It is random. Most companies have a block of #'s Purely for example sake say I have SS's dial up service. All ISP's have 4 blocks of #'s that are 0-255. Say my ISP is 200.100.150.(0-255). The last # is the one that changes. The first 3 sets of numbers don't change, the last one does. When you dial in, it just assigns an open number (whatever system they use) to you at that time. Then when you hang up and dial in again, the same process happens again.

Dial up service assigns a random IP from a grouping that a particular company owns, everytime someone dials in.

ESPN 1000 refused to confirm that was said on their show. Apparently the people who were there at that time weren't there then, and no one else had heard it, FWIW.

Maggs wouldn't be the first guy on the Sox I would suspect, but in this day and age nothing would surprise me. That being said, I would rather stay away from speculation that doesn't have at least some merit.

I invite you to hang out for a week on one of the public boards, and you will know exactly what I am trying to aviod. The plethora of complete garbage overwealms any intelligent conversation and forces good posters to look for other places for information. At Soxtalk just about anything is tolerated, but their are lines. Allowing people to intentionally degrade this site by making stuff up won't be allowed. And as to the what would he have to gain, the answer is I don't know. Why do people troll at all? There must be something to gain from it. Entertainment, revenge, boredom, they could all be reasons for this type of behavior. It happens all the time. It is the big reason that I left the ESPN.com board.

It doesn't bother me. That is part of the genuiness of this site, is the Admins and Mods won't hide from their actions, and act like they are better than the posters who really make up their site. If they want discussions out in public, that is fine.

It isn't on ESPN's site anywhere either. But I am going to take the word of our other posters for now.
