  1. They would be the ones at the lead of every nightmare story that Robinson and players of his era told. They'd be boycotting and everything else they could do to cancel Jackie and people like him.
  2. The point is very easy and clear. We don't accept racism in a sport that is almost majority minority players, especially in an enviornment where black players make up a smaller and shrinking segment of players than they have in decades. In fact black participation in baseball hasn't been this low since segregation was the law. if you want to grow the game, you need to appeal to all races, and make it clear that all are welcome.
  3. With the Lindor deal setting the SS bar at $34 million a year, you have to imagine it would take something close to that to get TA to sign for only two years, especially if you aren't going to tear up his last two cheap years. Otherwise why wouldn't he wait and get the whole $200ish million that someone will pay him?
  4. I would be a big fan of using a rolling six man rotation for an extended period of time this season. Essentially the sixth man would fill in every sixth day for a start and move down the depth line for one or two turns through the rotation, if the Sox play allowed it. It would look something Starter 1, Starter 2, Starter 3, Starter 4, Starter 5 Starter 6, Starter 2, Starter 3, Starter 4, Starter 5 1,6,3,4,5 1,2,6,4,5 1,2,3,6,5 1,2,3,4,6 and so on. Basically if gives everyone an extended break once through the rotation, or about once a month-ish. I would finish August and September with it if all goes well.
  5. Ope, can't have MJ starting in back to backs, better let Craig Hodges start and play 40 minutes.
  6. Let's be honest here, there is nothing charged about the name "Babe Ruth". It is a meaningless comparison, and one that is meant to flatter. If you want a real equal in terms of upending the apple cart, how about if he called him David Duke, or if he really swung for the fences and started calling him Jesus Christ. Now we are incorporating the whole "sacrifice" and "hated in his time" and "persecuted for his beliefs" while making a comparison. Donaldson's work wasn't meant to flatter, it was meant to piss TA off, hence it being racially controversial.
  7. These posts are nothing but hilarious. Yes a one game suspension for being a racist is being "canceled".
  8. So far the only two Yankees to speak out buried their teammate. You don't see that very often at all.
  9. There was a definite hole in tale after Kopech and Cease.
  10. That's no surprise. The system is trash above A+ in pitching.
  11. I cannot wait for the last half of Better Call Saul. What an ending to this half.
  12. And they have people waiting to parse their words and bastardize them for their own gains.
  13. I got a chuckle. Way better than the usual gloom and doom.
  14. Weird it would happen in Chicago but not NY.
  15. Yep, because the that's also racism crowd is just begging for things to turn into the next ridiculous non sequitor.
  16. What is even more telling is NO ONE from NYY is defending him. Bro is out on an island, alone. Even Boone dumped on him.
  17. Good for Ethan. He's probably going to pay a fine for it, but I am sure TA will cover it.
  18. Of course Donaldson is appealing. If he had any decency at all he'd publicly admit he shouldn't have said what he said, and make an effort to do better. He'd try to donate to TA's charity or something similar as a show of good faith that he REALLY didn't mean it, but wants to do better... to be a better person. Instead he is saying nothing and appealing. This is when your actions speak louder than your words.
  19. Guys like this are the wild cards. We need guys like Montgomery, Colas, and the high and expensive signings to come through to sustain things. If we start getting some guys like Sosa come out of no where to turn themselves into viable prospects, the Sox could actually sustain this run for more than a few years.
  20. Yeah, I thought I recalled him being 89-90 last I heard, all of the sudden he was pumping 92 and touching up to 94.
  21. I would love to see TA become a true White Sox legend, retired number and all, but we have a while before we worry about that next deal.
