If healthy I take Pedro for the short term. If this is the long haul, I take either Rich Harden or Mark Prior, and would lean towards Prior as he is a little better proven.

For whatever reason we just don't seem to care about mediocre to bad teams (unless it is the Cubs), we have played our best ball against good teams, and right now I am would rather be playing good teams.

I will say fior Everett that the Texas Media and players had ZERO problems with Everett. It it sounding more and more like the Boston stuff was a product of one f***ed up clubhouse in Beantown...

I absolutely did. I was one of the few, and was drown out by the Thomas Bandwagon, but I have also noticed that since that timeframe his production has gone down the toilet.

Just got done reading a couple of interesting things about Kid K. Here is one. And the other one is that in the post game show today, Dusty Baker apparently said that Kerry's back has been hurting him now for his last 4 or 5 starts. Hmmm anyone think the fact that Wood is somewhere in the top 3 in pitches per outing is catching up with him? Wood just isn't physcially able to pitch that much. The guy has already had one major surgery and Baker is running him, Prior, and Zambrano into the ground.

Twins are kicking the s*** out of KC 14-5 in the bottom of the ninth, and it looks like First Place Cubs will be about as long lived as First Place White Sox, with Houston all ready having beating Cincy 4-2, and the Cubs trailing the Dodgers 10-5 with two outs in the bottom of the 8th at Wrigley. Elvis Hernandez got beaten for 9 ER in 3 1/3 IP by the Twins, while Kerry Wood was wild as hell today giving up 5 ER and 4 BB in just 2 2/3 IP.

Just to add into the Honel discussion, it is common for HS pitchers to lose some velocity when the get deeper into the minor league season. The key is that they get stronger and get the velocity back.

Jerry is weak in two big areas. The bullpen and getting team up for bad teams. He has his strengths, but these are the two things that just jump out at me.
