  1. Try learning how to figure out total revenue first, that might make you a little more effective as a GM.... [punches numbers in calculator] Damn I have got $310 million to spend on payroll!!!! Woo-hoo!!!!
  2. Very interesting to say the least. His numbers have deteriorated, but with that heavy sinker, he is the kind of pitcher the Sox need.
  3. I think the Sox learned their lesson about Shingo going more than one inning.
  4. There is one way Maggs becomes a Cub. If they offer him the most guarenteed money per year.
  5. It is just an interesting way of looking at this, when everyone is so upset by Bush using an ends justifies the means answer for this whole war. Just doesn't seem right to me. Plus as usual it flies in the face of journalistic integrity, and it also means that the Bush admin will be even less forthcoming with the press. I just don't like it personally.
  6. Wow, that is awesome
  7. Ah, the ends justify the means...
  8. So then if you put both together, it would be a HUGE kick in teeth for OPEC. Say crude falls back to the $30-$35 bbl levels, it would only be about 20-30% above where it started. Yet the dollars their getting are worth 30-40% LESS than what they were... OPEC is actually being smart here, and we are going to pay for it at the pump. IMO, $2 gas is here to stay as long as the dollar is where it is at now.
  9. Good for you. Seriously. I like people who don't believe what they read because the writer uses a lot of big words or writes really long winded stuff. I hope you do your own research and find the info you want Anyways, something I totally missed in my original response in all of this was energy prices affect on the dollar. The US just had the price of crude double within the course of a year. By depreciating the cost of the dollar, we probably had the effect of artifically keeping energy prices artificially high. Because crude trades in dollars, we pay in dollars, granted the price doubled, but now those dollars are worth 30-40% less, so the net effect is much less. It has OPEC talking about raising their trading range up to reflect the drop in the dollar.

  20. Eh, my inside info has sucked lately ;
  21. I am assuming that you are using the Fan Cost Index to come up with your bogus numbers this time... Me personally, I prefer calculations by a little more reputable nuetral party. Especially since FCI doesn't include revenues that go to other sources, such as contract labor and services. It would only look at total revenue generated by the Sox, all of which does not go to the baseball team. Try Forbes for example who is in the business of evaluating public companies. They list the White Sox total revenue at $124 million. Nice try with the $310 million though. Especially since the Yankees total revenue was $238 million for 2003. And now to finish the stats which you will conviently ignore again, the Sox had an operating income in 2003 of 12.8 million dollars. This is total profits without taking out depreciation, taxes, interest, and/or amortization. Damn JR is getting rich! Oh wait, lets go to the payroll numbers Alex... 2003 payroll $51 million 2004 payroll $63 million An increase of $12 million. What an odd number for the payroll to go up, huh? But damn that means they ripped us off for $800,000. How unbelievable is that. http://www.forbes.com/free_forbes/2004/0426/066tab_19.html Class dismissed.
  22. Heck, that offer goes for anyone. Go ahead and prove to me how JR is stealing all of our money...
  23. Geesh. And of course Selig signs off on all of this without a thought :rolly
