  9. Well I do know for a fact that the LaPorte County Sheriff's Dept doesn't, FWIW
  10. I want to weigh in on this thread When it came to promos and giveaways the guy was great. The Sox came up with more new ideas and got copycatted more than about any PR dept around. Dog Day, Elvis night, Beatles night, Country music night, Caribean night, Sleepover, Kids run the bases, Seniors run the bases, Pepsi half price nights, 7/9 game ticket plans, this years contenders ticket plan, Picnic in the park, $1 hotdog day, Turn back the clock games, and I am sure there is a ton of things I am forgetting. His group did more than its share of trying to get people to the park. The problem was when it came the their media campaigns. They haven't had a good one in as long as I can remember. There were some horrible, horrible ideas. And the Sox have done an awful job of marketing their stars. Guys like Frank and Maggs should be way bigger than they ever were. Their secondary stars should be plastered all over Chicago as well. The NBA does it better than anyone. SELL YOUR STARS. That's why casual people go to games. Build those guys up to bigger than life status. People should be stopping the aisles everytime Maggs comes to bat. And finally, in reality, the PR department of the Sox might as well have been run by Goebles as popular as our ownership group is in this town, over the last 10 years. Gallas's group had no control over the strike, and no control over the White Flag trade, and no control over guys like Ventura departing, and so on and so on. I am not sure if we would have had Bill Veeck himself runing the PR dept that we would have any better of a reputation in this town.
  11. I can never say that word without thinking of the Mel Brooks movie... Yeah, yeah, I know, I am going to hell.
  12. Gutsy call, I would have pulled out a :banghead :headshake But that is just how I roll
  13. I musta missed that book of the bible Christians are tought tolerance for other people, but you are to try to save their souls. Granted the whole tolerance thing, has been kinda forgotten at times during history (hello inquistion), but that is how it is supposed to be.
  14. :finger Well technically Christians believe the Bible was devinely inspired directly by God, and those are the words of Jesus. I'll take your levity and raise you a :finger
  15. "Go forth and make followers of all men..." Jesus own words. We are doing what he told us to do.
  16. The problem is there is a small group of people here who can't handle themselves, and have ruined it for the 99% of people who understand how to post decently and get jokes.
  17. I think he is saying the opposite. We would stop buying from them so they don't get our money, and we don't have the need for their oil.
  18. Yeah what PA said
  19. All faiths profess to be the one faith at the expense of the others. The concept is pretty universal, as far as I have seen. Granted I could very well be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time
  20. If that comment came from anyone else it might bother me... But in reality, read the bible, decide for yourself.
  21. There is some funny stuff there.
  22. He hasn't given up any runs in 4 1/3 IP of limited work so far this year. I wish all of our pitchers were having these problems
  23. And your analysis. That is a TWO year decline, not a three year. You have to have a base year to decline from. If you want to show a 3 year decline you need to show the 4th year to show what the 3rd year declined from.
  24. He had pitched an 1 2/3IP over a 15 day span prior to today. He also didn't pitch but about 10 innings IIRC in all of spring. Of course he has no endurance, he hasn't been stretched out yet.
  25. It sucks to have a game like this, but there were a lot of positives. -Rowand and Crede both hit the ball well, and might be coming out of slumps. -The pen was very good. 7IP 3 ER is a quality nights work. You can't expect them to give up nothing, and IMO at least 2 ER were due directly to an incredibly tight strike zone. -The team in general showed something. They would have mailed it in last year. This year they stayed within themselves, and tried to chip away. It just got to be too late and they had to try to finish the deal against two of the best relievers in the game. -Koch DIDN'T blow up!
