckily we have 6 games against Detroit and KC, so that should help the record, as long as these injuries heal up.
  5. Bumped for Wino...
  6. Congrats for Jon. After all of the abuse he has gotten, I am glad to see he is getting at least a moment in the sun .
  7. QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) ...People live in Indiana? Yeah, and we are all related.
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) It took til almost noon for this thread to get started. Yeah, I had first thing this morning in the "attendance thread" pool
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Kids, hate your bodies and hate yourselves, but don't you dare go ape s*** and shoot up your classmates. Or just disrupt class and make sure no one learns anything...
  10. What a dope. This guy is just pissing away the rest of his life.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) I'd be OK if Contreras' game got washed tonight. I read that the hammy has been bothering him for a while, it seems like he would benefit from more time off. And it would also give the infield warriors another day to rest up.
  12. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) They love a part of their body -- it is not disruptive and does not cause a threat to school discipline, so the school technically according to the SC has no recourse legally to ban them from using the shirts. COme on Apu, you aren't that far removed from HS... a bunch of teenagers running around with the word "Vagina" on their shirts isn't disruptive? These are the people fart jokes are made for. These are the same kids that snicker everytime an anatomically correct term for any reproductive organ is used. It IS disruptive, I don't think that is even an issue.
  13. FWIW, the meridian line that is supposed to be the divider between CST and EST goes through Columbus Ohio. Indiana should be on central time.
  14. That is a thing of beauty. Indiana finally hits the 19th century.
  15. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) yeah i saw that, dont think it will happen Why? It is a perfect fit if you think about. The Cubs desperately need a SS, and they have great minor league pitching. The Phillies would love to unload his salary for anything you can get.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Pat Hughes: "Fly ball to left, Brown is there....HE DROPPED THE BALL!!" Ronnie Woo Woo Santo: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Definately a personal favorite of mine.
  17. I hope they do something. No one cares about the state tourney anymore... The problem is it might be too late.
  18. QUOTE(southsider17 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) No way are we gonna pay a bench guy $4.6 mil. And that's what Polanco would be since I don't see them benching Uribe, Iguchi or, believe it or not, Crede. If Crede falls back to form, or more accurately, had always maintained previous form, then Polanco could be inserted as the starting 3Bman. But with Crede's hot start, any chance of benching him, remote to begin with, is now nil. I always though Polanco would have been a good offseason pick-up in lieu of Iguchi but so far Iguchi has impressed. In July Polanco won't be owed $4.6 million, it will be half of that. Keep that perspective in mind. That being said, I don't think the Sox make a move for someone like this unless Uribe is hurt badly. Not just 15 day DL hurt, but groin tear hurt. And that is not the case here.
  19. Preliminary estimates are about 4 months right now.
  20. Nobody likes this thing. Inukshuk improperly designed Nobody likes the logo Native groups don't feel represented
  21. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) Talked to the Bull tonight he is feeling much better and will make his Wensday May 2nd Start against West Tennessee Excellent
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) Sox back home after a very good road trip sending Contreras to the mound. Tigers sending Robertson out there, the Tigers have won 4 in a row since being swept in that 2 game series to the sox. It's going to be a pretty cold-rainy night, Go get 'em Jose Hey 2k5 or cap one of you guys want to pin my first gamethread?? Gosh the service around here sucks. Yeah, I can fix the service around here... I guarentee you'll never complain again AFTER I BAN YOUR ASS!!!!
  23. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) The guy I want, who I wanted a couple of months ago when we were talking draft is Craig Hansen. He has a 1.21 era, 37 innings, 53 K, and only 18 hits. He is a closer from St. Johns, and I know a lot of you don't want a reliever in the first, but we have been without consistency at the closer's role for many years. He has got 3 pitches, fastball mid to upper 90's, big slider and developing change. I think he is one of the best pitchers in the draft, period and would be great for the Sox. He would be easy to sign and would allow us to in the 3rd or 4th take a guy who was considered hard to sign and give him the $ that we save from Hansen and the 2nd round pick that we don't have. After Royce Ring, the Sox will not draft a closer, and after the whole Jeff Weaver, Bobby Seay, Bobby Hill experiences they will not draft a Borass client again.
  24. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) $4.6 million doesn't fit into the budget, especially since we are paying Ben Davis $1 million to play for Charlotte. I wouldn't be so sure of that, especially as we get to the trading deadline. JR went on the air a while back and said that there is still money in the budget. Plus if we can keep winning and increase the attendance, we will add someone, just like we have for years now. Lets not forget that payroll has gone up 50% from the end of 2002 until today, and JR has always added players for a team in contention.
  25. QUOTE(silver and black @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) i live in minnesota... what do you think? Just trying to get the facts together... I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts it is a hoax by a white male.
