  1. Churches are not for profits. Granted some people take advantage of that and use them to their own personal fiscal benefit.
  2. I personally am not aruging on the basis of morality. Although the morality arguement is used against groups like Mathew Hales Church of the Creator and the Klan. Hale's group technically committed no illegal acts before their exempt status was yanked based on the actions of one man, not employed by their group. (It was only after Hale was charged with tax evasion in court that he tried to have a judge hit) I am talking about illegal acts, and espesially the 70 years of obstruction of justice.
  3. That is mortgage rates- those are all based on the demand for mortgages, which has been higher because of the perception that interest rates will probably go up late this year, early next year.
  4. They have a big time catching prospect too.
  5. You and me both. Baseball and hockey have been the two sports the most scared to address and take hard lines on their problems. And it is no coincidence which ones are experiencing the most problems.

  8. I think we have a new leading for the 2004 Cubbie award
  9. The other thing that the Trib said that was interesting was by cutting these guys, they would be keeping Villarial most likely. That has got to make Rex feel better. But it also makes the Bears drafting a DT or pass rusher all of the more likely.
  10. What kind of guys are going to be available to draft at #3?
  11. There are two separate statements of economy there actually. In his last testimony he stated that about 1 million people get hired every week in the US. But there are also about 1 million people who leave a job (voluntary or not) every week, so turnover is to be expected. The unemployment rate has now dropped from 6.3% to 5.7% since the labor market bottomed out. He also stated that Bush's figure (which I think is high) of 2.6 million new jobs this year is "feasible". There was also an interesting statement made about how historically the US has always outsourced work. It has been happening for generations. But the US economy has always replaced that work with higher paying work elsewhere, because US net income has been on a perpetual rise since the great depression.
  12. At least so far I do...
  13. But even with MJ, there were plenty of ex-players who were telling stories about Mike running practices, and getting into peoples faces, and the like. It wasn't front page stuff, but it was out there.
  14. I am not sure what I am missing, but within the income tax codes, what did he say wrong? The poorest brackets don't pay an income tax, and therefore don't get refunds...
  15. Well this is my theory. With Jeter being in NY, if he was an asshole, the whole world would know it. The NY media would have torn him up by now. Then with ARod being the highest paid player in the game, it is pretty much the same idea, if he had stepped on someones toes, they would have been crying to the media and it would have been all over the place. The absence of those kind of stories is telling IMO.
  16. I have never heard a bad word said about Alex Rodriguez in the clubhouse, nor have I about Derick Jeter. I think they will be OK. It is a guy like Gary shefflied that I worry more about.
  17. Where it really comes into play is when someone gets cheapshoted and hurt. So then the team sends out their goon to run the guy who hurt someone. Instead of being able to even the score on the ice, he has to hope the guy will accept an invitation to fight. If not, he is out of luck, and the team with the hurt player never feels vindicated, and instead they take a cheapshot at someone to even the score. When all it would have take is someone to drop the gloves and it would have been fixed.
  18. Yeah, that's what I thought And I notice that no one else wanted to take me up on that offer Guess the Casino Southsider is a bust
  19. And the only reason any of the fights are "staged" Is because of the instigator rule, so basically both guys have to agree to fight, or else someone has an automatic ejection. Its not like the good old days when it comes to being an enforcer. You can't run a guy anymore, just to even a score.
  20. According to today's Trib the Bears are about to cut Kordell Stewart, Warrick Holdman, and Phillip Daniels which would save the Bears about $15 million against next years salaries. Not upset about Kordell, but I am not happy about Holdman and Daniels.
  21. Yeah those 27 world titles are pretty easy to ignore
  22. F@ck you B!tches. Love Kenneth
  23. Think of any other charitable organization that had a history of child molesting and obstruction of justice, that was self-documented for 50 years. Imagine now that they had paid over $1/2 billion to make those problems go away. Would they still be eligible as a charitable organization by our federal government? This is the Catholic Church, as most people probably know. My idea is because of the crimes committed against our citizens and against our government that the IRS strip the Catholic Church of its tax exempt status. This may sound harsh, but when you look at groups that have been stripped of this status, have they done nearly as much to deserve it. The only reason that they still are exempt is because they are the most single populous church and public opinion would crush something like this. But if the US government really wants to prove there is a separation of church and state; that obstruction of justice will be prosecuted; and that they are fair to all ideals, they would take action today.
  24. That is the camp I am falling into. I hope the Yankee arrogance single handedly brings about the salary structure reform that we need as people stay awat from the ballpark in droves as they realize that Yankees are making this game unaffordable to the average fan.
