  1. It really took him until his 30s to really learn how to pitch.
  2. I though the story went they asked for all three, and then once Devers turned into Basabe and Diaz, that is when Hahn agreed.
  3. The Sox wanted Eloy and held out until they got Cease too.
  4. What makes you think that other teams didn't influence who got traded by who they asked for?
  5. I think teams are smart enough to realize that the loss of an entire league has forced guys up above where they would usually be, and aren't hung up on only stats.
  6. Half of a season is a mile stone worth looking at.
  7. I remember saying that I was positive that someone with a higher ceiling would be taken behind Nick, and would end up being a better player in the long term. But what we knew with Nick was that he was about as good of a bet at finding someone to be a 10 year starter as existed in that draft that we could have selected. The hard part was finding which guy that was, and then getting them developed and contributing. Plus Nick is already a contributing starter on a playoff caliber team.
  8. I really wonder how much the front office mess, with his name being right in the center of it, led him to press too much to try to prove to the world and the Mariners that they screwed up with how the handled him.
  9. This is a great way of putting it. Nice read. https://theathletic.com/2635429/2021/06/06/fegan-what-im-looking-for-when-i-question-white-sox-manager-tony-la-russa/?source=dailyemail
  10. Dbacks are listening on Perralta https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/06/diamondbacks-reportedly-listening-to-trade-offers-for-david-peralta.html
  11. I want zero part of a long term deal for Carlos Rodon. Lynn? Sure throw money at him. Giolito? Great, throw 100-150 million at him to get a long term deal done. Rodon? His history of health is really, really bad. Maybe he's learned how to pitch, but can you really learn to be healthy? Pass at those numbers.
  12. If a team is really willing to pay Carlos Rodon $20 million, not just for one year, but for multiple years, you laugh and move on.
  13. Let's bump the brakes here. The dude hasn't been able to stay healthy since Robin Ventura was his manager, and you want to throw $20 million at him for two months of work? Let's get through a season before we blow everything on a guy who hasn't made it 100 innings but 3 times since 2015.
  14. It's time to remove the bankruptcy restrictions from student loans.
  15. Sure, but doing it when you are in first place (or very close to it) is way different than doing it when you already suck.
  16. White Flag is STILL reviled to this day, and we are almost 30 years on now. The crazy thing is that this is from a fan base which is WAY less optimistic than the Cubs one.
  17. Oops. https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Dodgers-Trevor-Bauer-spin-rate-down-cheat-rules-16229875.php?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=socialflow&fbclid=IwAR257fJ0eZFKEp5xaC44C6KSH0KZAM5Hc8k2ZFqyov8PJ5MXwBWS-C11dogc
  18. Its a best case scenario, they either piss off their fan base, or they push back their rebuild and make it more difficult.
  19. Are we really talking about trading for mediocre guys like this? If so, I am not convinced that they would be better than the guys we have over the longer haul.
  20. I have my IRA and personal account there. It does what I need it to do.
  21. In addition to normal changes, we also have the sticky crackdown about to happen, so we really are going to see guys collapse mid season.
