Nice to see the media has learned to check their facts after Blair and Kelly.- Wolves SWEEP Grand Rapids
Good to see at least one Chicago Hockey team can win in April.- And that's a White Sox winner...
That Carl Crawford catch was vintage Ken Griffey Jr/Darrin Erstad. It was the best I have seen in years.- Parking Help
Get off at 35th and go south. Then go right on 37th and you'll come right up to the back entrance, all of the way up against the viaduct.- Evaluating SOX players v2
Wasn't it at first?- And that's a White Sox winner...
Shingo is bad assed, now that I have gotten to watch him a couple of times. There is about a 25 mph difference between his fastball and his slowball (changeup I guess) That is insane. Usually a good pitcher can get 15 mph of varience. Plus he has got a slider that moves straight sideways, and a curveball that just falls straight down. This guy is going to make a lot of hitters look bad. The only problem is, if you guess right, his stuff isn't special, and can be crushed. If you know a pitch is coming, Takatsu can't beat you with it.- Happy Birthday Capn12!

LET'S GO KOMETS!!!!- Happy Birthday Jason!
Shhh post quieter... his head hurts- Why are you a Sox fan?
I would.- Attendance was only 11,000 today!!
But my impression of the whole process is that the ISA has pretty much been a pushover to what the Sox have wanted, right?- Mooch's inaugural mock
Honestly I have no idea who the kid is. All I heard talked about are all of the DLine kids. The only real "surprise" pick I had heard predicted before now was Lee Evans.- Twins' New "Grass"
Didn't Stewart have injury problems in Toronto before?- Barry Rozner article in the Daily Herald
Now that would be a coup. Can you imagine the goodwill that would come out of that hiring? God if fans loved Ozzie, can you imagine bringing someone is from the most popular era of the Sox Fan? I wonder if there is any bad blood between the Veeck's and the current ownership?- Please Spare Me H&U
Boone is a good 2B. Too bad he will never play any meaningful games with the Sox.- Gload
You're half right on the great firstbaseman part. With the Cubs 2000 was Grace's last year in Chicago. If Gload was that good, he should have been able to beat out Matt Stairs, who hit .250 17 61 that year. And it hasn't been one or two years of floundering. This guy has bounced around plenty. By my count the Sox are his 5th organization (FL, CO, Cubs, NYM) He should have been able to catch on with someone who needed a first baseman. Also my logic wasn't WHY he hasn't panned out. It is that he HASN'T panned out. Uribe is only so good of an example, because unlike Gload, Uribe HAS been starting as a major leaguer. He has a much more proven sample size to base his potential on. Gload has a whopping total of 79 at bats, 17 of them this year. It makes much more sense to expect more of a guy who has been playing at the ML level, versus someone who has about 80 AB's in the majors over a 5 season span of time. Also before we go replacing a Hall of Famer with Gload, keep in mind the sample size it is being judged on. 17 at bats. And finally who knows, I might be totally wrong. The kid might defy all of the odds and become a good major leaguer at the age of 28. I am just saying that history and odds would dictate otherwise.- Please Spare Me H&U
Rumor is that the Yankees are going to work out a Leiber type deal where they give him the minimum this year and like $5 mil next year. I doubt we have the money to give Boone this type of a deal.- Politte.....
If Ozzie is smart he will realize that Marte is too valuable to pigeonhole into the 9th inning. Jerry at least figured that out. You never know if the key lefties are going to hit in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning. You need Marte whereever they are.- Attendance was only 11,000 today!!
From what I have heard is that they only have about $14mil left (not nearly enough) and they are going to go with green seats for their last renovation. Sounds like the HR porch is dead.- This Date in Baseball - April 23
The pitchers also didn't throw nearly as hard, they didn't have anywhere near the assortment of pitches they do now, they didn't have video and scouting reports of hitters, not to mention the physical training they do now... It goes both ways.- When the Sox play Cleveland next week
Has anyone seen the Indians yet this year? They seem like they can score some runs, but their pitching is bad, while their pen is god-awful. Does that sound about right?- Shitty Beer Poll
You forgot Lone Star. :puke- This Date in Baseball - April 23
So I take it he looked pretty good that day- Gload
I am still pessimistic on Gload because of a few things. If he was soooo good, why did so many bad teams give up on him? And his major league numbers to this date, have left a lot to be desired. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=6560 Plus who knows how effective this kid will be playing once a week for the first time in his life. - Shuttle Caskets among photos of Iraq victums
