  1. I must have slept through that class Which class is this for?
  2. Maybe I should have used green, but I couldn't resist. BTW check your PM's.
  3. Yet again! Listen peanut gallery, don't make me come up there
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stat...ts?statsId=5900 It looks like he should be, or he is damned close. He has been in the league since 1997, and it looks like he should have 6 years of service.
  5. LMAO. Geez Sidney did I hit a nerve? The guy has been in the league 6 years and has won more than 12 games one time. And if you don't think Loz's number's weren't extremely padded by going against 4 and 5 starters for the first two months of the year, look at his first and second half splits. His numbers are way worse in the 2nd half when he was at the top of the rotation, instead of the bottom. The last time I heard this similarity arugement was between Jaime Navarro and Alex Fernandez, and we all know how that went. Comparing a guy coming off a career year to a guy coming off of an average year and having them come up about equal should say something. We also made the same arguements for Todd Ritchie about him being young, and his numbers improving as he came through. And we all know how that turned out. And his career best single season era was a quarter run better than Ponsons was. But what do I know, I just have my head up my ass...
  6. And things keep getting worse for the Wings. Now Zetterberg breaks a leg and will be out for a significant amount of time. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-r...ov=ap&type=lgns
  7. Are you talking about quotes from Thomas about Ozzie or quotes from Thomas regarding his play..... or lack there of..... of team ball? Because if you are talking about "team" Frank, there are plenty of quotes from this past season from Frank's own mouth that he's a "HR hitter," and that, "that is what he is going to do from now on..... hit HR's." Oh no, I am not defending Frank's character. Don't even put me into the "Frank can do nothing wrong" camp. Someone overheard Frank supposedly saying something to someone else in confidence, about the Guillen as manager situation, and we are supposed to trust that as a dependable quote. That is what I am talking about.
  8. They tried to get him to give up a year of free agency last year. He said no. I don't remember the $$... but I don't think that was the deal breaker. I'm pretty sure it was the FA issue. The extra year of FA wasn't even the big thing. There was a big chunk of the money that wasn't guarenteed, and was a team only option. Which raises the question, why not a guarantee on the money? Just because he is a pitcher? They surely have no problem giving guaranteed deals to Konerko, Maggs, etc. If Konerko's money would have been incentive based, he woulda made about 10 cents last season. But instead they are going to let their young ace get away because they won't guarantee the money or shell out a big contract. Indians have Sabathia signed to a deal, A's have Zito with a deal, yet the Sox will be going to arbitration with Buehrle. Is something wrong with this picture? Two words. Jaime Navarro. But seriously, this team is paranoid of signing pitchers long term, and if you think about it, what if we had been on the hook for contracts to guys like Jack McDowell, Wilson Alvarez, Alex Fernandez, and/or Roberto Hernandez. We would be the Detroit Tigers right now handicapped by horrible contracts. The problem is since we have a small budget mentality, we have to be ultracareful about who we give long term deals to. That being said, I want to see something get done with Mark, but I am not holding my breath either.
  9. Isn't Orlando C on the possible Non-tender list for the Expos?

  11. With MB if past negotiations are any indicator, this one might end up in arbitration. What?

  13. My point is Frank could become very difficult, and the Sox would have a hard time moving him, he definitely has the upper hand there. Ozzie could bench him, but that would be a bad situation, not necessarily of Frank's doing. Frank always seems to have fingers pointed at him. Most of the time, for no apparent reason. I'm sure Frank would like to be treated like Ozzie felt he should be treated at the end of his White Sox playing career. That press conference was a joke. I didn't get to see the press conference but read over the summary that Steff had posted. Ballsy, most definitely. Ignorant, not necessarily. I don't think that we'll hear talk like this very often over the 2-3 years in the media. I think Ozzie wanted to let the fans know where he stands at the outset. No harm there. I appreciate knowing these things. Look, people are talking about the Sox again. There's renewed interest in the franchise thanks to Ozzie Guillen. I believe the main reason is that fans, the majority of which felt that the team gave a lackluster effort the last 2 seasons, have hope that finally there will be a manager who believes in accountability. If the players don't like being accountable for grounding into 30+ DPs, failed SACs, baserunning blunders, and swinging for the fences then f*** 'em. If they do their jobs they shouldn't have any problems with Ozzie. What's Frank so worried about? Oh, maybe he knows he doesn't play team ball...that could be it. Once again Frank hasn't said anything yet. There are no quotes directly attributed to Frank Thomas. This is all hearsay. Don't forget that. Also put the shoe on the other foot. What if Frank had done the exact samething to Ozzie that he did to Frank. If he had called him out for all of the crap he has said and done in the past. (never walking, we don't owe the fans anything etc), and all of the shortcomings that have happened before Ozzie took over (lack of enthusiam, bad fundimentals, etc) and INDIVIDUALLY picked him out of all of the coaches and personell in the organization. Would that have been as fair? He would be just trying to do what is needed for the team right? Once again, there is no reason for any manager to call out an individual player on his first day on the job. None. Ozzie should be trying to work with his superstar instead of already trying to create problems in the clubhouse. And I stick to my extact term, it is ignorant.
  14. Wilson is injury prone and his stats clearly indicate is a huge benefactor of the Coors Factor. He would be a decent CF for us, but not at $10 a year, and not if we expect 141 RBI.
  15. My opinion is based on his big mouth.
  16. Do you think people will cry racism when Val gets fired?
  17. Nice catch Rex, welcome in ChiSoxy...
  18. Usually I don't much back up Frank, but he hasn't said a word yet. So far just Ozzie has gone out and looked for trouble. As of yet, Frank hasn't said a thing. And if someone overheard him saying something, then he is doing the right thing and keeping it behind closed doors instead of airing his laundry for the media as usual, and some asshole is printing his "private" thoughts. Until Frank actually adresses the media, I don't give a s*** what the rumors of what he said were, he is handling himself more maturely than our manager is. That scares me.
  19. This is an interview with Paxson from today's Trib
  20. Exactly! The idiots running this place have made it so we can only have more idiots running the things in the front office and on the field. The Sox seem to be going the way of the Blackhawks. Really I am fulling expecting the Sox to get no one in FA, and go completely cheap again. Then after they can't get anyone to play here they will start dealing away players because the team isn't going to be competitive anyway...
  21. He is a free agent right now
  22. Well there must have been something there to be able to make a mockery of the hiring process and still get hired. Everyone else followed the gag rule to a T. Except old Oz out there singing to the media everyday. No wonder no one wants to be a part of this organization, it is a joke sometimes.
  23. Its complete ignorant for a brand new manager to call out a player. It can do nothing but cause problems. Espesially when dealing with a player with as thin of skin as Frank does. Yet another brilliant hire by the Sox.
  24. Ponson just scares me. After reading about the O's stacking him against 4th and 5th starters to inflate his numbers all year, and then watching him choke at the end of the year, I just get the fear that we would be looking at Todd Ritchie part 2.
