  1. Because many teams best players never have deferred payments :rolly Besides the Sox final contract offer was for all of the money on time.
  2. 5 years $70 million isn't decent?
  3. Well at least you finally figured out the Sox aren't making money...
  4. But don't believe it. Our little trollinista is here to stay I am sure :rolly
  5. Maggs has been "consulting" Borass for a long time now...
  6. They keep trying to. Borass is the one who keeps bringing this stuff up.
  7. No one complains about owner loyalty? There were tons of complaints when lots of players left town. People were pissed off at the way Fisk was treated, people were pissed at the contract Ventura was offered, there was an uproar over the white flag trade, etc. Plenty gets said about owner loyalty. The only reason Maggs is getting crucified over this is because they made a big stink and lied at every stage of these negotiations to do it. Plenty of players have left Chicago and they are still idolized by lots of people. Maggs is about the only one that has achieved this level of dispisement.
  8. The thing is, with elasticiy of gas as low as it is, it takes a HUGE move to affect people's buying habits. Gas would probably have to double at least in order to make any appreciable affect on demand.
  9. Yeah it is sad really. I have followed the HS game for so long, and in a way it was exciting to see IH HS hoops get the national exposure it deserves, but at the sametime, I really don't want to see the game poisoned by that stuff either. Class basketball already was bad for the game, it doesn't need anymore problems.
  10. 6 more wins has the very big possibility of being the difference of 2nd place for the 4th year in a row or actually winning the division.
  11. Actually pitching and prospectwise, the Cubs could be a great fit with the Sox.
  12. Vazquez has put up one era in the last 5 years that is worse than any season that Garland has put up since he became a full time starter. I would have a hard time ever taking Garland over Vaz.
  13. Good contracts+decent players=good moves.
  14. Welcome to Soxtalk
  15. I'm glad I am not the only one who has these fears. 280 pound man+foot/ankle problems= not good Plus Cheat is exactly right, Frank was bad after coming back from his injuries. One thing we do have going for us is that Carl is in a contract drive. He doesn't want to get a crappy offer from the Expos again. This might be his last chance to get big money, and I think he will take this season seriously because of that.
  16. Now that is utterly ridiculous. A parent is responsible for everything their kids do, but they can't do anything to find out what their kids are doing, within their own house, on the phone that they are paying for???? Are you f***ing kidding me? To quote the Eagles... "Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight!"
  17. There is no way on God's green earth you could pass of Carlos Lee as a ML RFer. He has worked hard in LF, but the fact remains he still has zero arm. The cut off man still has to get 1/3 of the way in the OF for him to make a solid throw.
  18. So are you telling me that the media is willing to blindside every politician who does supply sufficent funding to people who put their lives in danger? Come on. This was all a self-serving political move. It was for a good cause, once again, this is an ends justifies the means move.
  19. A month ago they were saying that the payroll wouldn't go over last years levels either...
  20. Yeah, it is just one night, that's for sure. Popular Bluff's big mistake was not kicking up the tempo as much as possible. Lawrence North had no outside shooters, and the PB Center was just a track star up and down the floor, and they really could have taken advantage of it. But I will take the win. Hoosier Hysteria rules again
  21. I hope so, the kid is just cut unbelievably. But compared to seeing other kids at his age, he has a looooong way to go. I have seen just about every Mr Basketball that IN has produced for about 15 years now, and the guys who made it had that something that I just didn't see from Oden. Maybe he was a little nervous on national TV or something... I'll have to try to get down to Indy for the state finals this year if he makes it.
  22. How many Iraqi lives did the US save by ending Saddams torture chambers? How many more Kurds would Saddam have killed? How many more countries would Saddam invade? I could go on, but the point is, I don't know how it is different when you use that kind of logic?
  23. Am I the only one who isn't impressed at all with Odin? He is out of shape, lazy, and has really bad fundementals. He is an incredible speicemen, but man has he got a ton to learn to survive at the NCAAs let alone NBA.
  24. There wasn't any for Hermanson either FWIW.
